​Unprofessional Management and Disregard for Safety/Policy I had a deeply disappointing experience at Bearded Monkey tonight. A patron had a very young puppy (only a few weeks old) inside the bar where the music was extremely loud. When I politely asked staff to enforce their own policy regarding pets being restricted to the patio for the animal's safety, I was met with complete hostility by the manager on duty. ​The "manager" (a bearded man who refused to provide his name) was incredibly rude from the start. When I expressed concern for the puppy, he argued with me, making excuses about why he wouldn't talk to the patron, even suggesting I should go confront her myself. He dismissively claimed that "puppies" aren't "dogs" and therefore the policy didn't apply. ​Most disturbingly, when he finally did go over, he clearly pointed me out to the patron, causing an unnecessary and tense confrontation between customers. When I tried to speak with him afterward, he was dismissive, slurred his speech, and told me, "I've been drinking, you've been drinking"--an insulting assumption considering I was on my first drink. ​It is clear this individual has no interest in customer service, animal welfare, or maintaining a professional environment. Typical neighborhood bar. I was here to watch a hockey game. Service was good as busy as it was. Decent menu choices and good beer selection. Great TV and sound system I would come back gir another game. I had the monkey tails appetizer. Not really finger food, I needed a sharp knife to cut them up, otherwise the bacon and pepper separate. Stopped by to check out the new Monkey in Lavon. Nice setup, has all the new place smells to it and a wide selection of beverages with multiple TV screens. Should be great for watching televised sporting events. There's 3 pool tables but no one was using them at the time. I didn't get a chance to try the food, but they do seem to have wide variety of comfort food to choose from. Few cons: 1) Parking is going to be a problem. I went by around 2pm and took my laptop to get some work done. I got the last parking space available. When I went inside it was not crowded at all, so the other businesses in the strip mall were also needing parking space. Hopefully better when the other businesses close for the day. 2) They do have Wifi, but the music is pretty loud, so not a great place to try to get any work done, and way too much country music for my taste. Some dude was sitting next to me practically yelling at his friend and belly laughing constantly. I finally had to leave and go to Starbucks so I could hear myself think. 3) They only serve draft beer in these tiny little glasses and they are EXPENSIVE. They are the smallest glasses I have ever seen. 10oz maybe? It looked like a kid's sippy cup to me. My normal spot serves beer in small, pint and pitcher. I won't be going here if I intend to do any drinking beyond a couple of beers. It's good Lavon finally has a place to sit down and catch a cold one, so hoping this place works out okay. If they could fix the beer situation I would probably set up camp, but as it stands I will most probably be visiting intermittently. read more

If you like to play pool then you will most likely love this place. They have a good amount of pretty nice looking pool tables. Beer is a decent price and they do have a meager selection of local craft beer; very meager. If you're hungry belly is looking for some good food like my hungry belly was, this is probably not the place for you. My hungry belly did like the Frito pie but it would have been a lot better had they put enough chili to cover all the Fritos. I probably had three or four mouthfuls of nothing but Fritos. The monkey balls we're supposed to be a mix of steak and rice and the steak was unidentifiable visually and in taste as well. The monkey balls were one of the worst things I've ever eaten at any restaurant in my life. The pizza was just okay, we had the barbecue chicken pizza and there was a generous amount of chicken but all I could taste was the barbecue sauce which wasn't exceptional by any means. The highlight had to be the exceptionally large screens and the fact that they actually play the broadcast during big games rather than the exceptionally loud music that was playing when we walked in. The service seemed to be a little chaotic and we were visited by multiple people before we were actually assigned a server and none of them had any knowledge about what beers they had on tap other than the core domestic crap. Once one of the servers settled for us we did have attentive and friendly service. When my belly is hungry for a Community Mosaic or a Deep Ellum IPA close to the house to watch some sports I can see myself coming back here, other than that there is no reason to come back. 86 those monkey balls forever! read more

Probably one of the best places to watch football. Screens everywhere so there does not seem to be a bad place to sit. Waitress was attentive and nice. Queso with beef had a kick (for someone who doesn't care for spicy). Chips were good (not salted). Long dog was good. BBQ and bacon grilled cheese was yummy! Its 5 minutes from my house, perfect place to watch a game or just unwind. Yesterday I had the Frito Pie appetizer ($8) and it really hit the spot !! Classic junk food here folks - frito's with chili, fries, onions, queso, and a nice dousing of hot sauce. Place is honestly pretty good. Quite a bit of beers, not not a lot of craft beers. They have a little patio for people to sit on, which is nice. They were pretty quick with ordering and getting the food out. I wanted to try out the burgers here because they looked really good and they are. Burgers were really good and sides exceeded my expectations. Appetizers were very good as well. They have some homemade sauces too, such as spicy bbq sauce and ranch. They were all good and tasty. I'm sure they have more, but didn't ask. Not sure why people are knocking this place, but I'll be back for another burger. read more

Me and my wife waited found a table to sit at. A server talked to another table and saw us sitting next to that table. It had to be about 5-6 minutes when the server saw us sitting at the table. Two (2) minutes later a white couple came in, and sat down at a table next to us. The server then walked passed and me and my wife and said that she will be right with us, then proceeded to greet and give menus to the white couple who came in after me and my wife. Decided to check the bearded monkey for Sunday afternoon football, and it def didn't disappoint. The apps were delicious and the chili cheese fries brought back nostalgia from the chili cheese fries served in high school.Didn't get to photograph the entrees but the spicy chicken sandwich was good! Their Buffalo sauce is unlike any I've tried, tangy and just delicious. We also ordered the lemon pepper wings and I felt like it could have used more seasoning.. waitress was Corei very attendant despite it being busy. Never again. This is the 2nd "Now we know" this week. UGH. Went there last night for my son's 25th birthday...big mistake. They probably know how to make a nice drink, but beyond that forget it. Had 4 burgers ordered at our table and 2 orders were incorrect when it came to the sides, my son's burger had nothing on it but sauce and cheese and he was asked if he wanted everything on it...which he did. The 1 order of wings was tasteless. And, the street tacos weren't great. Gave the waitress a $10 bill asking for 1s so that 4 in our party could play some pool...she promptly forgot about it. Had to ask her where the 1s were. Finally got them and the 4 in our party that went to play pool were met with some not so nice folks...one of which told one of them that she had his pool stick (which was just sitting there and we all asked if the sticks were being used). The place is so loud the waitresses can hardly hear you. The screen behind the bar, which is the largest screen in the place, was 4 separate TVs put together...and playing an MLB game...(which would be great if there wasn't a black line down the center of the the TVs where the strike zone is). It was my first time here me and my sister and cousin were looking for a little fun and drinking. This was the closest bar to us on a Friday night, we got here around 9pm it wasn't as packed as you would think but there was alot of people still. They had live band it was awesome they played good! They also have several pool tables for those who like to play. The drinks were okay they do the job of getting you the buzz you need after a couple. The nachos we ordered were basic obvi once you drink they start to taste good. I would definitely come back again tho! read more

Super unprofessional place. Waitresses taking shots the second the clock out, owner just chilling playing pool not actually checking on the staff or people. The worst was seeing the "chef" come out and taking a shot then going back to work. He did it in the kitchen with the doors wide open. The place starts to smell of burnt food like every 30. We saw someone's shot go through over 4 different waitresses hands before figuring out where it, this happened multiple times.
