    Luis D.

Dubai chocolate was good, just chocolate with pistachios. Filling I chose was salted caramel. tasty and but bot that much better than the chocolate. still good cream puffs.

Next to Blue Bottle Coffee, a nice combo if you're in Old Town Pasadena. The cream puffs have always been fresh and you choose what you want inside along with the classic sugar powder on top. No seating and very small area but you don't really need it for Beard Papa's. Worth checking out.

Delicious cream puffs with different flavor options. Creme brûlée cream puff had a nice burnt sugar shell and filled generously with custard. Would opt for their mini versions of the creme puffs as ratio of filling to shell is better.

6 Pack (vanilla filled)-- Churro (x2), Matcha, Strawberry, S'mores and Original

While shopping in Pasadena we walked by Beard Papa's when my husband mentioned that he has never had their cream puffs -- WHAT?!? So, we immediately went into the small shop and placed an order. We picked up a 6 Pack, all vanilla filled -- Churro (x2), Matcha, Strawberry, S'mores and Original. Service was quick and friendly. The cream puffs were large, fresh and generously filled. My husband loved them! I'm sure he'll be asking for them again.

One of my favorite dessert spots, finally was able to bring my boyfriend and it never disappoints. Definitely going to be coming all the time since we're a bit closer now. The churro puff with vanilla cream is my favorite.

I love beard papa! There is always fun flavors to choose from and it's always delicious! This beard papa is small and usually there is only one employee working there but despite that fact , it's never a long wait!

Let's get right to the point. These bad boys are DELICIOUS! They are delightful, and provide all kinds is satisfying texture experiences. The outside is crispy and light. The filling was cool and thick but not dense. They fill the cream puffs right in the spot. So that keeps the integrity of the doughs texture without getting soggy. There are many flavors and I can't wait to go back and try more. We had the ube which was flavorful and buttery. We also had the churro which had a lighter flavor from the cream inside, but the top had just enough cinnamon and sugar to be sweet but not over the top. We went there after a trip to Cheesecake Factory which is across the street. We parked at the parking structure which was around the corner. There is some street parking though. Go, just go.

What a delicious treat! Stopped by on Friday at 9pm and picked up a few of the cream puffs on the counter. I got the strawberry and matcha flavored cream puffs and filled them with vanilla cream. They were overall delicious however I probably got the last batch of the night because the dough started to taste on the old side. Overall still creamy and delicious. Like $4.50 each puffs so it's a tad pricey.

Happy National Cream Puff Day! (1/2/24)
    Hannah S.

I've had Beard Papa's on my local list for ages and finally made my way in for National Cream Puff Day (1/2/24) - the perfect day to visit haha! We tried 5 different flavors and loved them all but the honey butter shell with vanilla filling was our fave! Staff are lovely, they have lots of flavor combinations, prices are reasonable, and these lovely little desserts would be perfect for parties. They have lots of premade cream puffs in various shell flavors available in their cases, all with vanilla filling - but they also offer many different flavors of outer shells that you can combine with any of several choices of filling which ends up giving you tons of different flavor combinations to choose from if that's your thing. I just picked from their premade choices and we were not disappointed. We tried a churro, s'mores, green tea, honey butter, and strawberry and loved them all! But the honey butter was by far our fave. Most of their puffs are full size but they offer several mini flavors too. The outer shells are light and crisp with a slightly sweet flavor. It perfectly compliments the luscious vanilla cream - such a lovely texture and flavor! Next time we visit I'll definitely be trying some other flavor combos with the different cream fillings. They also offer a few other dessert choices besides cream puffs - such as cheesecake and creme brûlée. There aren't any tables inside - this is a grab-and-go kinda place. Prices are definitely reasonable imo, especially considering the area. They're located in the core of busy Pasadena. There are lots of parking garages nearby and the one right next to it on Fair Oaks was free for the short 15 mins I spent there.

