YESSSS. What a faulous Sunday at the spa! My friend and I went in for a day of beauty - facials and mani/pedis. She had a Groupon for the facial, but my procrastinatin' self never got around to buying it that day, so I was full price all the way. All I have to say is, ask for Marie if you want the best pedicure of your life. And Karen for a kick-ass facial. Sam at the desk took great care of us, too. The three of these ladies made sure we had a fabulous day. We never felt rushed, even though they were coordinating 3 appointments for each of us amidst all their other guests. Doesn't sound like such a big deal, but this place is super small - I was skeptical when we first walked in, because it didn't look like any spa I've ever been to, more like somebody's well-decorated apartment. But this is what they have to work with in one of the beautiful old Newbury St buildings, and they work with it well. As mentioned, the treatments and staff were both just truly amazing. This is coming from a total spa whore (check my reviews, I think that half of them are for spas or salons)... I was blown away. The pedicure was a totally relaxing, unrushed experience. Marie shows incredible attention to detail, and my feet looked and felt SO great afterwards. I'm sure some would complain about the seats, and to be honest I wasn't psyched that they were lacking the cushy massage chairs I'm used to (more of a padded bench-type seat). But Marie was good enough to counteract that disappointment, and I also really liked the products she used. The end product made me forget I was ever less than psyched about the seating. The facial was one of the best I've had. Karen really knows her stuff, and was not pushy on trying to sell me products... although I have to say I was tempted (she used the Dermalogica line on me, and I really liked it - plus I checked online later and the antioxidant mist that she used in place of toner gets great reviews). The cherry on top of this Sunday... the entire staff here was refreshingly un-snooty for a Newbury St. spa. Each person we met was just lovely - friendly and open, while maintaining a totally professional environment and taking care of everything we needed. I love this place, and will be back... major words coming from a girl with serious spa commitment issues. You should go, too. read more

I went in for a Coppola keratin treatment for the first time with a GILT City deal at this salon -- I have used keratin treatments for almost 4 years with perfect results but not this time. They pretty much look at you like you aren't worth the full service and results since you bought a discounted deal. My hairdresser used the bare minimum of keratin on my hair and I could tell that the keratin wouldn't do a dent. I sucked it up and thought maybe she would add more but she did not. My hair came out barely normal and she did a horrible job blowdrying it in the first place. I realize that I should tip on the full cost of the treatment which is $420 and TOTALLY NOT WORTH IT and as I was making my check, the receptionist made a point that the original cost was more than the discounted cost I paid -- SO TACKY. They have more GILT coupons out and it's a total ripoff and it's an inconvenience to get to in the first place. You're better off going anywhere else. read more

If you want perfect nails, SEE MARIE!!! Beaucage is a nice salon with great ambiance. perfect for relaxing and unwinding. I've been to just about every salon on Newbury and across the country from upscale spas to the little hole in the walls and Marie is by far the BEST manicurist I've ever met. She's meticulous, friendly, gentle and paints a PERFECT FRENCH!!!! I thought I was a perfectionist until I had my nails done here... They are a little on the pricey side but you definitely get what you pay for. I'm from Orange County and I always make sure to stop by and see Marie every chance I get when I'm in town. I'd fly out to Boston every other week just to have her do my nails if I could.... If you're someone who appreciates a good manicure/pedicure and haven't quite found anyone who can get it just the way you like it, GO TO BEAUCAGE AND SEE MARIE!!! you will NOT be disappointed. read more

I've had my hair cut at Beaucage ever since my last stylist (at Jerel Roberts) took off for Brooklyn six years ago. My particular stylist is terrific. I have short, wavy hair, and definite ideas about how I want it cut, and she listens. Prices at Beaucage are steep, but are in line with (or even a little less than) the rates at other salons on Newbury St. The majority of the clientele seem to be blonde suburban ladies coming in for the day to get their hair done and go shopping; ergo, it's not really a "hip" salon (which to me is a plus, not a minus). I find that the level of service is high, and I love that nobody gives me attitude. It's very professionally run, and the owner is a great guy and treats his stylists well. One note: If you hate crowded salons, don't make your appointment for a Saturday - the place is a madhouse (a -genteel- madhouse). read more

