This was our second time dining here; the first time being shortly after they opened. The restaurant is really beautiful inside with accents of green and gold and white. Outdoors, there's plenty of table space, a bar, and a stage for live music. It looked like it has been expanded since my first time there. I'm glad to see this restaurant doing well in Old Town Pompano. Our server was very friendly and assisted us with our questions about the menu. As we were there for brunch, we settled on fried green tomatoes Eggs Benedict, steak and eggs, and shrimp and grits. The fresh biscuits sounded so good that we ordered them. We should have asked for them to come out early, so we could enjoy them while we were waiting. However, we took them home and enjoyed them the next day. We also made the mistake of ordering a side of potatoes. That was definitely not necessary because two of the entrées came with potatoes, and we had more than plenty for the table. Again, something we enjoyed the next day. We were all impressed with what we ordered. Everything came out hot and cooked just as we had asked. My shrimp and grits were absolutely delicious. I also thought it was also nice that our server asked if we wanted to take our refilled drinks to go and prepared to go cups for us. This restaurant has been consistent for us, and I definitely plan to be back. Next time, I'd like to check out their live music scene and get a table outside when the weather gets a little cooler.

If you are looking for some delicious southern cooking from an actual grandma in her kitchen, then this is your spot! The food is ready when it's ready, don't rush the process and you better clean your plate. I really felt like I just visited my granny"s house. The food was delicious. We got one of the family meals that came with 3 chicken wings 3 fried ribs, 2 fried pork chops and two sides. The collard greens were so flavorful and had big chunks of pork in it. If you're driving a larger truck, be aware that parking is available but pretty tight. Once inside, we were warmly greeted by the host, who was incredibly friendly and escorted us to our table. Our waitress was just as wonderful--attentive, personable, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. There was music playing everyone there was enjoying themselves. Since it was Tuesday, we both ordered the all-you-can-eat fried catfish special for $21.99. They start you off with hush puppies and coleslaw, and when your meal arrives, you get your choice of a side. We both chose the fries. The portions were generous, with plenty of crispy fried catfish on the plate. The fish itself had great flavor, was perfectly crispy, and wasn't over-breaded. The hush puppies were delicious, and the French fries were cooked just right. My husband, who considers himself a bit of a coleslaw connoisseur, really enjoyed the coleslaw. I wasn't as impressed with it, but that's just my personal preference. My biggest disappointment was the tartar sauce. For a restaurant that's been around as long as Catfish Dewey's, I expected a homemade tartar sauce. Instead, it came in a pre-packaged container and tasted overwhelmingly of onion. Unfortunately, it just wasn't for me. If I were rating everything individually, I'd give the catfish a 7/10, the hush puppies an 8/10, the fries an 8/10, the coleslaw a 5/10, and the tartar sauce a 0/10. Overall, we enjoyed our visit, especially the friendly service and the crispy catfish. While it wasn't the best fried catfish we've had, it was still a good meal. As I always say, don't let my opinion make your decision. Everyone's taste is different, so go try it for yourself and form your own opinion. You might love it!

The atmosphere was rustic and down home. A perfect setting. The cashier/order taker was a gracious lady, polite, and attentive. The place had a pleasant, smoky aroma, just like it should. My wife and I went for the food, which is the central point of going to a restaurant. And the results met my expectations of the "Texas Standard". Brisket: full of flavor, with a nice smoky and all round taste. A minor issue was that it could have been a bit more moist. I say minor because this is the easiest thing to correct, by small adjustment. First rate. Spare ribs: excellent. My wife was over the moon. She is Brazilian and a veteran of Brazil BBQ. They were delicious. Chicken: perfectly smoked and moist. Even the white meat. There was a present bark on the surface, which added to the taste. Sausage: delightful. High quality. Sauces: regular and tangy. As good as I have ever tasted. Potato Salad: The best I have ever tasted in my 78 years. Different and unique. Coleslaw: Perfect. Cannot, in my opinion, be improved upon. Price: surprisingly fair. Very fair. I was pleasantly surprised at such Texas quality in Fort Lauderdale. We will be going to no other for BBQ.
