Typically I focus more on the food (because obviously) however this time I'm highlighting the service. My book club met at Impellizzeri's this week, and upon discovering several of us have dietary limitations, the server and kitchen staff went above and beyond to accommodate our needs and ensure our ongoing health. A wonderful kitchen wizard ventured out into the dining room to talk to us personally, and confirmed that all the traditional pizza doughs, pastas, and red sauces are vegan. He offered to create a custom pasta dish with a variety of vegetables (spaghetti pomarola with garlic, spinach, and mushrooms), and ensured that the breadsticks that accompany the pasta dish (traditionally made with garlic butter and cheese) were vegan, prepared in a separate location in the kitchen to ensure no dairy contamination. For those with other food allergies and intolerances they ensured every detail was correct, even noticing that a pizza that was inadvertently prepared with an offending food item, and remaking it before it was even finished baking. Pricing is incredibly reasonable for the quantity and the truly excellent service, which is what truly made the experience special. My pasta dish was tasty. Is it the best pasta I've ever had? No - but it wasn't trying to be. What Impellizzeri's does well is serve good food at reasonable prices, in a location and with people who have an eye for detail and a passion for excellent customer service. Well done. read more

We ordered the pizza card, a fundraiser for the Crusade for Children. For $49 , you get one large, one topping pizza at 10 establishments in the Kentuckiana area. This is a terrific deal, plus it makes us get out of our rut at eating at our favorite place all the time. I will be honest, I have not been to Impellizerri's in years. We've been to Italy and Italian Switzerland many times and love their very thin, fold in your hand pies which have fresh tomato sauce and flavorful local cheese. I was hopeful- Impelliizeris had a thin crust option! Unfortunately, it was as disappointing as I remember. The crust is too doughy, the sauce is bland and the cheese was thick and tasteless. We didn't even eat our leftovers. I don't understand why so many like this, perhaps I should order something else if I return. Just a no from us! read more

While traveling in Louisville, we decided we had to try Louisville style pizza, of course. The recommendation from Google and Yelp was Impellizzeri's hands down, so off we went! We arrived about 7 on Saturday night, it was busy, but we were able to be seated within 10 min. Amazing location with street parking available. Great selection of Bourbon and beers available, and a great menu. They offer 4 styles of pizza: thin, original, thick, and Sicilian. We went with original, and it was perfect crust, with a chewy edge. Louisville style is two layers of cheese and toppings, with a slightly thicker than thin crust. We loved it, but it's very filling. Lots of leftovers, which is never bad. We always get 16in to maximize our slice to pizza ratio. Service was fast and attentive, their pizzas do take longer than your average, but it was worth it. I ventured to this place after my coworker recommended it. As I love pizza and just a plain cheese pizza at that. I went on a Sunday around 2pm and the place was pretty bare. I sat at the bar for quick service and TV time. The bar was clean and getting a close parking spot was not hard. I ordered the garlic bread and decided to get a sausage pizza. I was hoping the sausage would be either chopped or meatball like. However I was very puzzled to see it shaved like this? I was completely turned off by the pizza, it looks like dirt worms honestly. The sausage did not taste well and I ended up throwing away the whole thing! I think the garlic bread is amazing, however the pizza not so much. read more

I've been waiting to go to the Impellizzeri's on Bardstown Road for several years. They did not disappoint! We got a pizza with pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms & got a bigger size to have leftovers. Nope, we ate all of it. lol The store was very busy with just 1 man taking care of all of the tables. But he crushed it & did an awesome job. Can't wait to go back & get another pizza! read more

This is the slowest pizza place. Placed an order for three pizzas and it stated to be ready in an hour. Showed up and they hadn't even started the order. It took us waiting another 30 minutes. The place was so slow that there were multiple tables left with dishes from people from god knows when left out. read more

What can I say, love their Pizza. We introduced a couple of out of town friends to Impellizzeri's on Monday night. Service was great, pizza was very tasty and our friend said it all when she sated "You know this is a real pizza place, they have anchovies!" . All in all, a great night. read more