I recommend KATHERINE for Brazilian waxing at Beaucage! I heard good reviews about her a couple years ago, and when I went to see her for the first time, she was everything they said she was! Now, I make an appointment with her every couple of months. My Brazilian is always quick and painless. She is also very friendly and never forgets a face, and we have fun talking about arbitrary things from the photograph on the ceiling to all the various shows currently in the Theatre District. I absolutely love her! The price for a Brazilian at Beaucage is around $70; even though it might seem steep, it is actually pretty good for the Boston area. Brazilian Wax doesn't have to be painful!!! I have had Brazilian wax done for the last 16 or 17 years, and just recently I found Catherine at Beaucage -- WHAT A RELIEF!!! She does it the quickest, painless way I have ever experienced, and I have had it done a gazillian times!! I've had a bit of a traumatizing experience finding a hairdresser I trust in Boston, but 5 stars for Henry... he listens, he asks the right questions, he's a genuinely nice guy, and he gives me a great haircut. A little less stars for the place overall... its always overbooked and slightly pricey, and I'm pretty sure the receptionists would rather be elsewhere. Just got a pedicure. It was okay and the lady was nice but it was nothing special. No real massage incorporated, which is usually my favorite part, and she cut my toenails pretty short and a little crooked. I used a spaFinder gift card but the whole thing was $55 +tip. I would never pay out of pocket for that especially when it didn't come with any added service from my typical place that costs $35. My appointment was at 7pm and it only took 35 mins to do the whole thing and then the lady went home before my toes were dry... Little strange. All in all I wouldn't recommend going here for a pedicure but the place was nice for a salon. read more

I love Groupon. Without it, I would not have been able to afford the usual $100 signature facial that the offer. That's the bottom of the barrel. Apparently they get better from there... and of course more expensive. Because we are not in a recession. At least I'm not. I find like $100 bills in my pocketz all the time. LOL? Okay so I got Monica for my facial and was excited to see that she was voted Boston's Best of.. (it doesn't say best of what, I'm assuming facials/waxing) I like to know I get the best. Immediately she told me my face is doing some funky stuff. I was embarrassed. She knew I hadn't been for a facial in a while. It hurt. Of course it hurt, it always hurts, but that's what you get for having clogged skin. But of the facials I've had, this has been the least painful. They use good products. She's funny and knowledgeable and is kind of like that one family member who will tell you you got fat when you did indeed put on a few burritos worth of weight over the past couple of weeks. Woman tells it like it is. My face no feels like a baby's ass. And she sold me products that were surprisingly affordable. Apparently dermalogica has a young adult line that doesn't break the bank. I walked out with a cleanser and moisturizer for a little over $40. Me like. I want to come back, I really do. Because I know she'll be disappointed if I don't. But she also wanted me to get a peel on top of a facial. That's a whopping $175 together. And told me we could do a brazilian right before I get down to business. She heard I was a student but I don't think she cared. Maybe she has selective hearing. Elevator is small but I wasn't creeped out by that unlike some other Yelpers? And it is kind of an awkward waiting area but there is in fact a waiting area... couch. With magazines and everything. So quit your boo-hooing harsh critics. Would come back, I trust this lady with my baby's-ass-face. We'll see if baby can cry to mama and dada for some mun-munz. Ahem, money. read more

4.5 stars.. The best place to get my first ever brazilian. The fact that they use hard wax makes all the difference really and really reduces the pain. It is not as bad as everyone thinks. My waxer (I forget her name now but she's probably the frequently mentioned name on reviews) was so awesome and made everything very easy and comfortable. She wasn't awkward at all and was very nice about it being my first wax. We had a great conversation about how she got into doing this and Valentine's plans. It was over in an instant. No weird legs up or any contortions like other waxers do. If I still lived in Boston I would have made it my waxing place but sadly I moved. If I'm ever back and in need of a wax I would absolutely come here. I only deducted a half star for the fact that the waxer didn't clean up things and there was still wax all over the place which isn't so fun to try to remove at home. read more

