If you are looking for some of the most flavorful lamb and beef broths in Flushing, look no further. Originally located nearby for many years, this shop recently moved into the New York Food Court a few weeks ago. They specialize in cuisine from Henan, China. What the region is known for is their lamb soup and lamb noodles. Well, no doubt they are one of the best there is in all of NYC imho. Few weeks ago, I stopped in for their delicious Lamb Soup w/ Vermicelli & Lamb Innards 羊杂粉丝汤 and it was excellent as usual. Instead of getting the equally yummy Lamb Noodle 羊肉烩面, I ordered the Old Luoyang Beef Soup 老洛阳牛肉汤 instead. This milky broth came with stripes of pancake for dipping. Well, if you like beef soup instead of lamb, then this is for you. I have not tried everything on their menu simply because I can't get past their soup products. I had the noodle in a rainy day. It is a good comfort food to warm up the cold from the out door rain. The restaurant gave a lot of meat and the soup is warm and hearty. The noodle soup can be spicy and I order mild which was just right. The restaurant is not busy and allow people to sit for hours. A bit tough to choose from the menu due to limited lunch options and a bit pricey to order individual dishes. Shy server, should interact with the customer more. I saw the new special noodle soup written on the board for $8, Yay! It was within my lunch budget and I had to try it. Perfectly cooked al dente noodles and tender marinated ribs. I can't ask for more. I hope they can provide more lunch options, and I will return to try their cold noodles in the summer. read more

TL;DR: Amazing local & authentic restaurant. You can't go wrong with any dish! I've lived in Flushing for close to 8 years now and this is literally my favorite restaurant here. Pre-pandemic, I visited at least 1x/week and most recently, 3x/week. This place is so underrated, unassuming and almost hidden and deserves a lot more reviews than it receives, but most of that is probably due to their audience. I, myself, am guilty of waiting this long before reviewing, but as someone who doesn't normally write many reviews, I had to give this place the love that it deserves, even more so because of the hard-working and kind people that work there. With the neighborhood changing from mom-and-pop to high-end restaurants year after year, it's nice to find a restaurant that still focuses their attention on the food without charging ridiculous pricing, especially during these times of inflation and rising food costs. It may not be the fanciest looking restaurant or one where you would host a celebration, but of all the times I've invited my family or friends here, they have always always ALWAYS come back themselves. It is by no means a hole-in-the-wall type of restaurant either. When you do visit, "Spicy Oil Split Noodle" is hands down the most delicious noodle dish I've ever had and I love noodles; can't go wrong with a dish that has a bunch of garlic! Even after all these years here, I'm still finding new dishes that never fail to amaze me. Came here because I'm been trying to taste some lamb noodle soups that aren't from Lamb Noodle Soup at Golden Mall. The result? Just stick with Lamb Noodle Soup at Golden Mall. The lamb broth was definitely not as deep, rich, or complex as Lamb Noodle Soup. It was passable, but only had a very mild lamb flavor and seemed a bit watery. I added some hot oil, which helped, but the hot oil container was really greasy on the outside and the top was full of crusty, caked-on chili. Now, I'm not one to shy away from a hole in the wall, but usually the turnover is enough that this does not happen. I feel like those hot oil containers have never been cleaned, just refilled over and over, so I only used a minimal amount before realizing it was a bit more unsanitary than I'd like. Yes, I eat all over Flushing and in the illegal hawker stalls in Taiwan, but this hot oil container defeated me. The lamb itself was really dry, tough, and lacked flavor. I ended up leaving most of the lamb behind. I love handmade noodles, but Miss Li ended up being the one time I disliked the noodles in my soup. They were fresh biang biang noodles, but they were a bit overcooked so were a bit soft for my taste. The major problem, though, was that some of the noodles were super super salty. As if when they made the noodle dough, they did not mix the salt in evenly so it all ended up on a bit of my noodles. Or they salted the noodles while cooking and the salt all landed on a single exposed noodle. In any case, although I finished them, they were far from tasty. Overall, just a pretty bad experience. Came here because my friend was craving Henan food. I not very familiar with the cuisine, so my friend took the lead ordering some specialities from the region. Ended up discovering some new favorite dishes. 