What a great find in a Glen Arbor especially if you are looking for a quick bite to eat. Found Bear Paw Pizza here on Yelp and since I was nearby at Sleeping Bear Dunes I decided to stop by. It is in a cute hub of a market - I ended up purchasing a cute pullover from them to commemorate my trip. For the pizza i opted for the Bear Down Buffalo Chicken and the cheesy paw sticks. The pizza was phenomenal. I cannot wait for the season to open again in May to order again when I head up North. I took my pizza back with me to Chicago and it traveled well on the journey home. Wow!!! This place exceeded our expectations! Since it was in a liquor store we were a little skeptical with how the food would be but it was really a 10/10! We ordered the Pepperoni, hot honey, cheesy bread and it was DELICIOUS!! The sweetness from the honey and the cheese is an amazing combination. We also got the Carnivore pizza and it was soo good! The sausage was real meat, not like a dominos and it had such a good crust. It almost tasted like it was wood fired because of crispy yet soft dough but the crust was crispy and airy! I would recommend this place 1,000%. While we waited for our food we walked around the town and came back just in time for this delicious meal!! read more

Wow! This is my first ever review on Yelp, and it's for a good reason. This place was super cool and had a nice "home-town" feel to it. The lady who served us had our pizza done exactly when she said it would be, and when we were barely short on cash, she covered for us. Super friendly conversation with her too. This place was amazing. We almost didn't go because the review average is so low but after going I'm really confused as to why. We got a 12" split meatlovers and pineapple/mushroom/banana pepper. Waited over a hour after I was told 15-20 minutes. Pizza was just BAD too--we got mushroom pizza. The mushrooms had let out so much moisture it had soaked through the bottom of the box by the time we got back to our room a mile away. The pizza's warm, they sell alcohol for takeaway only, and that's most of the package. We got a Hula Bear : ham and pineapple and green peppers. The menu lists some basic salads, but they were out of lettuce when we visited --- no lettuce so no salads. You can buy beer, wine, or liquor to go, but not consume it here. The tables and plastic utensils are basic, but a big step up from eating in your car. They don't have cozy booths or pitchers of beer, but they can get you out of the weather and fed with hot cheese, and some days that's exactly what you need. read more

Doesn't look like much as it's a pizza shop inside a convince store but don't be mislead, the food was top-notch after a long day at Sleeping Bear Dunes. Even during the dinner rush it only took ~15-20 minutes from ordering to food on our picnic table. The staff was incredibly friendly (great news when most of the cooks looked like high school/college students) and took time to tell us how long until our pizza would be ready each time we came back into the store. The ambiance is quaint and outdoorsy as the main dining is several picnic tables outside which actually lead to several fun conversations with other patrons who were from the area. Considering the small town and surrounding options, Bear Paw Pizza was great. This place is totally cafe-like. I don't know if I've been to another place like this, which is half general store and half cafe/restaurant. You order your food at the counter and they make it for you and bring it to you table. You sort of help yourself to your own drinks and other snacks sort of from the grocery side of the joint. You pay as you walk out at a cashier - declaring everything you had. You don't see that in the big cities. :-) Everyone here was really nice and the whole experience was enjoyable. read more

It's a deli place but I expect homemade buttermilk and I got hidden valley ranch. The pizza was okay. Not the worst I've had not the best. Dough and crust were good. The pizza needed more sauce and more flavor. Without Parmesan cheese it was lacking in flavor. This place could have top notch pizza if they just added some flavor and sauce. So it's not very often I complain about what food costs, let me explain. I factor in quality and quantity as well as atmosphere, waitstaff etc. I placed a phone order for 4 pizzas and 2 orders of bread sticks and the total came up to $128.00!!!! We actually thought we heard wrong and called back a minute later to double check and were told that was the correct amount so we cancelled the order. So these pizzas would have had to have the quality of a $30+ pizza but I doubt it and I wasn't going to chance it as bread sticks can't cost over $15 a piece. If you are going to order from here just order a small pizza and pray it worth the cost. Just remember Jets, Little Cesars and Dominos delivers for half the cost! read more

Paid $75 for inedible food. Refused to refund us, even though we called right after, was told owner would be in next day and to take it back then. Took it back that night (99% of the pizza was still there some chewed up and spit out) and was treated like dirt by the owner. She was incredibly rude to my mother and has horrible customer service. We spent all that money on food we couldn't eat, and the owner seemed almost proud of the fact that she wouldn't refund money for her "superior product." At first my mother was cordial as usual, but received none of the same. I only wish I would have thought to take a picture of the horrible uncut pizza before we returned it. I've been eaten pizza since I got off the titty. I've had some great experiences with pizza and had some awful pizza experiences. Rating this pizza at 3 stars was hard to me. It's a better then average pizza, honestly, but the sticker price was shocking to say the least. First off, the dough was slightly doughy around the too big for it's britches crust. The sauce wasn't anything to excite the taste buds. Cheese is your standard mozzarella, meh. Toppings (I got pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms) are run of the mill. At 3.50 a slice, I expect this pie to have those grease cup tiny bois and fresh never frozen sausage. Even the mushrooms are the pre-sliced and canned type you come to expect from a chain pizza place. As for the pros, the dough was tasty. Sprinkled parm on a buttery crust was a nice touch. Customer service was decent. Truth be told I would've given them 4 stars, even with a doughy pie, but a 28 dolla holla could at least have premium toppings and fresh mozz. Protip: Skip the Dipping Stix (there version of bread sticks) for 7 bucks you're better off buttering some Wonder Bread. read more

I've been going to Glen Arbor for years now and have finally stopped here for pizza. From the outside it looks like a cute log cabin store. Inside is a simple market with a variety of souvenir shirts, snacks and drinks for sale (alcoholic and non) as well as the pizza stand. We ordered a large pepperoni pizza with green olives on half. It was ready in 15 minutes and we took it outside to eat on one of their picnic tables. The pizza was delicious and filling. We are a family of 4 and we had our fill with 3 slices to spare. They were also gracious enough to providea side of pizza sauce (a must for me). We would definitely get a pizza here anytime. Just an FYI, they do sell alcoholic beverages in the store but they are meant to take back with you, cannot drink it on the property. read more

Surprisingly great pizza and subs considering that this place is a pretty innocuously looking joint on a small town "main street" in upper Michigan state. Was staying at the nearby Homestead Resort a few miles up the road and had maybe the best slice of pizza i've had in some time. certainly better than one would expect to get "in the sticks". particularly remarkable was the light and crispy crust. the subs are good too, but a bit pricey for my taste ($8.50 for the average combo sub). worth a visit if you find yourself in these parts. read more
