Poor people skills we came for breakfast and got here 10 before 10am and the "manager " told us 10 more mins until opening and that's no problem we can just walk around a bit. So we walk down the block a few steps and turn around and see he the "manager " sat a couple right after he told us 10 more min . What a Dick move ! Poor service and poor food quality. Came here on a recommendation of the resort that I was staying at. Was told that the establishment was "classy". Umm, no. Ate here last night and was a little disappointed. We had the guacamole which sadly wasn't good. Probably the first time ever we didn't finish an order of guac. They put edamame in it which sounds cool but didn't taste great unfortunately but points for effort. The bread and dip was good! Wow, that was delicious! Friendly staff and surprisingly nice inside. Good music and seating, but the food was excellent and the reason I will be coming back. Between the four of us we had: the beaumont burger (feta, sundried tomato, carmelized onion), a chicken sandwich (with a very LARGE chicken breast hanging off the bun with melted Swiss and avocado/tomato/lettuce), another cheeseburger, the spinach flatbread, the guacamole plate, and some drinks. I come to see Emma behind the bar and the service is always wonderful! I love to come and see the live music, for such a small space it sure gets poppin in there! I have tried a handful of items on the Happy Hour menu and the sliders are my favorite so far. Took advantage of their "togo" menu! It was delicious! The BBQ was amazing (we got the smoked chicken, brisket and ribs) and so were sides. The burgers were juicy and cooked perfectly! I highly recommend the Beaumont Berg. Topped it all off with a Black Forrest Brownie that just melts in your mouth and a bottle of wine. We will be back soon! Happy to support local. read more

I always go to Beaumont's when visiting La Jolla. The happy hour is now 4-6 pm with drink specials of $5.00 each only from 4-5 pm. The food specials to 6 pm. I believe that a couple of years ago that happy hour was 4-7 for drink and food specials. My friend and I were that last week and ordered a martini and food. We ordered another martini before 5 pm. At that time, the waitress informed us that she gave us the happy hour deal on the first two but that the second ones would be full price -- $14.00 each. When I paid the bill, it was on one of the hand held devices where you don't really have time to review the bill. So I paid and added a 20% tip. When the printout of the bill came, I saw that the charge for 2 martinis was $36.00. This is outrageous, especially when technically it should have been $5.00 each. If I ever go back to Beaumont's, I will be sure not to order martinis. Watch out for their drink charges and review your bill before you pay it!!! read more

We used to visit about once a month because the food and service were very good. Food is still good, but service not so much. A few months ago a drink tasted funky so I sent it back. Instead of just saying "let me get you something else," the Bartender was somehow offended, came over to the table, and argued that I was mistaken. Ooooookay. Waited a few months to forgive & forget. This time after waiting nearly half an hour for our pasta and taco dishes in an empty restaurant, I looked around to see if something had gone wrong. Server saw me and was also somehow offended. He told me it was pretty standard for meal timing and snidely mocked us for even suggesting it might be a bit much. The right answer would have been, of course, again, to be pleasant rather than confrontational. Especially over nothing. I understand empowering staff, but things here may have gone too far. Making customers feel unwelcome is literally the opposite of what the hospitality business is about. I see other reviews feel similarly about the downhill slide, So sadly we are probably done here. Love this place for brunch! It is in such a cute area of La Jolla with cute shopping around it. They actually take reservations which is rare for a brunch place, but even if you don't the wait is never more than 20 minutes. I've gotten the chicken and waffle benedict, breakfast burrito, and the carne esada benedict which all were perfection! They make really great coffee drinks and brunchy cocktails as well. The vibe here is really cute also, there is always live music on the weekend which I love and the patio is nice. DEF recommend! read more

A cute local eatery with a great ambiance. Brussel sprouts were delicious, gnocchi was a little bland. Mediterranean salad was great, pretty large so I was able to take home leftovers. I ordered the Salmon entre plate and it was embarrassing to say the least at the portion of the plate size compared to the price. It was a $30 dollar salmon entre on a snack sized plate with minimal side options. I wouldn't have been so dismayed had the salmon filet been a decent size, but it was hardly enough to fill up a single persons appetite. There were maybe 2 fingerling potatoes and a carrot on the side. If you're hungry, don't order the salmon entre. read more

