It was packed on a Friday night, and we waited for the outdoor dining - the outdoor dining area was basically a cute gardenesque tent/inn with fir trees everywhere (prob for Christmas decorations) the area was spaced out pretty well from one party to another. Don't let the cold deceive you from eating out, Beat Mazesoba's outdoor dining is warm cozy and well spaced out. I'm a regular customer, average at least once / twice a month since they opened. They're Mazemen noodles is their main dish and is a whole nother taste trip. I normally get the Shoyu Ramen, which contains pork belly, egg , noodles all in a rich broth that makes the whole eating experience. I was surprised to see that this restaurant was open and able to accommodate us with indoor seating during this time (I've only been to outdoor dining these days). They have temperature checks and sign ins in the front, and the back has socially distanced seating. This place is known for their Mazebans, so my boyfriend and I got the Yuzu Shio Mazeban. We also ordered the Shoyu Mazaban, but they didn't hear our second order (which I'm lowkey glad about because with our apps, we were FULL). We got the Chicken Karaage for our appetizer and they also gave us a service of shishito peppers- thank you! Honestly, the service wasn't top-notch as they didn't give us our second order (nor did they clarify our order) and we had to ask for chopsticks twice, but the food was AMAZING. Nothing like I had before! It's a "do-it-yourself bowl" where you mix everything real good and add however much vinegar you want. The sauce was creamy and had a kick to it with the vinegar, and with the chasu pork, it was so flavorful. Can't believe I didn't hear about this gem of a place until recently, which quietly opened off Northern Blvd during the pandemic. My friends and I came early for their Daytime Lounging special, a steal of an extended happy hour on weekdays from noon to 6 PM. Drinks on tap and nigori sake are 50% off, while all other drinks are given a $2 discount. We tried almost all the small plates on the menu - a favorite was the skewers, which we ordered twice over. The pork skewers especially were perfectly grilled, rivaling that of the best Japanese BBQ places. Couldn't leave without trying their signature Beat Mazemen. This was my first time trying brothless ramen so was cautiously skeptical but I had nothing to worry about. The mazemen captured all the savory components of ramen without the added heaviness that the broth sometimes adds. There's the option of adding sesame oil to make the noodles more fragrant, but there was really no need. Providing a bowl of rice to soak up the leftover sauce was a genius last touch. But the star of the show is the food - wow! Their signature mazemen is something we've never had before but it's delicious! AMAZING!!! This place is such a star addition to the neighborhood of so many restaurants. I went on a Sunday afternoon with my gf and we had the whole back "outside" area to ourselves for half of the meal which was much appreciated because we've been trying to stay as COVID safe as possible. They had hand sanitizers on every table and took all precautions. We ordered the spicy salmon tartare and it was delicious. The fresh wasabi chip had a nice crisp and flavor without being overwhelming. The quantity of salmon was also super impressive. It was so good we ordered another one at the end of our meal. We also loved the unique flavor and textures of the best mazemen; you can taste both the shoyu flavor and Yuzu, neither is overpowering the other. The karaage was light and crispy, the little bit of seasoning was perfect. The mazemen was delicious as well. The sauce was savory and the noodles were perfectly chewy. The chashu was not the typical thin sliced meat but in chunks. It was braised to perfection and so tender. The arugula helped cut some of the richness of the meat and sauce. We were surprised by how filling it was, the portions are very generous and price is fair. The inside is modern but casual and they also have a cute seating area in the back. I'd recommend the White Peach more. Food: We ordered the Beat Mazemen and Beat Crispy Wings (Namban Flavor). This was my first time trying broth-less ramen and it was a great experience. We get everything in the bowl, add a little vinegar to it, and mix together. At the end once we finish all the noodles we add the small bowl of rice (included) and mix to finish up the sauce on the bottom. The Beat Crispy Wings (Namban) was surprisingly really good. Five stars for this new establishment on northern and Cocheron