It's also disgusting and unsanitary how many guys work out there shirtless getting insane amounts of sweat on everything. Finally, and most frustrating, it's hard to get in. There should be an easy way to get in during normal business hours, but that's not the case. I went here for about two years because I liked using the hockey rink for sprint workouts and farmers carry and sled pushes, but they removed most of it and the space isn't that functional anymore. Most of the time, there are small children running around making things like squats tricky because they just show up next to you. They love to say it's $20/mo but that's basically the same price as the local Gold's and Anytime Fitness. Mostly the low rating is because they won't let me cancel my membership. I've moved out of state, and they want me to go in person to cancel. I've called and left messages, sent emails, and I continue to get emails asking for payment.

The gym is literally in a massive garage and has all the free weights, equipment, that you would access in a big box gym plus some equipment I still don't understand how it works. The vibe in the gym is inviting and all types of people come in to workout from weightlifters, cardio junkies, small group of friends keeping each other accountable, new to the gym goers. When I relocated back to Texas during the pandemic I wanted to make sure I connected with a personal trainer that understood the type of workouts I was doing previously, weight loss and strength goals, consistency, and using the gym for mental health. I researched gyms near me and came across Coach Andre's profile and reached out for a free consultation, I signed up on the spot for 3 sessions a week. In the last year I lost 30 lbs, can do a pull up (one, but it's a good one lol) ,and increased mobility and flexibility. I understand people can be intimidated to join a gym let alone hire a personal trainer but if you are looking to take that first step to wards a healthier (I still eat tacos, drink margaritas) lifestyle contact Coach Andre because he will meet you where you are today and help you meet your goals. I know this sounds corny but will share anyway, Coach Andre is a consistent person in my life and as much hell I give him he's not just my coach but my friend!

I've improved not only my strength, but also my balance, stamina, and eating habits. When I started working with Sondra I had just finished my 3rd round of chemo. I had had breast cancer and several years later, uterine cancer. My diet had gotten really out of whack and I had gained about thirty pounds. In addition, my balance was terrible and I fell all the time. I had spent so much time in bed that I had very little strength or stamina. Our first year together was hard and I didn't always look forward to training. But I liked Sondra and actually began to enjoy our workouts! At first, I wasn't used to being challenged that way and I had gotten lazy. But something in me wanted to get stronger and fitter. I wanted her to be proud of me. I missed some workouts, but I kept at it. Today I'm not the same person. I look forward to workouts, and because Sondra is so knowledgeable, she knows how to keep me engaged. Now I hate to miss a session! I've lost all the weight I'd put on and am so much stronger and fitter, with better endurance. Sometimes it's hard for me to believe. I like the way I look and feel and I can do so much more than I once could. I plan to keep training with her. I think Sondra is the best! I recommend her unreservedly.

One of those changes being going from weighing 250 pounds to 158. The first 45 pounds I lost on my own. The second 45 pounds (and the more difficult half to lose) I lost at ATX Gym. I worked with both Max and Kevin and they were both professional, knowledgeable and truly masters of their field. Not only did they help develop and maintain a training plan custom tailored for me and my goals, they also took the time to teach me what I was doing, why I was doing it and how to do it properly with good form. They were also highly motivational, offering encouragement to keep going, keep pushing my limits and and not give up. ATX Gym has you covered. It's small, intimate and efficient. From what I've seen, the full spectrum of fitness levels finds a home here from those who could do Olympic lifts in their sleep to those who are just getting their feet wet (me). The classes always have a purpose and a plan but offer a lot of variety. Weightlifting, strength straining, booty building workshops, yoga, stretch, calisthenics, cardio conditioning, HIIT, dance--There's something for everyone. That's key for me personally, as I tend to get bored really fast and lose interest if it's the same thing every day. And the classes are small! No more than 6 people, which is the sweet spot between getting personal training and enjoying the comradery of others. It definitely helped me feel less intimidated, because let's be honest... walking into a group of strangers in unflattering workout clothes not knowing what to expect can be anxiety inducing. Lacey (owner and trainer) was so sweet, warm and welcoming! I felt welcomed immediately by her and the other few people in our group that were super supportive. Lacey and Max are knowledgeable hands-on owners that run their own classes and really invest a lot of time and energy into you. They really took a lot of time and stayed late with me to go over nutrition, set goals, and help me choose what classes would be best for me. Give this bad ass locally owned gym some love!

