This has popped up on my Instagram and my FYP on TikTok multiple times and so my friends and I definitely had to try this place. What a great immersive gameplay experience! There's 4 "games" that last ten minutes each and then the final "beat the bomb" final level. Each of the games have varying levels and you gain time in each of the games that go towards the time you have for the final Beat the Bomb level. We went with a group of 3 (it says 4 or more people recommended) but we were fine with just us though more people is definitely useful for certain games. If you "beat the bomb" you have the choice to still be blasted with paint. My team beat the bomb but we chose to get blasted anyway. They take photos of you as well as a 10 second video, all which come to your phone via text/email for free which if it's free, it's definitely for me! We scheduled a time to play at 2:45 and actually got in when our buzzer went off at around 3:15. They have food and a bar there to pass the time. They also have live feeds of other teams playing the game and you can watch the paint detonate onto them which is a cool touch. This was definitely a fun experience. I also love doing escape rooms and this was even more immersive than that so I would definitely return. After we played, we got a 25% off our next time playing which is great because the price came out to be about $53pp so any discounts would increase the chance I'd go again. Only con is they make you wear the hazmat suits to play the games and it can get quite stuffy but you are allowed to take photos as you go through each level! read more

This was a great way to celebrate a friend's birthday. We really didn't know what to expect. We checked in at our appointed time and were outfitted with white jumpsuits and googles. We started with the puzzle rooms. This was hilarious and quite challenging. After going through all of the rooms we made it to the bomb room. Well to beat the bomb we all had to work together to manipulate a device and possibly beat the bomb. Needless to say, we didn't beat it! A fun time was had by all. We also played some games in a lounge area and had a few drinks afterwards. We were able to find close paid street parking. There's also a parking garage not far from here. Communication is key, team building is inevitable, and of course, there is pressure. You will end with lots of laughs and some tense moments for sure. This place is amazing for group fun! My cousins and I took our moms here for Mother's Day and had a blast. They separate us into two teams and let us battle it out. We chose second package which was the mission I believe. Our groups played 4 games each and then at the end, had a chance to beat the bomb. Anddd.. we failed lol! The facility is located in a building with a parking garage, so parking was easy to find. And it is a short walk from the garage to the store front. Make sure you get there a little early to sign the waiver, although my entire party did it online only 2 of them showed up in their system. After signing in, you are put in a waiting area so you have time to buy drinks and snacks if you want. The assortment of mini games were fun, both mentally and physically challenging. It also helps if you bring competitive friends to go as quick as you can to earn more points! On top of that, you need to have some decent communication skills with your teammates to get higher scores. BE PREPARED TO SWEAT. You wear a jumpsuit over your clothes that retains all of your heat. You can bring your phone in to take photos while you play the mini games but I was sweating so much my photos, almost all came out blurry. I just looked at the picture, read the title of the event, and saw the word immersive game then thought "how fun!". When I got to the venue, I was intrigued, as it wasn't what I expected. But I still had a great time! Things to notate: Upon entry, they check your ID. There are a bunch of free lockers available for you to securely keep your belongings while you enjoy the rooms. The employees were super friendly and great with every interaction. Lastly, there is plenty of parking via a parking garage (about $11 for the entire time we were there) or street parking. Beat the Bomb is yet another activity I've had my eyes on for months, but never followed through with the thought of going until a friend added this to her birthday weekend plans. The objective was relatively simple; your team goes through a series of mini-games on your way to the final stage against the Bomb. With a higher score in each mini-game comes more time allotted to your team to Beat the Bomb at the end. If you don't Beat the Bomb in the allotted time, your team gets blasted with paint or foam (depending on which route you choose at the beginning). You can still opt into the paint or foam if you win, which is great for picture and video content. The experience was exhilarating all the way through. We got the VIP package, which came with a sticker, pin, T-shirt and free drink token. The Game Bays are a great warmup for the actual mini-games in your quest to beat the bomb. And staff was hella helpful. We had an issue with one of our videos not fully showing, but they had a backup to ensure we got our content. Additionally, leaving them a review on Google will get you a free shot. They do everything they can to turn people into returning customers, and I'll for sure be back. read more

