After settling in, we enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the Inn's restaurant. Dining outdoors beside the beautiful North Umpqua River was an unforgettable experience. The setting was absolutely breathtaking, the food was excellent, and the friendly, attentive service made for a relaxing and memorable evening. The only drawback to an otherwise exceptional stay was the complete lack of internet access. We understand that many guests appreciate the opportunity to disconnect from the modern world, and there is certainly something refreshing about being off the grid. However, as hikers exploring the area, we would have appreciated having at least limited Wi-Fi access--perhaps in the registration lobby--so we could download offline trail maps and check hiking conditions before heading out each morning. That small convenience would have made an already wonderful experience nearly perfect. Overall, Steamboat Inn is a beautiful retreat in one of Oregon's most scenic locations. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway surrounded by nature, outstanding dining, and a relaxing atmosphere, this is an excellent choice.
