Been going here for well over a decade mainly for their oysters. They have stayed reasonable with their raw oyster prices during times other restaurants have tripled or quadrupled their prices. This is a quick review to show some appreciation. We sat outside, which is a nice open space with complete shading. Our server was very attentive even though it is a much longer walk back and forth. This was a quick session with 4 dozen raw oysters, Corona Light on tap, and great company. They have a huge menu that would take a long time to sample. I recommend asking the locals and staff to help narrow down your choices. I personally recommend all of the raw bar options and the peel and eat shrimp. With the peel and eat, go with the warm/spiced option. They get it right with the Old Bay embedding itself deep in the shell. Grab a friend and check this place out. read more

First time visit with husband and son and WOW!!!! Now this was one awesome experience!!! Decorated like I was swimming under water!! Staff pleasant and friendly and answering my million questions with smiles. Prices to encourage EVERYONE THE ABILITY TO DINE OUT !!!!!! The food was delicious and outstanding !!! The conch chowder was the absolute finest we have ever had especially since it was prepared in the kitchen on site!!!! Carrots soft and added gentle flavor and the conch itself chopped to enable ease of chewiness and delicious tenderness. I forgot to ask for the sherry because I didn't need it! Husband had burger and fries and he planned to take it home but it was all gone by time he realized that was his plan. Son had oyster po boy and he loved it!!! My friend comes here often & recommended it. So- we met for lunch. At first, I had trouble finding the restaurant. It's in the middle of a shopping plaza. Once I found it- I was glad to find a handicap spot right in front. As soon as I walked in, there were tables & benches for outdoor dining. Really interesting fish decor & lighting. There is a host booth there as well. We went to eat inside. There are a couple of bars & additional seating as well. I heard the oysters on the half shell were good- I ordered them. They were good. I'm 20 years overdue in leaving Muddy Waters a stellar review. I've been a local since '05. We showed up with the mischievous doggies for some outdoor dining adventure. We both ordered a Bloody Mary and I started with an oyster shooter before we delved into a dozen raw oysters with lemon, horseradish, and cocktail sauce. Happy Hour is 7 days a week from 4-7pm and Saturday has shrimp for 1.25 each. We went with a half dozen blackened shrimp which came with tartar sauce. I have heard so much about Muddy Waters & I'm excited to meet friends here for lunch, wearing my Tommy Bahamas best. They're known to have the best lobster, fresh seafood, comfort food and casual island vibe. This kitschy pirate-themed restaurant & sports bar has with karaoke & music nights. They offer a loyalty club, sell colorful swag, have big screen TVs at the bars for sports and a happy hour. The first Saturday of every month they barbecue seafood over charcoal here. It was difficult to find the restaurant, it was sort of hidden. They are located in a nondescript strip mall with free parking in front. There are 2 dining areas, 2 unique bars & an outdoor covered patio. The restaurant was very dark so we sat outside at a table with benches that rocked. Rockstar was our waitress and she was on point. Now the menu, there were pages, it was a hard choice. Everything looked and sounded delicious. The chowders, sandwiches, barbecued ribs, fish, mac & cheese po'boys, salads, tacos, burgers, pastas & seafood platters filled a huge menu. I ordered lobster bisque with an oyster Rockefeller appetizer, both were tasty. My husband enjoyed his oyster po' boy with mountains of onion rings, although he said it wasn't authentic. We had -Raw oysters $1.75 each. -Black & Blue Shrimp, 6 spicy grilled medium sized shrimp, with blue cheese dipping sauce. Tasted great but a small portion -Portobello Salad with balsamic vinegarette. -Fried Oyster Poor Boy sandwich. Delicious -Tues Drink special was tasty $7 coconut rum pineapple drink! Ignored by bartenders (who were chatting among themselves and looked directly at me) when standing at the bar area for pick up, finally when I spoke up one of them came over and was very condescending And flat out rude! Poor customer service is not as bad as paying $13.00 for a chicken Philly (Wednesday special) that didn't even cover the whole bun and after careful investigation had exactly 7 small squarish chicken pieces covered by way too much cheese. We are snowbirds in Florida every winter and heard about Muddy Waters a few years ago. We love to come here as often as we can , good deals at Happy Hour and the bartenders know