I had one of the best dinners of my life! I had the Chicken Bebe which comes with asparagus and it could not have been more outstanding. For dessert, the caramel pie was outstanding and one of the best desserts I have ever had. It was a perfect smooth consistency with a delicious shortbread crust. Our waitress was excellent. My son is at Lurie's so I am always looking for new options around the area. My husband and I sat at the bar to have a quick dinner.... the service was excellent. We ordered the short rib with mashed potatoes substituting the cauliflower purée and it was delicious. I ordered the hummus and it had tons of flavor. Also, we had the tuna crudo. It was amazing. I had a business meeting today at Beatrix and they offered a restaurant week package. The food was so very good. The hummus was fantastic and a nice portion,the chicken sandwich with chips was very tasty. The chips were home made and thin that it melted in your mouth. Topped off the day with a caramel pie. Went for brunch on a Saturday. Wavy vibes, friendly service, and great food options. The menu isn't too extensive and I could have done without the ricotta raspberry toast, but the two brunch entrees were on point. I highly recommend the chicken rings and the pot roast sandwich. Excellent. Had a superb brunch on Sunday and then returned for breakfast a day later. Not inexpensive but very healthy and tasty. Service was also excellent. We happened to stay across the street so for us very convenient but I HIGHLY recommend you go even if it is a little bit of a hike. Poached eggs on quinoa was superb but the best are the waffles. 4 small waffles easy to share. Chicken sausage was great also. Lemon pancakes were also good. I am not a huge lemon fan but these were subtle enough to be tasty without overpowering. Ambience also nice and easygoing and comfortable. Hands down my new favorite brunch spot. Weather you are with a party of six, or just a small party of two..this place is perfect. The atmosphere is cozy and trendy and their menu is surprisingly not expensive at all! Most entrees for brunch were under $12! My Friend and I started with the bloody Mary's that must have been made by God because they were perfection. Following the bloodys, we shared a angel food lemon cake muffin. It was the same experience as eating a flavorful cloud. So amazing and fluffy. For our entree, we each got the egg white ciabatta sandwich with shishito peppers. It was both flavorful, light and filling all at the same time. The green salsa that comes with it has an incredible punch of flavor that I was almost drinking after I had no more sandwich to dip in it. Finally, the bakery stand. It's impossible to not want to try everything insight. I got the raspberry jam filled macaroon that was unbelievable and my friend got the chocolate cookie that was just ok. Overall (minus the cookie) everything was extremely delicious and reasonable price! I expected it to be so over priced and it was not at all. Will easily be back once a week! read more

Today however, our waiter assumed the cash $30 was his tip on a $90 bill rather than being applied to the bill. Thus leaving one of the four people to pay an extra $30. Ended up here because it was on the way back to our hotel. Alexa was our waitress & was fantastic and informative. My husband had the short ribs which paired great with the caramelized chocolate churro porter. It was served with mashed cauliflower, he doesn't usually eat cauliflower but this was an exception. His portion looked smaller than anticipated but was still sufficient and nobody left hungry. I opted for the braised mushroom dish. Before ordering I was concerned it may not be filling enough but in the end I had a hard time finishing it. We both ordered a specialty juice that were also great. read more

I was a huge fan of Beatrix for many years, often eating here three times a week. About 4 months ago I stopped in for a late lunch and ordered my favorite meal, supernatural salad with a side of grilled salmon. I had taken about three bites and scooped up another forkful. About halfway to my mouth, I looked down at my fork and thought, "I don't remember this salad having brown seeds in it." Then what I had assumed was a seed proceeded to crawl toward the end of my fork. I dropped the fork and when the server came over I told him there was a bug in my salad. He saw it crawling on the table and swept everything off of the table. He was very apologetic. The person I assume was the manager then came out to apologize, saying fresh produce is delivered every day. They then made a cheeseburger for me and did not charge me for any of the food. None of this was the server's fault, so I insisted on tipping him. I'm not an entomologist but I have lived in student housing and I know what a roach looks like. Even if the fresh produce is delivered every day, it is the restaurant's responsibility to wash it again before serving it. Maybe the bug didn't come with the produce, maybe they have an infestation in their kitchen. I loved Beatrix, but not sure if I can bring myself to go back. read more