But we were highly disappointed with the drinks we got. Most of my friends ordered the hojicha latte and it was NOT GOOD. I'm a big fan of hojicha and it's always a hit or miss as some places can't do it well. And this place definitely doesn't taste good at all. I'm usually not that harsh and the the employee said this was her favorite but it tasted like DIRT. I added lychee jelly so it was bearable and I was able to not waste my money but my friends who ordered it also could not finish and had to throw it away. Hojicha has a roasty nutty flavor and is hard to do right because it can taste burnt or doesn't have that nutty flavor and be bland. I admit that I am be picky about my hojicha but this place literally tasted like dirt charcoal. The color was also black and not the warm brown color it usually is. Unfortunately, I'm not coming back and afraid to try other things.

They are located in Mills Alley in Pasadena just look for the bright red sign and signage promoting some flavors. We came by after having dinner. The staff greeted us as we walked in. It was empty when we initially arrived then more customers filtered in shortly after. Staff allowed to sample their unique flavor options. **To note, they offer a few vegan flavors for those with dietary restrictions**. Always a huge plus and positive! The flavors are middle eastern inspired and the details are all listed. My wife and I sampled 2 flavors and we both enjoyed our selections. The flavors are memorable. We happily decided on the Sesame Halve (vegan) & Pistachio Konafa with Chocolate Shell (+$1.00) for myself. The presentation is one of a kind! The topping with the tiny little rose is a nice aesthetic and definitely their trademark. The location offers retro and colorful style seating for 10+ customers if I had to guess . Patio seats are also offered outside. Also, OG Pac-Man arcades are available inside. When we arrived, we were the only two there for a few minutes until more people came. We were greeted right away. We walked down a ramp that led us to their selections. It's a decent-sized shop with a few tables. Each table had a rose in a vase attached via velcro so you don't have to worry about tipping them over. The shop is also nicely decorated with wall art. It's been a few days since then and we can't stop thinking about coming back. They serve unique Middle-Eastern flavored ice cream. I ordered the Sesame Halva which is their vegan ice cream made of Halva ice cream with sesame & coconut. OMG, I've never tasted anything like this before. I love anything that has a sesame profile. If you like that nutty, sweet, and earthy flavor this one is for you. I could taste the coconut, but it wasn't overpowering. There were also little chunks of halva in there that added a slight bit of sweetness. The texture was similar to cookie dough, but softer. Aside from the taste, I loved the simple presentation of the small rose on top of the scoop. It made it look elegant. As you can tell, I am definitely coming back and highly recommend stopping by.

First, the good: the cinnamon roll was moist and fluffy all the way through. No dry cinnamon rolls here! The service was also very friendly. The not so good: my first bite, which somehow managed to not have much icing, gave me a clear taste of the dough. It reminded me a lot of canned biscuit dough. I prefer a thicker icing, this one was quite runny and very sweet without any nuance to the flavor. Also, I really wanted to try the peach cobbler cupcakes but they didn't have any cupcakes in stock at all, only a few cake slices. We went around noon, and I hoped they would have plenty of options around that time :/ Unfortunately I've had much better cinnamon rolls elsewhere in LA. On our most recent visit - admittedly our first in a while - I was surprised that the flavors mostly seemed like repeats from a long time ago. Of course, you want to feature what is most popular, but I remember previously seeing things that were truly one of a kind, even for them. (Out of curiosity, I visited their website and the seasonal flavor blog hasn't been updated since spring 2021). None of this is a deal-breaker, but the feeling of "tiredness" permeated my interaction with the staff, too. There was no joy behind the counter, which I found odd for ice cream that is supposedly about the love of travel. When I tried to order a scoop of one flavor, I was told that I couldn't have it because there wasn't enough left for a full scoop. When I asked if I could have the half scoop that remained and just combine it with another flavor (trying to solve the problem for them), I was told that they aren't allowed to do half and half splits anymore. Fortunately, another employee showed up at that very moment with a fresh full tub of that flavor, but it still struck me as odd. They were also out of cones because of another problem. I am giving them four stars because the ice cream is still great and definitely worth a try if you've never had it, but I hope they can maintain their spark and magic as they continue to expand.
