Service was horrible told me I couldn't get the pizza I wanted because it wasn't already made and my dads spaghetti looked like it was thrown together and cheese not even melted. Used to love this place but it's awful now.

I can't believe this is my first review for Old School! We love coming here, specifically to this location. The staff is always super nice & outgoing. It's never too crowded. So we are always able to find a seat at the bar in front of their TVs to watch basketball or football. It has a very chill pizza joint vibe. The pizza is always delicious. You can get by the slice - they always have 6+ pizzas available for their "by the slice." We love to get order an 18" pizza - half & half. Their BBQ pizza is AMAZING. Definitely recommend trying this place out!

Better than Domino's, Pizza Hut, Papa John's. I've always played it safe with Papa John's or Domino's, but Old School NY Pizza has them beat. Best pizza I have ever had. Just heard of them this year and have had them 7 times or so since then. Have tried a different pizza types every time I've gone and they're consistently amazing.

Hi, stop by and wanted to get a slice of pizza to give this spot a try. I walked in I was greeted counter. I ordered one pepperoni slice. It was four dollars and some change which I thought was rather expensive for just a slice of pizza. I have been in New York and I've had many of their dollar slices that were bigger and just as tasty. The pizza itself was good. I did enjoy it but I'm gonna give it a three stars because as I said, I think for the price it's not gonna do the job

This is THE go-to place when you're looking for New York style pizza in Louisville. It's sold by the slice here (a few topping options in the case) and the size, crust, grease, and bake of these slices is just right *chef's kiss* You can of course get whole pizzas if desired. Keep in mind this isn't the Neapolitan style pizza that's also popular in New York, but rather the more native, ubiquitous New York style that you get when you aren't "going out to eat" there but instead just grabbing a slice casually. There isn't much ambiance here, but who needs it when the slices are this good.

First my favorite pizza pie ..?wondering if they ever let people use the bar area for a rehearsal dinner ..

Glad we are your favorite. We definitely have groups and block off the bar side for special events depending on number of people. Stop by to discuss dates and details. Or we can talk via phone.

    Is the crust thin?

    Yes. Perfectly thin!

    Any gluten free pizza options?

Sorry we do not offer that option. We make our dough fresh everyday so there is always flour in the air and on surfaces which would contaminate gluten free crusts and we do not want to expose customers to gluten that medically can’t have it. Seeing…

Tucked away on Frankfort Avenue, it's a little off the beaten path, and parking can be an adventure. There's a small lot by the restaurant with overflow parking further down the hill. Somehow we managed to snag the only open space right outside the front door, which felt like winning a very specific Louisville lottery. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation and the place was already buzzing. It was packed with locals, which is usually a good sign. While our table was being bussed, three different employees checked to make sure we were being helped. We let them know we were just a little early and waiting on our table, but it spoke volumes about the attentiveness of the staff. The atmosphere is exactly what you want from a neighbourhood pizza spot: relaxed, lively, and unpretentious. The soundtrack quietly floating through the speakers was a crate-digger's delight, full of songs that have been sampled throughout hip-hop history. Hearing Lynn Collins' Think (About It) while waiting for dinner felt particularly apt following the recent passing of Rob Base. The song's iconic break became the foundation of It Takes Two, one of hip-hop's most recognisable records, and it was a nice reminder of how deeply great music connects generations. To start, we ordered the Olives & Togarashi, a bowl of Castelvetrano olives coated in a wonderfully aromatic blend of spices with notes of fennel, sesame and citrus. My son tried his first olive and was genuinely shocked by the flavour. He'll come around eventually. For the main event, we ordered three large pizzas: the DOP Margherita, the Funghi and the Original Sting. The DOP Margherita showcases imported buffalo mozzarella from Campania alongside basil and San Marzano tomatoes. The Funghi is loaded with an incredible blend of mushrooms, taleggio, pecorino cream and mozzarella. The Original Sting combines soppressata, fresh mozzarella, basil, tomato and spicy local honey in a sweet-and-savoury combination that completely works. Now, let's talk about the crust. It is perfect. Pillowy and light, yet substantial enough to give you that satisfying chew. The wood-fired oven creates just the right amount of charred bubbling around the edges. Our server offered house-made ranch and other dipping sauces for the crust, but we politely declined. This pizza doesn't need any enhancers. The balance of flavours across all three pies was exceptional. I've eaten pizza all over the world, and Pizza Lupo belongs in that conversation. It really is that good. We had a plan: sample all three pizzas and leave just enough room to split the tiramisu. Thankfully, we stuck to it. The tiramisu was fresh, light and beautifully balanced. Not overly sweet, nicely moist, with just enough espresso flavour coming through. It was the perfect finish to an outstanding meal. The service was fast without feeling rushed, friendly without feeling scripted, and genuine throughout the evening. We left full, not bloated, and happy as spring lambs, already talking about what we'd order next time. We'll defo be back. Cheers, Sam

Theyre doing wood fired Neapolitan style pizza with sourdough. It has a really amazing chewy texture. We went with the Puttanesca.. briny and tasty. Good with wine, too. We also got the Fungi with a variety of local mushrooms. We also loved the funky Caesar salad with anchovies.. i love anchovies... The space has a cool, intimate atmosphere that's great for couples or small groups, the staff is super friendly, and they've got fun merch for sale at the front. We arrived about 7 on Saturday night, it was busy, but we were able to be seated within 10 min. Amazing location with street parking available. Great selection of Bourbon and beers available, and a great menu. They offer 4 styles of pizza: thin, original, thick, and Sicilian. We went with original, and it was perfect crust, with a chewy edge. Louisville style is two layers of cheese and toppings, with a slightly thicker than thin crust. We loved it, but it's very filling. Lots of leftovers, which is never bad. We always get 16in to maximize our slice to pizza ratio. Service was fast and attentive, their pizzas do take longer than your average, but it was worth it. I think ours took about 25 min.

My book club met at Impellizzeri's this week, and upon discovering several of us have dietary limitations, the server and kitchen staff went above and beyond to accommodate our needs and ensure our ongoing health. A wonderful kitchen wizard ventured out into the dining room to talk to us personally, and confirmed that all the traditional pizza doughs, pastas, and red sauces are vegan. He offered to create a custom pasta dish with a variety of vegetables (spaghetti pomarola with garlic, spinach, and mushrooms), and ensured that the breadsticks that accompany the pasta dish (traditionally made with garlic butter and cheese) were vegan, prepared in a separate location in the kitchen to ensure no dairy contamination. For those with other food allergies and intolerances they ensured every detail was correct, even noticing that a pizza that was inadvertently prepared with an offending food item, and remaking it before it was even finished baking. Pricing is incredibly reasonable for the quantity and the truly excellent service, which is what truly made the experience special. My pasta dish was tasty. Is it the best pasta I've ever had? No - but it wasn't trying to be. What Impellizzeri's does well is serve good food at reasonable prices, in a location and with people who have an eye for detail and a passion for excellent customer service. Well done.