Well, this was probably the most confusing place to dine. I'm still not really sure what to make of the place. The restaurant serves contemporary American food and has a bar and live band area. We came for restaurant week, excited to try a new place. Atmosphere: confusing. It's a bar and a restaurant, I get it, but I was so confused by the music selection. A bit of EDM and stuff you'd hear in a discotheque. I'm down with getting my twerk on, but not so much when I'm eating dinner or sipping a cocktail. The music was loud enough to make conversation strained (i.e., awkward when you bring a date out to dinner). We were wondering when the gogo dancers were coming out to start the party. O_o Service: mediocre at best. We were placed in a cozy back booth, which seemed secluded at first. There was a bit of foot traffic unfortunately, as the path to the restroom and kitchen went right by us. Despite the foot traffic, we got neglected by our server. Took quite a while to place an order, and our server infrequently checked on us. Food: a lesson in extremes. We ordered the clams, meatballs and the salad as the app. The salad was a bit salty, and had an orange fibrous-appearing vegetable that was bland. I determined that it was an unripened persimmon. Unfortunately, our server didn't know what a persimmon was. The clams were way too salty. Like unpalatable salty. Meatballs were ok. For the entree, we tried the chicken (bland, but the cheese with it was pure salt), scallops (way too spiced! Go easy on the cumin and coriander, guys!), and the short ribs (cooked perfectly, but totally devoid of taste, with an overly spicy and salty white bean purée). Dessert was a triple chocolate cake (read: brick of dried chocolate brownie with melted peppermint crème that needed to be whipped a bit more). Overall, the place looked ok, but I was so bummed about the food. So many extremes in flavors, and it just didn't taste good at all. I was so excited for the short ribs, and they were cooked so well, but had no taste! So bummed! So, if you're up for a confusing dining experience, with some interesting sensory inputs from flavor, sights, and sounds, enjoy! Unfortunately for me, my experience, although entertaining, didn't make for a good meal. Overall total: Atmosphere: 3/5 Price: 3/5 Service: 2/5 Food: 2/5 2.5/5, round up to 3. I ordered the "Char Burger" and was excited. To start I was hungry. And I have also been told that is an amazing burger. So I ordered the burger - cooked medium. I got it and it was over well done. And super dry. I tried but after two bites I had to send it back. Got another burger and it was also medium done Not medium. And still super dry. I don't even think they put any of the house aioli on it. I got my burger to go so maybe that is it? Also only a tiny tiny amount of ketchup. Really sad. The last time I got lunch to go it was great. Great food! Great service from Christopher or Christian (I'm kinda bad with names sorry) . Great Happy Hour, ordered the Brussel Sprouts, Carnitas Lettuce Cups, truffle fries 10/10 and the Persole. Only reason for 4 stars is because the Persole was supposed to come with Hominy, and I guess the manager was trying to play it cool. (Honestly I didn't know what that was either, I don't blame the waiter for not knowing) and he was very nice. Also my second drink didn't have as much Aperol in my Aperol Spritz which made us think maybe my fiancé pissed them off a bit about the whole soup thing. But the guy behind the bar was chill and topped my drink off with some more Aperol. Overall, we still really love this place! We will come back, but next time after 4Pm because we really want brisket and some ribs! Also made my fiancé give our friendly waiter 20%! Like come on!! Don't be cheap. I've been here a few times now and it seems to get better every time. The first time was on a date with my boyfriend when I first met him. We sat outside and I don't remember anything being extraordinary; although, I fully admit that I was probably more focused on my hot date than anything else. ;-) The second time, a few months later, we made a reservation for date night and were sat at a two-top in a corner by the bar. While it was a fine experience, I recall that nothing stood out to me except for the service (great!) and the fact that the area we were in was getting busier by the minute, as a group of friends crammed in next to us to enjoy happy hour together (not as great but not horrible either). My last experience, recently, was the best. We came here on a Friday night with my boyfriend's parents. We sat on the dining room side this time and I noticed that the restaurant seems much nicer on that side. We had the same server as we had a few months back and service again was great. We were told about the specials (mussels and seafood paella prepared by a cook that had recently joined the team from Cafe 976). We ordered both and thoroughly enjoyed the dishes. Special thanks for the never-ending bread too. We were hungrier than we thought and it really helped to have that plate replaced so frequently! The food here was absolutely terrible on Cinco de Mayo. Dry chicken in a tortilla with no sauce is what they call an enchilada. The "salad" they served was a pile of shredded lettuce with about 10 individual corn kernels. the refried beans were over salted. the churros tasted like something I could make in a toaster oven out of the freezer. Do not let this place bait and switch you with pretty instagram pictures. the food is absolute garbage. I would have had a better Cinco de Mayo meal from chipotle for 1/5th of the price. RarrrrrrRarrr!!! Beware of dangerous cougars on the prowl!! This review is 100% based on the cocktail side of the business here. I can't vouch for the food, only the drinks and entertainment which I have enjoyed for years. I've heard that Beaumont's has changed a little over the past several years. This used to be my hangout with neighbors back in the day, but word has it 40 yr old+ ladies have moved in and lurk in the shadows waiting for their next prey. I haven't witnessed this in the Bird Rock den, but I usually come before the sun goes down so I may be arriving before the litter. This locally owned restaurant and late night bar has a small dining room where you can spot a California panther grazing on some vegetation for their hunt later in the night. Depending on the night Beaumont's will bring in a band and clear away some tables so the prey can be easily had on the dance floor. The main reason I come here is to get a cocktail and chat it up with the locals. You're always guaranteed a great bartender and spot on cocktails. There is a bar top that holds around 12 and conversation is usually lively. Sit your ass on a stool, order up and enjoy the best cocktails Bird Rock has to offer. All kidding aside Beaumont's is still a great get away from Mayberry and the kids, just stand tall, make yourself big and no sudden movements. Cheers!! read more

It's been some time since we've been to Beaumont's but only because we moved to another part of town, and Bird Rock is just kind of in one of those awkward locations where you have to drive through at least one other area to get there (PB or LJ.) Anyway, it was still as awesome as ever.