The reception staff were lovely and inviting, the waxing room was clean and well-kept, and Emma was unassuming and made me feel very comfortable. This is the worst salon experience I have ever had. I have been getting balayage for a few years now, but needed a new salon in Boston and thought I would try out this place. My appointment was with Amber and I was getting a haircut and balayage. As she was doing my hair, I was concerned that some of her techniques were so different than how my hair had been previously done. I didn't say anything and sat silently because she is the stylist and I assumed she would know better than me. As she was cutting my hair I noticed chunks that were way lighter than what I had asked for, and looked more like grown out at-home highlights than expensive balayage. When my hair was finally done, the chunks were even more visible. The were bleach blonde (I was looking for a honey blonde) and the chunks had flat lines where the highlight started (not blended as balayage should be). I said at that moment that I did want to come back in and have it redone. I was looking at my hair when I got home and realized it was way worse than I thought. It looked like botched highlights. I went in to get it redone, and it was absolutely awful experience. Amber was rude and defensive. Anyone that looked at my hair said how horrible of a balayage it was and all I wanted was for it to be fixed. She claimed it didn't look like that when I left, and was very grumpy about fixing it. Amber put a toner on my hair and then had another appointment. Once her new appointment came in she completely forgot about me. Her assistant had told her she thought the toner was on too long, but Amber didn't listen and thought she knew better. When my hair was washed and blown out, the color looked worse than before. It become a greenish ashy brown. It was absolutely awful. Amber did not seem to care at all that my hair looked horrible, gave me a color correction sample in a plastic to go cup, charged $75 for some treatment that didn't make a difference, and sent me on my way. Any girl that has ever had their hair done poorly knows how horrible it feels. Hair is the only accessory you wear every day and this hair was absolutely awful. I got my hair done before starting at a new job, and instead of feeling confident, I was insecure of my horrible botch job hair. I called Beaucage Salon on three separate times hoping to speak to a manager and never once heard back. It was so disappointing considering I spent about $500. I will NEVER go back to this salon. It was not just Amber, the management there is horrible and they do not care about their customers. read more

Went in yesterday for a Brazilian wax with Andrea, and couldn't have been more pleased with the service. At $80 before tip, it's admittedly a little pricier than I was originally looking to spend, but I feel it's definitely on par with prices for this area. The receptionist was friendly and accommodating, and my appointment started right on time. Andrea is absolutely fantastic and I would recommend her to anyone. Not only was she friendly, funny, and made me feel comfortable and relaxed (or as comfortable as one can feel when they have it all out on the table), but it was also the least painful wax I've received in Boston. read more

I love Kristen at Beaucage. I started going here after a few less than stellar performances by a stylist at Liquid and I could not be happier. I'm a slacker about going in every 6-8 weeks, but only because I'm a recovering poor student. As soon as I'm employed I vow to maintain my hair better. Anyway- Kristen has never steered me wrong (including convincing me not to cut my hair short a few months before my wedding, even though it was driving me nuts). She also has given me my fabulous red tresses twice now, and I love the color she gets. And, when I was preparing for wedding stuff she was more than willing to help with hair ideas. I was going to have to do my hair myself (a really bad idea), but she told me what I should do, and how I should do it, and it ended up beautiful! read more

I had 2 separate recent experiences at Beaucage both involving hair and coupons (livingsocial and gilt, I believe). Both cuts were good- not great, not amazing- but perfetly serviceable. And considering I paid on average 50% of the listing price, very well worth it. ============================================== KATHERINE, KATHERINE, KATHERINE!! I just got back from a Brazilian with Katherine and it was so painless. She is a cool chick too and totally made my first Brazilian an addictive experience. OK, it's a bit creepy to be so exuberant about hair removal but I was expecting the worst going in. Aside from the waxing, there is really nothing exciting about the spa. It is on the 4th floor and the entrance is next to the rest room, which must have be having plumping issues because it made the entire floor smell. The waxing room is also small and kind of dark and nothing special. Despite the blah environment I whole-heartedly recommend Katherine for all your waxing needs. read more

I received a nice gift certificate for Beaucage and used it for two 1-hour massages here. I really enjoyed this place! I love how they give you little slippers and a cute robe to hang out in until your massage. Furthermore, if you are a new customer, they give you a little reusable tote with a few samples in it. Cute! I enjoyed the high quality of the massage rooms, great lighting, great music, and I also love how they had faux candles lit and also some sort of aromatherapy. Veerryyy luxurious. I don't recall the names of the massage therapists that I used, but I think they only had 2 therapists and I used both. Both were very nice. One of my favorite aspects of this place is the Biscoff biscuits they offer here with the complimentary tea, coffee, lemon water. I looove those, and always eat more than my share :) Because of so many Groupons and whatnot, I would probably not return here and pay sticker price. But it's a great place to give a gift. read more

I would highly recommend Francis Cleary at Beaucage for a massage. I have this incredible knot under my right scapula which never seems to be resolve. I've tried everything from Thai Massage to Tai Chi. Francis freed my shoulder! This massage was firm but effective and yet not painful. Francis also gave me exercises which I can do at home to help prevent my shoulder pain. I wish I could come here once a week. My only complaint is that parking is difficult. read more