烩面 (handpull noodle lamb soup) - Apparently 烩面 (translating to "braised noodles") is a speciality of Henan, though you wouldn't get that from the bland English translation of lamb noodle soup. The version here seemed fine but not standout. 豆角肉卤面 (steam noodles w. string bean & pork) - The noodles come served in a steamer with green beans and meat mixed in. It's pretty tasty and apparently another signature dish of Henan. I hadn't seen this dish before I tried it here, so would recommend trying it! 擀面皮 (handmade cold noodle) - My favorite dish of the night. It reminds me a lot of LiangPi, sliced more thinly, tossed with lots of cucumbers and bean sprouts. I honestly don't know what's the difference between this and liang pi, but both are delicious. 臭豆腐 (fried stinky tofu) - In my opinion, the rendition wasn't anything special, just stinky tofu in a sauce. 涮牛肚 (tripe) - Skewers of beef tripe that have been cooked by briefly scalding in hot water. I came here to try the tomato and egg noodle dish, which I have been craving for some time now. I tried the one from Henan Feng Wei the other day, which was life-changing and wondered how this restaurant's version of it fared. Well, it wasn't a bad bowl of noodles. Also hand pulled noodles, and well-seasoned tomato and egg stir-fry on top. The noodles didn't taste as fresh, and didn't have the depth and lamb-y flavor I loved from the other restaurant. They were also out of the beef rolled in pancake, so I was a bit disappointed about that as well. read more

During lunch time I went into a Hunan cuisine restaurant. I ordered a lunch special "YuxiangRouSi". It is basically sliced pork, diced carrot, pepper, mushroom with garlic sauce on rice. Garlic sauce was medium spiciness. It was delicious. Service here was average, only a cashier that takes care of 8 table service. For $8 dollar lunch special, price was good. Today was a cold and snowy day, so my coworker and I decided to order delivery for our lunch break. I ordered the lamb noodle soup out of pure chance, however, I was pleasantly surprised! It was one of the best noodle soup dishes I've ever had..... I'm someone who loves lamb meat generally, so I might be a bit biased. Nonetheless, the flavors were incredibly savory, yet refreshing at the same time. The lamb meat was super moist and melted right in my mouth. I wasn't really that hungry, but I cleared my whole dish-soup included! My coworker ordered egg & tomato over rice. You can't go wrong with this classic Chinese dish. It was seasoned on the sweeter side, which is just how I liked it. (I know because I stole some of his food haha) I'm very happy that I gave this place a chance. I needed food, fast, from some place open late, or 24 hours. I was getting a bad cold, and I wanted noodles and soup. I had no money though. I counted out 10$ in quarters. They were super happy to get the quarters actually. Win win. The place smelled delicious, and there were 2 tables with couples eating. It was 3:30am on a Saturday, in a very desolate area of Flushing. I am mostly vegetarian, but feeling sick, I might go rogue and get something with meat. I decided against it. I got special noodles with egg. Not a soup, but I was willing to try it. Its the most unusual Chinese noodle dish I've ever had. Imagine at least 3 to 4 scrambled eggs, with fresh pieces of tomatoes, woked up with yummy noodles, in light but delicious sauce. Absolutely hit the spot. Can I count on this? Can I count on my first meal in Queens on any given trip making it onto my lifetime top ten list? Because I've eaten in Queens on two trips as an adult and it's happened both times. Last time it was Hug Esan in Elmhurst. This time it's Miss Li Henan in Flushing. I had two dishes: Luoyang Beef Soup with Bing Si 饼丝, ordered medium spicy, and a tomato/egg dish. It's the beef soup that found a place on my top 10. Beefy, agreeably spicy broth, was so flavorful it brought tears to my eyes. Lifetime top ten good. The bing si turned out to be sort of like putting thin dried pie crust in my soup. It's served beside the soup. I didn't know what to do with it so I asked the waitperson. She asked me if she could go ahead. Go ahead and what, I wondered, but I was hungry so I said yes. She dumped all of the bing si into the broth. It worked pretty well, although if I were to have it again. And. I. Would. If I were to have it again, I would dump about half of it in the soup to start and the rest about halfway through the bowl. It was still stellar the way I had it, a new texture for me, and I loved it. A review on Miss Li's apparent other location, in the Golden Shopping Mall, says Luoyang folks are super-serious about their soup. I believe it. Solid high 5 stars. Seriously a destination dish. And this is a much nicer space than the Golden Shopping Mall. The tomato/egg dish was pretty darn good, four stars, simple good flavor, maybe a bit sweet like the other review says. But not crazy sweet. Between the two, way too much food, but it was good to be able to try them. I finished off the soup and took the leftover tomato/egg to go.
