We came specifically to try their Ilocos empanadas, but unfortunately they only had the mini beef version available. They weren't bad, but they also didn't stand out compared to the Ilocos empanadas I've had at other places. Maybe it was because they were the beef version or because they were so small. They could have used a little more salt and a bit more egg. Since they're mini, the filling-to-wrapper ratio just didn't seem quite right. We also tried the tacos and birria. Came here to get some Filipino Empanada's with my nephews and niece who just came overseas. We waited almost 30 minutes and wondered why other orders were being fulfilled before ours. Found out that the girl who took our order never communicated the information back to the cook. Was pretty disappointed with the entire transaction. I think the business can do better if they lowered down the music and concentrated on their work. Some awareness of why some of your customers are standing around with no food and follow up really would help. When ya walk in, the layout is very simple with high counters that cover the kitchen so you can't really see what's going on. I would think it's chaotic with all the genius they're cooking behind there. Ordered and was quoted a 15-20 min wait which wasn't so bad since I was at least able to secure them. I heard around lunch time they sell out. So I was just blessed. Once I picked it up, I had a 40 min commute home and surprisingly they were still nice and crispy! I will say, they should include more vinegar cuz the small lil container they give ya just doesn't cut it for those suka lovers. It's not bad as I've tried the chicken sandwich, spicy chicken fries, birria quesadilla, and the ilocos empanada (which is probably the best out of all of what I've tried). Honestly, everything i tried just seemed a bit dry i mean i dont know maybe it just dried up as i was driving home but it definitely seemed so as if it was sitting or overcooked. Birria to the chicken dishes. But overall the ilocos empanada was a 5/5 excellent in my book. Never really ate inside just had it picked up and brought it back to the crib. Today is my traditional door dash day I have with my co-worker and we decided to give this place a try. They had a special on their sliders, so that was what we opted for. Additionally, I also got a Horchata drink as well. Spicy Chicken Slider: I had the sauce on the side, which looked to be some sort of spicy mayo. The slider itself looked a bit smaller in person. For $4.50, you can get two sliders on DoorDash. It came with the sauce and coleslaw. It was overall just ok. The Cole slaw was a bit on the sweeter side and the chicken though, sadly was beyond dry. It was hard to swallow, and the spicy mayo couldn't save it. I also had burnt pieces around the edge, which didn't help keep the chicken moist. My suggestion to this is it needs something acidic, like pickle chip or two and honestly, that can salvage this dish. Horchata: This drink was pretty good. Not overly sweet, but I did taste a bit more cinnamon than I am accustomed to. Otherwise, it was not grainy, so I enjoyed my drink. Overall, the slider was ok and the drink was the best part. This review is specifically for the Ilocos empanadas in which we were fortunate to get some early morning yesterday right at the 11am opening. I was confused at first because this place seemed like a Mexican taqueria from the Birria tacos and burritos on the menu. They also serve chicken sandwiches which is kind of random. These empanadas aren't on the menu because I think it's an upcoming Filipino food item that is blowing up so they must've caught on the hype which is right on time. They are $8 a piece with a limit order of 5 per person. The empanadas are huge in size with a thick outer shell. The filling is a mix of papaya salad which was super subtle in taste, lots of ground beef, and a boiled egg in the center. The filling was pretty bland which could've had more of a salt and more of a spice blend taste. The vinegar really helped because without it, the empanada is just ok to me. It really just tasted like a fried veggie lumpia with just lots of ground beef. One empanada was really filling and made me full for a long while. I gave it a 3.5 / 5 BUT that is just my take on it.