Beat the bomb was such a great experience we came for a team bonding with my church group and it was a blast. We had about 7 people and broke off into 2 teams. We went into it at first saying let's not be competitive and just have fun, but as we got the hang of it we definitely got competitive, respectfully. The only one that was confusing was the different shapes with the question marks. We were told to wear the bracelets around our hand so it's easier to hit the button with our palm, which helped a lot. At the end we did not beat the bomb we got up to number 6 out of 10 and well you know the rest! We beat our other team so that was a good competition enough for us! Overall it was such a fun experience and I would absolutely go again! We also gathered to eat there and the food wasn't so bad either. I was here for a friend's birthday and had myself a grand old time playing the interactive games with the crew!!! I didn't get to put on the fancy suit with all the paint, but the games were still epic. We had to grab and deliver fruits, do musical chairs of sorts, and more! There were some technical bugs, but they were still fairly new at the time, so I'm sure it will all get worked out. I had a couple of good drinks from the bar, such as a Blue Hawaii & Margarita. Came here for my birthday and it was SUCH an experience. I originally thought this would be like an escape room but it felt like a real life video game simulation. I don't want to spoil too much but the format is you're put into 4 rooms, each for 10 minutes and you have to do different tasks (the only one I'll spoil is going through lasers) which accumulate time for a final challenge where you and your team will have to "beat the bomb". You can still get splattered by paint if you end up diffusing it. FYI, you can have max of 6 per room (trust you don't want more). It is a bit expensive but it's worth it for a party or fun night!. Also be ON TIME/EARLY. From what it seems, they are really strict about timing. read more

Very sad to be reading this negative review, as my friends and I were really looking forward to this experience. TLDR: racist front staff and bartenders, literally do not serve you and straight up ignored us We were barely even greeted or given any instructions upon walking in, the people at the front desk were only catering to others and having small talk conversations, completely ignoring us while we stood there for 10 min waiting. It's a good thing we were early. We were informed we could upgrade our mission experience to a VIP package to include the game bay (+ drinks + shirts) so we did. We were also ignored at the bar and couldn't order for another 15 min as the lone bartender tended to every other party but us. Note: we were the only Asian customers in the entire place. We also ordered food to be brought over to our game bay while we played, but by the our time in the game bay (30min) was up, there was still no food. We saw the bartender running food to multiple other parties but not ours, despite the fact we let them know we would be waiting in our game bay. We tried to approach the bartender to ask about this, but when we approached her, she looked at us, did not respond, and walked away. Twice. ???? We had to have another new bartender, that we didn't previously see, help us. We had to ask him to cancel one of our orders since we wouldn't have time to get it before our mission. After the mission, we left, but only after realizing we also didn't receive our shirts. They don't have a phone system that any human picks up so that's an L we are eating instead of the food that was never brought to us. The mission itself was fun, some of the sensors don't work that great, and all the other staff that were at the mission area were very friendly and sweet. I don't understand how there's such a stark contrast in attitude between the employees at the front/bar and the employees in the back working the missions. Ruined experience after spending over $400 and not sure I want to be back after being treated so disrespectfully. read more

I love Beat the Bomb! Booked for 50+ folks and the process was so smooth. Sandy and Alijah assisted with the booking and they were very helpful and always quickly responded to anything that was needed. We arrived and were greeted by a friendly staff that got us all situated. There are lockers where you can put your things away and set your own code. I was impressed by the space. They have a variety of tables and couches to sit and chill while you wait for your teams turn. You can also clearly see the room where teams go for the last challenge of beating the bomb and that is super entertaining to watch. You are required to sign a waiver and choose a team name. Upon check-in, each member of your team is given a wristband that is needed during gameplay. I love how each room has a different challenge. This is a great team builder activity that requires movement. You will sweat! All the students loved it! We recently visited Beat the Bomb D.C. to celebrate my brother's 13th birthday, and while the experience ended on a high note, it definitely didn't start that way. First, the mobile booking site is misleading--it doesn't specify that the D.C. location arcade battle does not include the foam experience that's often advertised as a major highlight. This created a lot of confusion and disappointment for our group, especially since the foam was a big part of why we chose this experience in the first place. On top of that, the staff on site seemed unprepared to handle customer concerns. None of the employees were empowered to issue refunds or even make meaningful adjustments, and there was a noticeable lack of managerial presence to help navigate the situation. It felt like we were hitting a wall with every attempt to get a resolution. That said, one employee absolutely stood out--Shawn. Unlike the others, Shawn stepped up when it mattered most. He listened, understood our frustration, and took the initiative to modify our reservation so that my brother and his friends could still have an amazing experience. Thanks to Shawn, what started as a disappointing mix-up turned into a birthday to remember. If you're booking the D.C. location, just be aware of the foam exclusion and double-check the details--but if you run into any issues, hopefully, you'll have someone like Shawn on your side. Dwnld the app, use blue tooth/phone to get through the lift gate, get your phone validated at the counter in the Bomb place, and when you leave, wave the phone/app near the zip reader and the gate arm will go up Do NOT park on the MoMs grocery parking level. It's only one more level up to park, so be courteous. None of our clothes got sprayed. You get booties to cover your shoes before the blast. You can carry your phone in each room and take pics, but you will be doing a lot of stuff and might forget. Your phone and valuables can go into a Fanny pack, and not get blasted by color The jumpsuit: you will get hot and sweat in it! Wear it around your waist, until you have to crawl on the floor I kept it on the whole time and my clothes were soaked wet for nearly 30min after finishing! My experience here left me with the thought that I will not be coming back. Some of the games were okay and some of them were a little boring.....definitely not worth the price point. But the reason for my low rating is due to the fact I left this place with a SWOLLEN LIP!! The pressure from the paint that comes out at the end when you don't "beat the bomb" is unnecessarily rough!! The pressure was so hard that it smacked my face shield onto my bottom lip which caused my lip to bleed and swell. They took an "incident report" (if that's what you want to call it) and sent me on my merry way. There was no sort of trying to "make things right" or no sort of compensation offered at all. Loved the experience, great game night/hangout/team building addition to DC. Located right in the Ivy City area by Target and Gravitas, BTB has just opened! They have two main missions set up (mission 2 is harder and available on request.) you can join with a team of up to 6 - if you have more people, you split into 2 teams because of game play set up and space constraints. The staff is fabulous and I wish I had taken down more names. Tierra (my spelling may be off) at check-in was super helpful with lockers, checking us in, waiver forms, and game bracelets, and just made it a fun easy-going experience. We went for the Super VIP package which included the mission, a premium drink, a very cool T-shirt, and 30 minutes of game bay play. Think private gaming lounge area where you and your friends can play their games coop or versus style. The food menu is good if you're in the mood for hot dogs, chicken tenders, nachos and dip, and pizza. There were salads on the menu. They also have toast order systems at the tables (there were many tables available for hanging or to watch groups get repeatedly blasted by paint. Dean made sure to check on us regularly and even got us into our game time early since there was a gap. We ran into some problems with a laser game room and required assistance in resetting the system twice, but the staff were super quick to assist and friendly. We had a blast although they do warn you it can get a little physical - think running around, maybe some laser dodging and floor crawling. The rooms can get a little warm and you should hydrate hydrate hydrate. We did beat the bomb and got a cool sticker and beat the bomb pin as well as our winner video displayed. Pretty neat. They're also very quick about emailing photos and video of your blast to you. Winners also get a coupon for next time play. Great service made up for any baby grand opening hiccups in game mechanics or parking, I would definitely recommend you try out this new game spot. Book online or walk in! read more