how to pour !! It's always fun , the clientele and staff are easy to talk to, lots of regulars but most of all it is unpretentious!! The food choices are very good seeing how many tables are eating. We have had oysters both raw and cooked and they are always fresh and good, calamari were some of the best we ever tasted , conch chowder nice and spicy . Wish this place was closer to home! Great dive bar with bar food. Came here on a Sunday and sat outside. It's amazing that the outside part is so cutely decorated with plants, trees and sea themed decorations. We had the following: 2 draft beers, a dozen raw and fresh oysters, cold - spiced shrimp, a crispy wedge salad, fries and blackened mahi mahi. Everything we had was fresh and tasty. The restaurant definitely has personality. It is a good-sized place with a nice outdoor sitting area. It has those rocking booths. They did a good job with the decorations. It's nice and tropical. The inside is a must-see. I felt like I was on a pirate island with so many cool decorations all round me. I sat across the treasure chest lol. I got the clam chowder. I liked it. This spot is tucked away in an unassuming strip mall but don't let that deter you. This place is amazing! While visiting family in Deerfield we decided to stop by Muddy Waters for dinner and we were so impressed. It has a fun low key kind of divey seafood vibe. We stopped by on a Sunday and were surprised to find out we were right on time for happy hour. Our server let us know they have happy hour daily which is great to know! For my entree I went with the blackened mahi Caesar wrap with a baked sweet potato. The mahi was delicious and the meal was so filling. My boyfriend got the rack of ribs and the sauce was so nice and smokey. Others at the table got a grilled mahi wrap with fried sweet potatoes and a burger and fries. Everyone ate every last bite so I'm assuming we all loved our meals. I have to say I really appreciated the different types of side dishes they had! Our server was also so nice! We asked if he could take some photos of us and he jumped right in and took some amazing shots! He also gave us great recommendations and checked up on us throughout the meal. Saving the best for last, Muddy Waters will be my final review for 2023. I absolutely love this restaurant. It's not fancy or pretentious, nor is it expensive or have over the top food and service. The vibe is relaxed with a Key West theme throughout the restaurant. There is plenty of outside seating on their covered patio, and they have those roller rocker tables to sit on, you know the kind that swing back and forth. The guests seem to love them, but I won't sit outside as the cigarette/cigar smoke is intense. This is great for guests who smoke, but I like to get in and out of the restaurant quickly to avoid the smoke. The outside patio is dog friendly, and the servers will even bring your pup a bowl of water. How sweet! I really love the Shipload "O" Mussels, which is 1.5 pounds of plump mussels that are simmered in either marinara or a white wine garlic sauce. I stick with the white wine sauce because it's so delicious and I love garlic. You can add on pasta for a few dollars, but the mussels are more than enough on their own. They include some garlic toast to dunk in the sauce. Large peel and eat shrimp (served on ice) are fresh and delicious, and on Saturdays, they are on special for just .99 cents per shrimp! They have daily specials and happy hour is every day from 4-7pm. The fish dip is excellent, but I wish they still served it with flatbread crackers instead of tortilla chips. Also served with the fish dip are carrots, celery, tomatoes, red onions, and jalapeños. They give you a nice sized portion of fish dip, and it's very, very good. The lobster bisque was a little salty, but I still enjoyed it, and I would order it again. The shepherds pie (served on Monday) is tasty. I did take-out, and my burger was one of the better burgers I have had in a long time. They have an extensive menu with something for everyone. Even the pickiest person will find something here. For so many reasons, this is my favorite pick for 2023. I love that it's so laid-back and casual. I love the food. I love the chill vibe. I love feeling comfortable even when I come in alone. Don't come here expecting a high-end dining experience because you will not get that here. It's not fine dining by any means. But it is low-key and comfortable, along with good food, reasonable prices, and easy parking. There is no need to dress up. Just come to unwind and have some good food. There's indoor seating and a ton of outdoor seating. I thought it would be uncomfortable eating outside, but it was very cool during our meal. Our booth, as it seemed all of the booths were, had swinging benches, which made it more fun for the kids. They may suffer from having too many options on the menu. It's so hard to specialize in everything, so I think our enjoyment of the food reflected that. My reuben? It was okay. The grilled salmon? My birthday boy enjoyed it. The onion straws? Excellent. I did enjoy the buffalo wings, but we only ordered a few for an appetizer. One big complaint...the restroom. Is there only one? We went indoor to use it and found only one unisex bathroom. For a restaurant that can seat maybe 150 people, one toilet? Really? I hope I missed the goldmine of bathrooms in another part of the restaurant. read more

