Great tasting pizza. They call their 12" pizza an individual size but it is filling and 2 people can easily share it. They are not skimpy on the cheese or toppings. You build your pizza with any toppings you want and the price is still $14.99. The restaurant is split into 2 restaurants: Firebird Pizza and Steve's Smokin' BBQ. One family can order from either place and sit down together for a family meal. Everyone will be happy with the meal of their liking. Of course, with the BBQ, the entire place smells good. I had high hopes for Firebird Pizza but unfortunately today was not my day. The location is combined with a BBQ concept they share space with and soon as we walked in we were greeted with the smell of some amazing BBQ, but we were there for the pizza. The place has open seating and the pizza is cooked in a nice looking brick oven. The service was great, very friendly staff While you can be tempted to build your own pie because the topping list is very impressive, we decided to go with the "Booyah Supreme" and that is probably where we went wrong. You see, sometimes "less is more" when it comes to a thin crust, brick oven pizza and while i can't believe i'm saying this, our pizza simply had too much cheese and toppings that it came out undercooked in the middle, and that's no bueno when it comes to any pizza. Delicious! It's 1/2 pizza, 1/2 BBQ! There are plenty of TVs so you can watch sports while you're there eating the deliciousness. The prices are extremely reasonable, too. You can create your own wood fired pizza with tons of toppings for only $14.99!! They carry Northwoods Soda and Leelanau tea!!! The service is prompt - both times I've been here, and now that we're local, my husband and I'll be regulars!! The first time we visited the owner, Steve, came out and chatted with us. He was super nice and told us his story which was neat. Their cherry bbq sauce is in the process of being FDA approved for sale very soon! Delicious. We did carry out and it stood the test of take home! My only caveat is that I don't love arugula only salads, but the salad was super fresh, great amount of toppings and the dressing is tasty and light too. This will be our new go to for pizza in traverse city. And we've been to every pizza place in traverse city. It's a winner! read more

After reading a few reviews on Yelp I knew this was the place to go for pizza while I was in the area for business. While the five star reviews were good, it was a three star review that was the clincher. The only bad thing they could say about the pizza was that it had too much sauce and cheese. If that's the worst thing about a pizza then it's my kind of place because I usually have to ask for extra sauce. If you like pepperoni pizza, I highly recommend the Phoenix. I wasn't sure about the hot honey drizzle so the gentlemen waiting on me suggested getting it on half. I wish I would have just gone with it on the whole pizza because it was delicious!! The flavor of the food was really good. However, I was a bit disappointed by how heavily sauced and cheesed everything was. It made the toppings slide off and honestly made it a bit difficult to eat. Make no mistake, ths may be the best pizza in TC. It's not right in town but is only a 7-minute drive from downtown. You can load a small pie with as many items as you want for one affordable price, and they don't stint on quantity. The pizzas taste great and are freshly baked to your liking. Service is fast, friendly and efficient. Kids love the place. Lots of cheese on the pies too. Salads, BBQ also available. Recently learned that they had opened (I had to add the business to do this review) so we had to try it. They offer fine in or carry out and it's super fast. They offer one size which they call 11" and it's easily enough for two people. They also offer gluten free and cauliflower crust options but we went with the regular after reading about it - from a place called Ferment 72 and the dough is fermented for 72 hours which (according to them) helps it puff up, lowers the glycemic index and it easier on your stomach. So you get in line and like Chipotle and others you pick your crust, sauce (red, white, pesto, etc) then you cheese (traditional, fresh mozzarella, and a few others), then the toppings - pretty much everything including barbecue from their sister restaurant that's in the same building. So it's meats, veggies and other toppings - whatever you want. Oh and the best part - they don't nickel and time you for each topping - one price for all the toppings or 1 topping - whatever you want! The pizza is cooked in an 800 degree oven so it gets very puffy on the edges and a bit blackened (in a good way) with the part under the toppings remaining thin. I had pizza similar to this at a place in CT a long time ago (there's was a real wood fired oven and the place had been there for decades - it was great) and this is the closest I have had since.