ave! I discovered this place browsing through yelp and the menu intrigued me especially their mazemen with the unique process of mixing, tasting, mixing and enjoying!! We called ahead on a Sunday and noted that they do indeed take reservations. Luckily, we got a reservation for two 30 minutes beforehand! Note: when I called, they did say Sunday's are usually busy so try to make a reservation if you go on a Sunday but just in general in times like these! We arrived and since we were a bit early and not many customers yet, they changed our table from the front curbside seating to their ADORABLE back garden-esque seating area. I was SO happy to be seated here and grateful the owner of Beat Mazemen accommodated for us. Before we stepped in through the actual restaurant, we had our temperatures taken by this standing machine (super cool but also this should be standard across all restaurants!!) When I stepped into the back seating, it looked overall aesthetically pleasing and you could tell in the little details that they really put thought and effort into this. Honestly it paid off because with the crowd around auburndale/bayside that would be attracted to these restaurants, something cozy and comfortable really helps bring in customers. The area had string lights, lots of plants, some decor and most importantly incense to help shoo away mosquitos, flies etc. Eating outdoors means that bugs are inevitable but when a restaurant tries to do something about it, it shows they care about the customer experience ! We were seated and greeted by a really friendly waitress who handed us our menus shortly after. There's a drink menu with tap beer, some specialty beers and sake and a food menu. Some of their specialty beers are posted on the wall and immediately the Fat Mango caught our eye. We also went for a Japanese white ale. As for food, we ordered the yuzu mazemen, spicy miso ramen, and chicken nanban. Food came out in just the right amount of time and spaced apart nicely. The fat mango was a super interesting mango sticky rice beer. We spoke to the owner as he kindly would stop by to ask how everything was and thoughtful enough to give us some insight into the beers they carry! Definitely interested in trying the other ones like Rolling in the Cloud! The chicken nanban was soooo good! Perfectly fried, sour and spicy. Would definitely recommend over your traditional Kara-age. The spicy miso was spicy but so delicious! Most importantly the mazemen was amazingly unique and because the sauce is so creamy, and flavorful, the umami flavor mixes so well with the rice at the end of the meal! This is the honest review from staff who works here since day one. My boss, he is very delicate to the food and drinks menu, ambience/decoration and including customer services. For the food menu: our noodles are hand pulled in the restaurant, so the freshness and excellent texture are guaranteed. We are known for "Mazemen", which is a broth-less mixed noodles dish. My favorite is "Yuzu shio mazemen", which comes with citrus flavor and succulent chashu. Moreover, my boss puts in an effort to introducing weekly specials/creating new dishes for customers to try varieties of food. For the drinks, we have an extensive selections for beer, sake and soft drinks. We constantly rotate our drink selections therefore customers could try different beers from different places. One of my favorite drinks on the menu is "Yuzu matcha iced tea" because of its unique type of taste. We also carry "Finback" beers which is brewed locally in Queen, both IPAs and DIPAs. For the safety, We check temperature for every customers before entering, and we take their contact information for covid 19 trace and provide hand sanitizer on every table. On top of that, we have an anti-bacterial company to disinfect every surface for the whole restaurant weekly, to ensure the safety for staff and customers. For the ambience/decoration, we have lots of plants and string lights in our backyard, which makes it feels cozy and comfortable. Beat Mazesoba is a place worth trying if you have a craving for Japanese noodles and tapas (appetizers). The restaurant offers something unique to the neighborhood, as it offers both mazemen (mixed noodle dish) and soba (buckwheat noodles), Japanese noodle dishes that aren't commonly highlighted in this area of Queens, as ramen is typically more popular. Beat Mazesoba has ramen as well though, so if you have a hankering for noodles, they got you covered! I tried a few of the tapas, which were the chicken kara-age (Japanese fried chicken) and the kimchi pork