This is a great lunch destination featuring a healthy take on comfort food. At least that's what the waitress said. In reality it was high on salad options for comfort food but still a great menu with fresh seasonal ingredients you can feel good about eating. And the flavor were excellent too. I enjoyed the deviled eggs, although the portion was small (1.5 eggs peeler order), and the mushroom quinoa burger. It was really well cooked with lots of flavor and a nice side of fries. This Beatrix is located inside the Northwestern Hospital with a full coffee bar. They serve Intelligentsia, Metropolis, Bullet and all sorts of new generation coffees. They also have a full restaurant with a gluten free menu. Their chicken tinga is delicious. I also like their quinoa cakes with poached eggs. Do try the kennebec fries - we there with friends and everyone loved them. It is not my best best place for brunch - but being so close to home definitely helps. read more

Went to dinner there with a friend and I must say I was very impressed. I had been to the Fulton location and this one lived up to my high expectations. The most striking part of my visit was how truly knowledgeable the waitress was. Maybe it was just a great waitress but she knew the beer menu in great detail and was able to answer questions that most waitstaff cannot. We shared the Kennebec fries and Kung Pao brussel sprouts. The sprouts were amazing with a great balance of sweet and spicy. The fries were a little disappointing because they didn't have the crispy lemon like their other location. Still quite good. I had the squash ravioli which was not what I expected at all but was so good. Instead of being small stuffed, thin pasta it was a little thicker with a fun texture. The texture allowed the sauce to stick better. I had a taste of the Mushroom Farroto which is basically a risotto with Farro. It was delicious. I would certainly go back. read more

Great food, great service, great atmosphere. What more could you ask for? Instead of waiting hours at the River North location take a 15 min walk (or just go here first) and get seated much faster. The menu is exactly the same. I honestly couldn't decide what to get but ultimately went with my craving for sweet and ordered the fluffy lemon pancakes with a side of brown sugar bacon. These aren't your typical pancakes either, they really are much fluffier and have a softer texture than regular pancakes, they sort of melt in your mouth. The lemon syrup goes perfectly. The bacon was flavorful without being too sweet as well. I also had one of their drinks from the coffee bar, it was a special forgot what it was called but something with matcha, I'm a sucker for matcha, and it was soooo good I almost drank the whole thing too fast!! It did come out a little on the cooler side for a hot drink but being someone who can't handle piping hot beverages it was perfect for me. I'll definitely be back. read more

Our favorite breakfast place in the city. Food is always fresh and delicious. I love love the quinoa cakes, shakshouka and the quinoa burger. Can't leave without the angel food muffin and other delicious pastries. What stands out about this place is the stellar customer service and the welcoming atmosphere towards families and children. It feels upscale but in an approachable way. We are regulars here and it was high time I write a review. My partner and I came here for breakfast and ordered oatmeal, a single lemon pancake, the spicy chicken tinga, and a side of bacon alongside a banana Joe and pineapple/pear/ginger juice to drink. The very banana-y Joe was a really unique pick-me-up, and while the oatmeal was a bit watery the chicken as well as the lemon pancake were phenomenal. Love. Great food and service. My daughter and I popped in spontaneously for dinner around 6:45 on a Saturday night. Only a few tables were seated though many tables had reserved signs. Our server, Aireal, guided us through the menu and led us to a refreshing juice, a tasty starter, two fantastic entrees, and a delightfully shareable dessert. I'd recommend everything we had: cucumber mint juice, potato salad deviled eggs, Cuban chicken, braised pork shank, and apple strudel with a scoop of ice cream. You really can't go wrong there. The juice felt like a cleansing ritual, a fresh way to transition from a day of shopping to our delicious meal. The pork is rustic while the chicken is bright. The Austrian part of me was very pleased with the Beatrix rendition of strudel. I wish we were staying in Chicago longer so we can sample breakfast and lunch as well. We will be back. read more

Tucked away is this really well decorated, well trafficked restaurant that I can easily see revisiting again. Met my wife there for a quick bite and I was surprised that the sit down restaurant was attached to this awesome salad bar. The coffee house was awesome and although I didn't get a chance to eat my entire meal (can't wait to open at home) the tomato soup, lime French fries and deviled eggs with capers (wife's meal) were great together and full of surprises.