I hate that I have to give a 1-star rating (on the spot) but...this is the 4th time I've ordered online and had to wait more than 30 minutes beyond the pick-up time. I get being busy but management needs to get a clue. If you see that you're behind due to an excessive number of door dash and take-out orders, I'm sure there's a way to adjust or build in additional time for when an order will be ready. Sat outside on a Saturday night in this new Covid world with a party of three. Menu is now a touchless scan QR code to bring it up on your phone. Works great. We ordered the 12" Deluxe ($23) and 14" Bianco ($15). Both were tasty, but each were overcooked with more burnt crust than should be expected for such an expensive pizza offering. Had not been here in years, and really was surprised how much we enjoyed ourselves. We had a very friendly bartender (Anthony) who greeted us quickly. He was quick to make some recommendations, which worked out well. They have a surprisingly large bourbon menu with really great prices. So if you just want to do some bourbon sampling, you should go here and save yourself some cash. The pizza was very good and was brought to us quickly. Parking is probably challenging on a weekend, but there are some street parking spots nearby. Bathrooms were clean, nothing fancy. And if I am remembering correctly, they were gender neutral bathrooms. Ambience is pretty chill, nothing fancy. They do have some cool bourbon themed lighting around the restaurant. So a few years ago I went to Impellizerri's on Blankenbacker. It was lunch time and they had a lunch special pizza. I was very underwhelmed and was wondering why I had been told by a few people this was the best in Louisville. The service was poor. I think my waitress was questioning her life choices. I didn't leave a review because I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Off day. Maybe lunch special pizzas aren't the same as regular pizzas. Today I decided to give them another try. I chose the location on Bardstown because I figured there's a lot more competition for dining dollars so maybe a little more attention to detail would be had. It was. Our waiter was the best. We ate outside in the heat. I'm still not totally comfortable eating inside right now. The beers are very cold and that scores lots of points for me. The pizza was very good. I saw awhile ago that Zagat's said this was the best pizza in Kentucky. I don't know about that but it is the best pizza I've eaten in Louisville. Great mozzarella with plenty of stretch. Was in town for work and looked for some good food and TV's to watch football. Place is very nice inside and like the couches for sure. Nice big bar and seating. The food was solid for sure. I got the meatball sub and it's huge and very tasty. My coworker got a pizza with pepperoni and sweet sausage and was good. The downside was service was meh at best. Maybe it was because it was Sunday night andsloe so out waiter was not overly excited about anything. We had a bunch of drinks and rolled up a good size bill so was expecting some better service. This is my favorite spot in Louisville to get pizza. The pizza here is amazing! Impellizzeris has an energetic atmosphere that I would recommend all pizza connoisseurs to come and experience.The lighting is unique for the simple fact that they use old whiskey bottles to give off a inviting and relaxing affect. I've been in here once before they closed for remodeling. Before it was dark and depressing now, it's a bright and happy atmosphere. I suggested to my friend that we eat dinner here again sometime so, we came here for dinner very same evening, and I'm so glad we did. We dined in and were seated promptly. We had an absolute wonderful server. I believe her name was Ariana. She was very attentive and had a wonderful attitude. Now to the food, we didn't get pizza this time around. My friend got a lasagna and I got an Italian sub. We did share cheese sticks that were good. My friend had very buttery breadsticks with their lasagna. I tried a bite and it was good but a little too much garlic butter. In all the service was great. There is still a little bit of waiting time when it comes to food but worth the wait. Impellizzeri's Pizza has always been a favorite of my family. We have been going there for as long as I can remember. The food and service are always amazing!! They have multiple locations but we usually got to the Highlands location. It has a cute red door out front and a warm inviting vibe. There is plenty of free street parking and a small parking lot in the back. The family-size house salad is a great start to your meal with the breadsticks that are always great! I've had their fettuccine alfredo pasta and spaghetti with meatballs and they are very good! The baked manicotti is very good too and all pasta comes with breadsticks! The pizzas are awesome, The veggie pizza or cheese is my favorite and the sausage is good too! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu! read more

Our team made multiple to go orders. We everything ordered came out very quickly and we everything ordered from pizza and pasta to salads were absolutely delicious. We sat at the bar while waiting and our bar tender Megan was awesome. She was quick to get orders and made sure that everyone had everything they needed /wanted. We both absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this restaurant. Our favorite is the Garlic Bread Sticks...they are OMG the Best ever!!! The bread is nice hot, fluffy and hot buttery. Only thing missing is some fresh Basil sprinkled all over the hot goodness!!! I DON'T care what you order there, you have to get that BREAD! I also enjoy their Cheese Manicotti. I have been eating their pizza since the 1980's and it has really gone downhill since the previous owner sold it. We were there on a Saturday afternoon around 3:30 and only 2 tables had customers yet it took 15 minutes before anyone came over to take drink orders. Then it took another 15 minutes to get our drinks. The pizza has really gone downhill as far as quality and taste. The meatball sub was tasteless and had no marinara sauce on it. I was in town visiting from Chicago and was told they have better pizza than what you find in Chicago. On Mondays, it is $10 for a small pizza and a beer (a steal!). I ordered to go, and the bartender was super friendly and helped me pick out the spicy pepperoni thin crust pizza and the breadsticks. Everything was piping hot. I am giving 2 stars because the service was great. However, I would NOT recommend getting pizza here. Honestly, Dominos is better. This tastes like pizza you'd get at a bowling alley. It is super breaded. My pizza did not have sauce on it (but maybe that's how it comes). It just tasted like bread and cheese. This was our first stop in Louisville. We got there late and the staff was very helpful. We had our puppy with us and all though they didn't have an open area they did make an exception for us. We were very hungry since we had waited to to have dinner in Louisville. It was worth it. We wanted to order a little of everything and didn't know what to order.