It's been a long time since I've visited Muddy Waters. Was in west Deerfield and decided to stop by and have lunch. We ordered the appetizer of fried oysters, their Saturday special $1 peel and eat shrimp, Grilled Mahi Fingers & the Fisherman's Mahi Reuben. Everything came out at once which isn't why you order apps but it is what it is. The oysters were so small they looked like tater tots and were nothing like they used to be. So that was disappointing. The grilled mahi was super dry and over cooked this also was a bust. The peel and eat shrimp were delicious. I order them in the spicy mud water. I could of ordered another 20 and been very happy. I also had the mahi Reuben which was a strong 3.5/5. Nicely cooked piece of fish, cheese and the toppings. Note: the bread wasn't that great it was kinda cheap and I think If the lettuce & sauce was on the bottom it might be better. All and all it was okay. If I could give negative stars I would--I found a worm in my fish, and when I told the manager he said it was a tendon. Just look at the photo- pretty obvious what it was. Pretty horrified, my family and I immediately stopped eating and didn't want to eat anything else. Manager even said a woman with chicken inside had a similar program. I felt bad for the waiter, he was embarrassed and obviously it was not his fault. People, be careful eating here--my family and I won't ever come back. Can't believe that it has been five years since my last review here. Came to meet a girlfriend for lunch and we had wonderful service and good food. We were chatting away, of course, and the server was lovely to let us do so without intrusion. We were checked on frequently and the manager even stopped by to make sure all was well. They have a large menu and a number of items looked very good. In the past, I've had their oysters, soft shell crab sandwiches, wedge salads, clams, etc etc. And I've enjoyed them all over the years. They used to have happy hour specials at the bar, too. Not sure if they still do, but when we left the bar area was fairly full -- so I think so. Each day they have some different lunch specials. They had corned beef and cabbage and shepherd's pie the day we came. But I was in the mood for seafood. The only negative for me is their outdoor seating where they allow smoking. If you are eating inside -- as we were doing -- you may have to walk through an area of smoke. We both ordered the chilled peel n eat shrimp. I got mine with old bay on the side and she got hers with cocktail sauce. The shrimp were huge and so fresh. I'd get this again in a heartbeat. Before the shrimp, we each tried their soups. She had the lobster bisque and said it was good -- it looked very creamy. I liked my clam chowder although it didn't have many clam pieces in it, it was fine. WE started out with the raw oysters they were a little plumpy and didn't taste like much of anything. Next we had the New England clam chowder and the lobster bisque, they were both just OK not really anything special. For our entrees We ordered the mahi over carribean rice and the filet with potatoes. The mahi over rice was so mushy, had no taste and was smothered completely in onions, would not recommend that dish. The steak and potatoes were bland. The service was ok I feel like I seen the manager more than I seen the waitress. He was also nice enough to take the mahi off the bill being that we didn't eat the mahi at all. If it wasn't for the spotty service, this would easily be a four star place. The first thing is the menu. The print is big and easy to read and it's got lots of options. I started out with alligator bits. Other than that, I wish the pieces would have been larger they were very8 good. And the sauce that accompanied it, it was a bit spicy with incredible flavor. Mm, good! I followed that with a cup of conch chowder. I was very surprised. It had a really good flavor as well as a nice spicy kick. It's a good thing because our server never brought me the bottle of Tabasco sauce I asked for. For dinner, I couldn't, I had to have jumbalia. I got served over angel hair pasta instead of rice, but I also had the chef give me half the amount of pasta, then they normally give.