baos. The fried chicken was alright, though I wish they used larger chunks of chicken, as some pieces were more breading than chicken. I did really enjoy the kimchi pork bao though, as the slice of chashu pork in the bao was savory due to the glistening fat in there. The kimchi gave the bao a twinge of spice and sourness, perfect complementary flavors to the chashu. Now onwards to the main star of the night, which was the mazemen! I've never had mazemen before, but as it says on the menu, it is a popular local dish in Japan. I got the yuzu shio mazemen, which includes chashu and a poached egg on top of hand-pulled noodles with scallions, arugula, and seaweed as garnish. There is a specific procedure in eating mazemen and the staff are happy to show you how it is done. First, you need to mix all of the ingredients. After, you taste as needed and if it doesn't suit your palette, add some vinegar! Then when you're almost done with your meal, add some rice to mix in with the sauce and remaining ingredients for a nice, hearty finish. The amalgamation of all of the ingredients creates a noodle dish in perfect harmony, as the noodles were silky, smooth, and perfect for slurping. Did I mention that they were hand-pulled already? Yes I did, but I felt that it was worth mentioning again as they were nice and chewy, the perfect vehicle for carrying the yuzu shio sauce and vinegar. The cha shu was great, similar to the one used in the kimchi pork baos, and the poached egg was a nice, little touch. The vinegar was a great addition as it made the whole meal a bit more bright and fresh, especially with all of the greens added. And then there was the rice, which was the perfect finish to the meal. You may still feel a bit hungry after devouring the noodles, but drowning the rice and mixing it in with the sauce left me satisfied and full. I've been here for dine in a couple of times and wait staff made sure to follow covid guidelines, there's a tracker sign-in at the front and they take your temperature before sitting down. Appetizers were on point, I particularly liked the fried shishito peppers (not spicy) and the fried chicken baos (chicken was light and crispy). One thing I wasn't a fan of was the banh mi fries, which I think is an acquired taste. The do chua had a unique flavor, maybe cinnamon, that sort of threw me off. The food has been consistently delicious and they have a great tap list that pairs nicely with a lot of items. Their staff is so hospitable and service has always been great! I love the little steps in eating the noodles; makes for such a fun experience! 1. Mix the noodles with the poached egg 2. Eat about a quarter, then add some of their house made vinegar. The specialty mazesoba dishes are similar to tsukemen (the cuter cousin of class ramen) but the dry noodles are mixed with the sauce and toppings. The recommendation is to shred the nori into the dish, mix thoroughly, finish the noodles before mixing the provided rice. Bouts of vinegar can be added when the bites get too salty for a transformation of flavor. Basically three different experiences of flavors and textures all in one humble bowl. - Beat Mazesoba and Shoyu Mazesoba - absolutely delicious seaweed flavor - Vegan Mazesoba - tomato based with myriad of veges with soft fried tofu, recommend if you love tomato flavor - Fish tacos - 3 yummy soft shell fish tacos to share - Large mussel pot ($28) - expensive but mouth watery large serving of thai curry with mussels, clams, shrimps, and toasted baguette - Aomori apple - bubbly homemade apple cider Flavorful and harmonious flavors no matter what you order. Both were really good, I found the sangria to be so unique and refreshing. We ordering a few things to share. The first was Bao Bun Sandwiches with the pork belly, that was incredible, the bao was so fluffy. The pork was cooked perfectly. We actually got a second order. Then we had the Beat Crispy Wings with the spicy sweet sauce, they were very small so not a lot of meat and not much heat but they were so crispy and delicious. I tried the sake ikura soba this time and I think it's a great option if you want a lighter, refreshing meal. They give very generous amount of salmon and ikura but not too much soba - I love it since I don't want too much carbs anyways. The best mazeman tasted even better than last time. The pork was tender this time. The salmon tartare and the crispy seaweed chips made such good combination. Will definitely order it again next time. We also got the chicken nanban. We like it but not as much as their gingery fried chicken. The server was