Beaucage is a good place. Conveniently located across from Filene's Basement (Newbury) I dont think it is too expensive. My cut, color and blow dry is approx. $80 without tip. They are extremely efficient with multiple helpers keeping the stylists on schedule. Criticisms: Too little seating - I dont really want to sit in the "reception area" with nasty color on my head. Not many nights with late hours. The hair color smell is there is SO nasty when you first walk in the door! I wish there was better ventilation . . . But once, the spa masseuse Brad (from Beaucage Spa upstairs)came by and gave free 5 min shoulder/upper back massages to those of us in the waiting room. How sweet!! read more

When it comes to facials- 5 stars. Monica is fantastic at treating your skin, determining your needs, and giving you skin care products that work with your routine and needs. She always does an amazing job with facials and she is the main and only reason I come back. Manicures and pedicures- mediocre. They weren't the best nor were they the worst mani and/ or pedi that I received. They were very pricey and making an appointment is difficult given that the specialist are booked solid with repeat guests. The highlight of their mani and pedi service was the different lotions and creams they use but the actual manicure and polish selection is very limited. I was never impressed with this service which is why I eventually found a different place to get manis and pedis. Hair services- I have curly ethnic hair so I wouldn't recommend this place for that. Thick curly hair is hard to deal with. I got a blow dry and flat iron a few times but as soon as I walked outside it would get all frizzy. Again, I'm sure they do great hair services just not on my thick curly ethnic hair. read more

stay away....this place is rude and unprofessional. I tried 5 appointments before I never returned. 3 of my 5 appointments I didn't receive the services I booked. Pushed off to another stylist to blow dry my hair ....waited 45 mins after I was told by my stylist it would be only a few minutes wait. The following two appointments my stylist just never performed my scheduled services I booked. It is impossible to make the same mistake three times. She was always in rush .....I felt each time as if she had no time for me. Worst I truly believe she did not want me as client because of an issue with my hair. I've gone to this salon on and off over the years and like the estheticians I've used. I personally have had good experiences with Monica in the past. Recently saw another esthetician who was also fine and had a nice personality. Unfortunately I found out a few days later that there was an error the staff made in my cc payment and the way they applied an incentive offer I had received - they called me to make an (upward) adjustment. Not a big deal as the extra amount was nominal, but I found that it was handled awkwardly and was disappointed to have experienced that with a Newbury St establishment around for 25 years. In addition, I am updating this review because I was not pleased with the results for this visit (it became apparent after a few weeks). I am reluctant to make a return visit. read more

The pedicure lasted shiny and perfect for a month! It's a bit pricey but worth every penny considering the location, the quality of products, environment and just hands down great staff. I recently went into Beaucage on a friend's recommendation, and I was pleasantly surprised. I had Crystal as my stylist, and she was great! She really listened to me, and while I only desired a trim and some more layers, she did EXACTLY what I wanted. She even cut just a half inch off the length (I feel like stylist's almost always take an inch or more, regardless of what you say). My cut was $45 and I tipped her $11. I think this had something to do with being the youngest in the salon; I kind of felt that I had to prove myself. I went here using two BuyWithMe coupons, one for a cut, highlight, and treatment with Jenn and another for a wax with Karen. Jenn was great! Easy to talk to and did great a great color/cut. Will definitely go back for the quality of work that was done and for the price. Karen was fantastic. This was not my first wax, but it had been a while so it might as well have been. She made me feel at ease right away and I was in and out within 25 minutes--and definitely one of the less painful wax experiences I have had. I already made my next appointment with her. I came here recently with a Spa Finder gift certificate. I usually get my hair done out in Newton so it was nice to come down to Newbury Street and visit the neighborhood. I chose a senior stylist to keep costs down (believe me, it was still expensive). Jackie was very friendly and attentive. She listen to my color needs and it came out great (along with the gloss which really pulled it all together). The cut was good too, but I think she really shines as a colorist. I don't really dig the way the waiting area is also where people are sitting to let their color set. It's a little mishmash and awkward. I realize the studio is city-sized so there's not a lot of space, but this could be improved. I don't really like to sit with my hair all gooed up with color in front of the receptionist booth. Maybe it's me... I no longer live in the city so chances are slip that I will be coming back, but I would recommend Beaucage as an acceptable place for a cut and color. read more

