We found Bearno's staff to be friendly, and the restaurant was very comfortable. The walls are covered with movie posters and sports photos, all with a hometown connection. As for the food, we tried three different pizzas (BBQ Chicken, Super Veggie, and cheese). All were Louisville-style, which we were told was a thin-crust pizza with a sweet sauce. The pizza was thin crust with a ton of toppings on the Veggie, which made the bottom soggy. Everyone is accustomed to their own regional pizza. Their food was ok. We ordered the salad which they gave us a good amount of dressing. The salad had a lot of raw onions. Their pizza was very undercooked. I had the cheese and it was nothing to go crazy about it tasted like frozen pizza. The bbq pizzas sauce got old fast. I'd never heard of Louisville Style Pizza so had to try it. Did the Mama's Special. First off I love a round pizza cut into small squares. Crust was very good, sturdy and crispy. Toppings were basically combo and were very good. Loved the green olives and sausage. Tried the meatball app and they were solid covered in sauce (cheese for an up charge). So every time I come and visit Louisville, I try to find small little places that might have some great food. As I was walking the downtown area, I found Bearno's and I was totally impressed. From my friendly bartender/waitress to the food that I ordered, I loved every bite. The restaurant is in the basement of the corner building. The bar is totally cool and it has a Cheers feel. So I didn't know what a "Louisville Pizza" was until now. Award winning and just slightly different enough to be their own, the Louisville pizza is Da Bomb! Bearno's has a singular taste that I very much enjoy but this location isn't the best. They undercook the pizza leaving it doughy and it doesn't come hot, even when being delivered to a close by location. I've had it delivered 3 times to the hospital I work at over the past year and it always comes underdone. This last time I even asked for it to be well done and this...along with the requested delivery time was completely ignored. They brought it undercooked and doughy as ever and a half an hour early. When you're at work this can be a problem. They also didn't get the toppings right. For the price of this pizza I expect more. So I'm done. There are other pizza places in the immediate area that deliver to Jewish Hospital. I'll be giving one of them a try next time. read more

Service was a bit slow and it took over 45min to get our food. Once we received it, we had noticed it was an incomplete order of wings. Our additional 3wings were later brought out. Stopped in here for dinner as we are in town for training. I don't understand how they are rated as 3 of 5 stars overall? I ordered the all meat (small)- it was $23 but I thought, what the heck. When it was delivered to the table, I was blown away. It was thin crust but was an inch thick with meat, sauce, & cheese. It was absolutely delicious! My friend ordered a cheese (meh- only cheese should be a crime) it was also good. I was originally going to not write a review on this place but a waiter changed my mind. I was initially greeted by a waitress that did not really care about the service all that much just enough to keep her job and did the minimum. I did not get her name and she didn't bother to get mine but this review is not about her, This review is more about Andrew H. He went above and beyond any and all expectations. He took the time to get my name and call me by name and treated me more like a friend than just another customer. Given just how crazy busy it was on Valentine's day, the service was outstanding and worth 5 stars. I had a large takeout order for 6 people and it was a fairly complicated order since I had to make phone calls to see what alternatives my party at the convention center wanted. Yes they were out of sandwiches and lasagna but they had the pizza and the chicken wings. But the patience, understanding and respect for people that Andrew had this past Friday night cannot go unnoticed. His excellent service gets a 5 star rating from me. The ambiance is as expected of any restaurant. I wasn't really paying that much attention to it because I was getting a to go order. But when I visit Louisville again and get that place, I will have to ask for Andrew as my server again. He did an EXCELLENT job. read more

Our server was Maddie, she was friendly and a great server. Quick and attentive! She even took a picture for us on the balcony! The pizza wasn't very good and that may be personal preference. This was recommended by a co-worker who always ordered and picked up their pizza. Upon arrival to this gorgeous location we are greeted by none other than NOONE! Yep that is right... after standing at the front door for several minutes we finally asked (what looked to be a 14yr old) busboy who asked if we were there to watch the game. When we said "No" he directed us on into the actual bar area telling us to sit where we wanted. We decided on a booth directly across from the wait station at the bar. And sat... and sat... and sat. Eventually a girl came by and dropped off menus and asked for our drink order. When I said I would like to see a beer list she left in a huff and didn't return. After another few minutes of waiting we finally stood up to go and the bartender entered the room for the first time in 15 to 20 minutes. Looked at us and asked if we wanted anything. I proceeded to explain that we had hoped to see a drink menu a while back but due to the time it has taken we were going to try somewhere else. The response I received was "Oh, Ok." The absolute worst customer service tonight. I understand a convention is in town. They are swamped and over worked. There was 1 table occupied in front and 6 people at the bar at 8pm at night. I went into make a reservation for the following night and stood at their counter for 20 minutes with zero acknowledgment other than blank stares from the staff. This Bearno's was across the street from our hotel, so after volleyball we went to eat. It wasn't crowded, so we had plenty of room between us and the other tables, and we were sat immediately. Not sure if this is normal, but the menu was limited. None of the pasta dishes or sandwiches seemed available. We ordered the meatball appetizer, a salad, and pizzas. Again, not sure if this location always does this, but they gave us paper plates and plastic utensils for everything. Not a big deal; just a little odd for what is clearly a sit down restaurant. The food was excellent, just like the food was a couple of weeks ago when we ordered from a different location. I will suggest NOT getting the thick crust pizza. We tried it, and while the pizza was good, the thick crust didn't do anything for us. Go with the regular crust and you won't go wrong. The meatballs with cheese appetizer is one of our favorites. All in all, if you're downtown and want some really good pizza, give Bearno's by the Bridge a look. read more