attentive and the chef actually brought out our food and said he created everything which I really appreciate. My husband and I went recently for lunch. The soda dishes were amazing!!! From the flavor to the presentations, it was the best! I love how each dish has a balance of protein, veggies and soba. Loved this place for lunch. Prices are a bit higher than a normal ramen place but so worth it imho. Everything we ordered was so tasty. I ordered the shoyu mazemen and it was so filling. Loved having to mix everything then adding the vinegar midway. They give a small bowl of rice to put into your bowl when you're done with noodles so you can sop up all the sauce on the bottom - so good! My son ordered the salmon ikura over rice and it was a good size- super filling and very fresh. The kids ramen was a big bowl as well. Need to come back next time for dinner so I can try their drinks! Backyard was cute and tables spaced out nicely. It was cold but they had heaters. This has been on my list to go for awhile and I'm so glad I tried it on a random weekend afternoon. Surprisingly there weren't a lot of people. This space accommodates quite a few number of tables and can even fit a large party. The beat mazemen noodles were delicious and very flavorful. The karaage was not bad. Finally got to stop by beat mezasoba. After hearing all hypes about it. And it did not disappoint. I had the shoyu mazemen. The noodles were on point. You can taste the freshness. My wife had the sukiyaki don. And again she was in love with it. Finally for the cold tuna yukke tuna. It was our first time trying cold soba. And it was delicious. The decor and ambiance was nice. Plants definitely added a nice touch to the place. Staff was really nice and helpful. Explained everything we didn't understand. And always kept checking on us. I see some reviews about the cost of the meal. Honestly. The cost of Everything has gone up. And besides. Where can you have fresh noodles Made in house? I would definitely come back again. Thought I give this place a try since we live in the neighborhood and the Yelp reviews were so good. Wife and I shared the pei (Prince Edward Island) mussels pot, bahn mi fries and the beat mazemen. The mussels were tasty. Slightly fusion in that the sauce had the familiar Italian white wine garlic sauce but I think I also tasted coconut in it. Small slices of the red chili rounded out the flavor nicely. The fries were just perfectly cooked with a crispy outside layer and a tender inside. The spicy mayo and cilantro aioli was a really good compliment. The beat mazemen had the nicely cooked egg where the yolk was just right. It had pieces of melt in your mouth flavorful pork bellies that can't be beat. The sauce stuck to the noodles and they give a small bowl of rice to slop up any remaining sauce....just genius. We also had a beer flight which gives a tasting for four types of beer of your choice. Select the four more expensive beer. You won't regret it. There seems to be really good deals on Mondays with discounts on food and happy hour. We are planning on trying it and will give an updated review. read more

Beat Mazesoba!! What an Amazing experience ! I came here through a recommendation and honestly couldn't be more impressed . They have a good amount of seating in the front and few inside and they have a Garden area in the back - which I definitely recommend - also a really cute date spot. I tried the Mazemen which is combination of the Yuzu Mazemen and Shoyu Mazemen - it was really good and filling and would recommend this if you're a big fan of citrus flavors ! It comes with both ground pork and Chausu so definitely get it if you're hungry The service was great and all the dishes were explained perfectly They also serve Desert from Kitsby - I would definitely recommend this ! The ice cream was delicious and the perfect way to end the meal. I'm so glad this is so close to me and will definitely be back! read more

Unique and truly delicious ramen. I would highly highly recommend going for their signature mazemen dishes as well as their karrage. The karrage was crisp, tender, seasoned well, and oh so tender. The mazemen is a soupless saucy ramen. The noodles are nice and chewy while the ramen itself was extremely flavorful. I personally got the beat mazemen and it was delicious, I loveeee yuzu and you can really taste it in the ramen, but it doesn't overpower anything, rather it compliments the meaty flavor fairly well. Would highly highly recommend. Delicious and one of the best ramens I've had in Queens. Will come back - with friends! read more