I recently took advantage of a spectacular BuyWithMe deal for a cut & color at Beaucage. As a first-time client, I was greeted warmly by both the receptitonist team, as well as my stylist, Samantha. She took the time to listen to what I wanted--and gave me exactly that: A deep warm brown color and some long layers and sideswept bangs, while keeping the length on my recently grown-out hair mostly intact. It was perfect! The blowdry was just-right, too. Often times--especially when going to a new salon--the blow dry & style just doesn't feel right. This felt like I did it myself--(i.e., I was able to recognize myself in the mirror), but also looked a bit like I did it myself (i.e., none of that fabulous volume that I can never achieve on my own). The location of this salon isn't super-convenient for me, but if it were, I wouldn't hesitate to pay Samantha another visit. And if you're looking for a friendly, trustworthy stylist, I think you'll be quite happy in Samantha's chair. read more

The best hair cuts and coloring a Ive ever had!!! I found Beaucage, through a Groupon and had cross-referenced with a friend of mine who had been there before. I've worked with Jose, a few times now and it's a great relationship. He knows exactly what to do with my hair as more importantly, he listens to my input. Take for example my balayage. I had never colored my hair before and wanted to keep it natural. He used organic products that are great for my "virgin hair." I love that he suggested NOT bleaching my hair and seeing if it would take the color. Jose is currently a junior stylist which makes him affordable (broke student alert), but his talent and energy will let him quickly rise to the top and become a master stylist in no time!!! Definitely recommend him; oh, and if you let him know I sent you and you'll get a referral discount; which is also a great way to cut some costs! read more

I went here last week for a Brazilian wax and I was surprised at how pain free it was! I had my wax done with Monica and of all the waxes I've had, this was definitely the least painful of them all. I just wish it wasn't so expensive for the waxing -- I'd come in alot more often! I also got my hair cut and colored with Jen. I would say it went good but nothing to rave about. I've been going to Beaucage for years for great haircuts and updos, but this review is about MASSAGE BY FRANCIS. IF YOU GET ONE MAASAGE IN YOUR LIFE, THIS SHOULD BE IT. Seriously. I went in for this massage as a medical intervention--woke up with a spasming back and wanted to nip it in the...spine? before it got worse. Francis, the Man With The Magic Hands, took care of it. This guy's hands can be as delicate as a baker crimping a pie crust, but he knows how to find the trigger points and put the pressure on. After my massage was done, he took more time to show me how to prevent back spasms myself at home. Half an hour later, the pain was entirely gone, leaving only a faint residual soreness (completely to be expected). Can't say enough about how great Francis is--except I'll be back, and I won't wait for a back spasm next time. read more

I have been going to this salon for almost over a year. I came here because it was the only available place that could fix my hair when a salon messed it up elsewhere. They got me right in, and Jeanne made sure I left with a smile on my face. This salon and Jeanne are the best thing that has ever happened to my hair. I never leave dissatisfied. Every time Jeanne manages to accomplish the perfect color and cut for me. I am the type to try a different style or cut here and there because you know... the sake of change! This salon is amazing! I went for a mani and pedi with a friend last week. The staff is totally focused on the client, offering friendly smiles, cups of coffee and small talk right from the beginning. They were also quick to offer suggestions and tips for nail maintenance. I got shellac put on my finger nails since normal polish never seems to stay for more than three days at best. It's been a week now and the polish still looks wonderful. You would think I went just today to have my nails done. I would go back again and again. read more

I get my balayage hair done by Alejandra. She is so so awesome and listens to what I want. I go for a natural look and she did exactly that. When you have short hair, sometimes it needs more depth and she understood it. Also, prices are surprisingly not too bad for being on Newbury street. I've only came two times but she will be my colorist for now on. I would recommend Alejandra a million and one times. read more

I really love Katherine - I never thought I could feel comfortable in such an exposed position, but she is so casual and relaxed she makes it easy. I have gotten underarm and bikini waxes here, and it was much less painful than I had imagined - and it's over so quickly! The bikini wax was absolutely perfect and I was thrilled with the results. With the underarm wax she does not always seem to do as thorough a job - she doesn't tweeze that area and usually misses a few hairs. The spa itself is nice, everyone who works there is friendly and not at all Newbury Street snooty, and the atmosphere is very soothing. The water tastes like cucumbers. I am addicted to waxing now! I wish I could afford to go more often. read more