Heck, if you're just someone who enjoys working out in peace in a respectful environment where everyone minds their business, wipe down their machines, spray essential oils in your workout sauna room after their workouts as a courtesy.... This place is for you! What it is- hotworx in hutto has 8 sauna rooms and each room is designed to fit 3 people at a time. 4 of those rooms are dedicated to isometric workouts (these are 40 minute classes of yoga, barre, Pilates, core, glutes, warrior/intense yoga, and ISO/isometric) and the other 4 classes are for HIIT (2 spinning classes, rower, and assault bikes). The back portion of the gym is called their FX area, it has free weights, a bench, and some other gym items. There are 2 bathrooms and one has a shower for your convenience. The gym is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In order to get in you have to have an app with an entry code assigned specifically to you so I always feel very safe even when I'm alone in there. Yes, the rooms fit 3 people so theoretically you could have strangers in there with you but I have not once had to share a sauna room with someone else. I think everyone enjoys having their own space and even if someone did join in I wouldn't mind. Be prepared to sweat!!! The saunas go up to 130 degrees and though that sounds intense you'll get used to it and learn to love it. Membership is $59 a month for just the Hutto location or for $79 monthly you can workout at any Hotworx location and you get an online trainer and a diet tracker. You do need to purchase their mat and yoga towel- please do the Hotworx branded ones. I tried buying an extra towel on Amazon because I thought it would be the same and it's not the same grip. The scheduling for classes is super easy on the app. If you cancel a class or miss, no big whoop, no charge (ahem, looking at you OTF... $10 a cancellation? Yeah, no.) Schedule a free class! I hope you enjoy this place as much as I do! (IMPORTANT- if you decide to try it out hydrate the day prior, that morning, and during your workout. Truuuust me.)

After a hearty Texas BBQ lunch, I looked for a local CrossFit box to drop in on. I found CrossFit Hutto on Yelp and called ahead to see if I could attend a class. The man who answered the phone said his name was Lance and was very polite. He told me I could attend either the Friday 5pm and 6pm class. There would be a $20 drop in fee or I could attend the free Saturday morning class. I decided to take the Friday 6pm class because it's really hot in Texas right now and figured it would be cooler in the evening. Plus I have to leave early in the morning on Saturday to attend the retirement ceremony. I arrived at the facility about 15 minutes prior to class. I was immediately impressed with the size of the property. The 5pm class was still in session and people were hanging around. I walked up to the front counter and put my things down. There didn't seem to be any gym employees there to greet me or check me in. I stood around for a while waiting to be greeted. There were a couple guys sitting on the couches behind the counter on their phones. After a few minutes of standing around, I decided to just go stretch and warm up on my own. Once the 5pm class ended, one of the guys who was sitting around got up and called the 6pm class up to the front. I followed the crowd to the front where the coach said hi and began to check members in on the Wodify app. I told him I was dropping in and he had me fill out the waiver while he instructed the rest of the class on their warm up drills. While I was filling out the waiver, the woman who was coaching the 5pm class came over to say hi and apologized for not greeting me. I told her it was okay because I know how busy it can be. After signing the waiver, I jumped into the warm-up with the rest of the class. The coach was preparing us to do strict presses for the skill work. I partnered up with a man of similar height to me named Mo. He was very nice and showed me where things were. This proved to be the theme of the class as the coach didn't really interact with me or many of the members. I felt as if I was on my own. Luckily, I do CrossFit workouts regularly and am a Level One coach. During the strict presses, I gave my partner a couple tips and helped the ladies on the rack next to me. I made sure not to disrupt the coach's class but I felt obliged to help the ladies next to me. They thanked me and said the tips helped. Afterwards, the coach explained the WOD and did a quick demonstration. The WOD was fairly simple and was only a 10 minute AMRAP. When I was done, I high-fived the other members of the class. I put my equipment away and asked where the restroom was. When I returned a few minutes later, almost everyone was gone and the coach was already locking up. I thanked him for the class and told him my name since we didn't really get introduced properly. He told me his name was Randy and I followed outside so he could finish locking up. I made it a point to say hi to him since he never really greeted me. At my gym, we make it a habit to meet every new member or visitor and make them feel welcome. We always have them introduce themselves and share something about themself. So the fact that no one at CrossFit Hutto really took the time to get to know me was a little disappointing, but every CrossFit box is different. Overall, I'm glad I got a good workout in while on my trip. I wasn't charged a drop-in fee, so that was nice. I checked the clothing rack to see if I could buy a shirt to support them but they didn't have any men's shirts available. The facility was very nice and I liked how spacious it was as well as the cool Rogue barbells. My only recommendation would be for the staff to be more involved with greeting and checking in members and visitors. The whole time I was imagining if my mom had dropped in as a first timer and how no one would have helped her properly workout. In my opinion, that is a very important quality of a CrossFit gym. You can have all the new and fancy equipment available, but if your staff doesn't engage and teach the members properly, people get hurt or feel unengaged.

Several years ago my family went through something very traumatic that left me holding on mentally for dear life. So physically I went downhill and gained a lot of weight. I tried other gyms and other trainers to help me out of my rut over the years. I tried many diets too. Nothing clicked. None of it helped physically AND mentally. It only seemed to help physically which would lead me in a downward spiral mentally after a few short weeks. BBD works with all ages and all athletic abilities. They require you to commit for the long haul. No more fads, no more trying to get skinny. They really know their stuff especially when it comes to preventing injury and they work closely with you to modify the work out if you have preexisting injuries. This year I joined Fred's crew and he checked in frequently on my preexisting back and knee issues. We made sure to modify movements like lunges and dead lifts to movements that worked out the same muscle group but didn't aggravate my back and knees. Now that those muscle groups are much stronger I can do much more than I have ever been able to in the gym. The small group training format gives you the feel and attention of a personal trainer but is much more affordable. I moved away 3 years ago and when I came back I was at my heaviest I have ever been. BBD welcomed me back with open arms. I dropped a lot of weight, I feel better than ever, and I can't stop checking myself out in the mirror. I would give BBD 6 stars if I could.