This new place for fun and games in Ivy City may be a bit harder to get to, but it's totally worth it! The immersive gaming experience was perfect for a weekend afternoon with family and friends. We had reserved a spot for the mission experience (which is the best part), but since they were running late, they also let us try out the arcade booths for free! The gist of it is that they give you wristbands which you use to turn on wall sensors, and those in combination with wall-mounted touch screens provide the basis for most of the games. For the mission experience we had to suit up, go through 4 different game rooms to get time on our clock for the bomb room, where you play one final game with your team to see if you can "beat the bomb." Regardless of whether or not you beat the bomb, you can opt to get paint bombed, which makes for a unique experience and some pretty cool pics! Plus, if you beat the bomb like my team did, you get free stickers and pins. Also, I really appreciated that they send you photos and videos for free - the photos were pretty poor quality, but the videos were hi def and super fun. The only recommendation I would make is to not make participants suit up until the last room - it gets pretty darn hot in there given that many of the rooms have a physical component to the tasks. Also, I should mention that the food and drinks were also pretty good! Kinda pricey for what you get, but I expected no less in this sort of entertainment venue. Overall, they were a bit disorganized and the reservation was pricey, but the staff was super nice, the games were fun and unique, and it was one of the most memorable parts of my weekend with fam and friends! read more

I celebrated a friends birthday at Beat the Bomb - what a blast we all had! Pun intended.... We made reservations for a 1 hour time block within the gaming bay for a group of 8 people. The check in process was pretty straightforward and within 5-10 minutes, our group was all set up to begin playing games. The game attendant did give us a very brief run through of how to navigate the games, but a little more info would've helped since it took us a game or two to fully understand how to operate their consoles. Once we got the hang of what to do for the immersive games, we all had a really great time! There were all sorts of team and solo player games, so this is great and affordable activity for a group of any size. (Though the minimum to reserve a bay is 4 people.) For $15 an hour per person, this was really worth it. The facility also has a fully stocked bar with drink offerings ranging from $9-$14 and some basic food options in case players get hungry. Our group ordered alot of the bottled beers and spiked slushies which were very tasty. Only two people ordered food and reported that it wasn't that great, but was enough to hold them over. We did have a couple of complications with the gaming console - on occasion some of the censors stopped working which made the games impossible to play. Tech staff was sent over very quickly to repair and replace the censors but we still lost time of our hour reservation while those issues were being dealt with. Overall, this was a great experience that I would come back again to enjoy. This is a great place for a fun night out with friends! Games were fun challenges to keep every active, moving, and working together for team bonding! If I had one personal critique for the overall experience, I would cut the time by 2 minutes for each challenge and have an additional game, some of the challenges felt a little too long for the challenge. Pro tip: you don't need the Hazmat suits until the very end, so I suggest leaving it off until the last challenge because they get REALLY hot!
