I just ordered their cream puffs tonight and they did not disappoint! The only reason I didn't give them a 5 is if they are going to offer a Ube version they should flavor the pastry cream Ube. I didn't taste any Ube flavor in the white chocolate shell, only white chocolate. Their choux dough is crunchy and they fill the puffs with ample pastry cream and their pastry creams are spot on! 6/10 Dittos! Decided to give this place a second shot but unsure if i'd come back Service was great! The girl working at register/prepared my puffs was really sweet and patient, made the overall experience really nice. Was really helpful on all the questions I had asked. However for the food, the puffs were only okay. They definitely satisfied the craving but definitely wasn't what I was expecting. It was dry, not really soft and airy like I expect a cream puff to be (': Maybe that's just how they're supposed to be here but because of the texture it's really hard and messy to eat without it falling apart or making a mess. I got three puffs, one for my sibling, one for me, and one for my friend. My sibling fortunately liked the smores w vanilla and my friend who got the creme brulee found it yummy but lacking the creme brulee flavor. I got the strawberry puff with chocolate filling, and the strawberry part didn't even taste like strawberry at all but more so plain white chocolate. I was so happy that Beard Papa's moved to Concord 2 years ago. I don't have to drive far to get beard papa's cream puffs anymore! It's only 12 minutes from our house, before, we had to drive at least an hour to get to Beard Papa's. My family and I love Beard Papa's because their cream isn't too sweet, the sweetness is just perfect! The lady who serve us is always so friendly and patient with customers. We went there again today on Labor Day and we were so glad it was opened today! Their cream puffs are so good but remember not to keep them until the next day, if you think the cream puffs aren't good anymore the next day, it's your own fault. I can't even give them a 1 Star! It was such a horrible experience! They took our order at 150pm. We watched how slow the workers were behind the counter . It seemed like no one knew what they were doing ! We did not get our order until 240. What the heck there was lots of shells it's just the workers suck! There was no basic steps they were following . First, service is super slow. I get it, they're new and haven't figured out the quickest system. Second, shells were hard, dry, and crumbly. I've had the vanilla, chocolate, green tea, and ube filling. They were good except for the ube. I ordered 3 with ube filling and there was no flavor at all. And while they were generous with all the other cream flavors, they skimped on the ones with ube filling. There was hardly any inside. Lastly, ask for a box if you order more than 3, especially if they're assorted filling flavors. Not sure how they decide which orders get put in a box, but each time I've ordered 5-6 and they crammed my order in a small bag. All the different flavored cream fillings were smeared inside the bag and all over the shells! I've been here twice since they've opened and I don't see the hype. Probably won't be back. read more

Honestly, idk what these other people expect on an OPENING DAY/WEEK. Of course there's going to be a wait since Bears Papa's is a relatively popular franchise. And as far as operation wise, I think we can cut these workers some slack since it is brand new and a family-owned branch. I, for one, am extremely happy not having to drive all the way out to the city to get these delicious treats. Once we avoided the couple of talking-to-themselves homeless guys that kept walking back and forth in front of the Beard Papa store, we entered the bright and cheery place to order our cream puffs. We were the only customers so service was swift and pleasant, the cream puffs themselves were a bit hard on the outside but the cream was tasty enough..just not overwhelming..and at essentially $4 a piece really not worth the price. For old folks like me remembering the Helms Bakery creampuffs is the gold standard....and sad to say Beard Papa's don't quite measure up. read more

These delectable desserts are for those rare occasions when you love a custard field donut like experience but lighter fluffier and creamier. Great service great food however the price is are not in line with the typical buyer in this region. $8.50 for two pastries is what I would deem appropriate for San Francisco but not for Concord. I spent the morning at King donut in pleasant Hill and for $2.50 I had two chocolate covered donuts with nuts, some lovely chit chat, and a sit-down which you can't do at beard papa. read more

We usually only get these tasty treats when we're out in San Francisco, so it's great (and dangerous ) now that there's one nearby. We were worried that the wait would be excessive after reading reviews and knowing that they recently opened. However, we tried it a couple weeks ago on a weekday evening and we were in and out in 10 minutes. Everything tasted great - we prefer the original (plain) and the chocolate. We'll be back! read more
