Bar Ella is an amazing addition to your PB afternoon or evening. I'm normally a dive bar or gastro pub sort of guy - and listen, I know most of the local's miss Bub's - but Bar Ella is a very unique option in PB and one that's very needed. We first came in by accident. Our usual dinner spot was slammed because of a game and we were on foot, so we went to the closest spot we could find to sit that seemed nice. We've been back at least four times since and each time it's been fantastic. Staff is amazing (Morgan took care of us last time). Cure decor. Food is unique for this area and perfect. Plates can be shared or eaten on their own. Fantastic craft cocktails. Great for dinner with friends, kicking off an evening out, or a date. We've taken our toddler and she loves it too. read more

Happy hour review: 4-6pm M-TH and 4-7pm on Friday. Bar Ella has a really good happy hour menu. Their classic cocktails are $6 and their creative cocktails are $7. They also have some small bites for $6. I tried the Kentucky Kat which was really tasty. I also tried the potatoes and slider. I really enjoyed both, the slider comes with bacon and blue cheese. The service was quick and friendly and the bar is a nice spot to sit for a bit. I'll be back, I want to try the Mr. Tom Kha cocktail next! read more

Perfect detail--that actually makes it sound way better. Here's the updated version, still natural: Tried bar Ella in PB and it was actually really cute. We got a hoagie with fries, chips with dip (topped with caviar), and espresso martinis. The hoagie was fresh and filling, bread was soft, and everything tasted really balanced. Fries were crispy, and the dip with the caviar on top was honestly so good... a little extra but worth it. Drinks were strong and well made. The espresso martini was smooth and not too sweet, which I liked. Service was good, everyone was friendly and checked in without being annoying. The ambiance is probably my favorite part though. It's super clean, modern, and a little elevated but still relaxed. It feels like a nicer PB spot without being too much, like you can dress up a little or just come casual and still fit in. Really great drinks especially for the happy hour prices. They weren't diluted - you can actually taste the alcohol. I especially loved this carrot juice coconut mezcal cocktail. Very tropical. Like a cross between a pina colada and a mai tai. Our server Morgan was wonderful and gave great suggestions. My only critique is the atmosphere/ambiance. It's a bit stiff and not cozy - it almost feels a bit unfinished with the decor/art. Still would come back to try more of their great cocktails! read more

Bar Ella is the new old Bubs on Garnet. We stepped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon after a nice walk on the beach. The place is large, and very modern, especially compared to before. The staff was very friendly and attentive. All dishes are served on these cute antique plates. Fun to appreciate the wide variety of plates. We started off with the: Deviled eggs- with turmeric and pickled beet - delicious! Roasted carrots with whipped feta cheese- surprisingly good! Sliders with caramelized onions- so good! Stopped in with some girlfriends while visiting PB and I'm so glad we did! We were drawn to this place after looking at the menu and seeing they had a girl dinner consisting of a Caesar salad with fries, with an option to add on a martini. I'm more of an Aperol spritz lover so i opted for that instead. I added grilled chicken to my salad and appreciated that it was freshly grilled and not the frozen kind. Think bar and restaurant type of place. We got a couple of dishes to split among us and overall everything was good. The pickled deviled eggs (3.5/5) were all right. I'm not a big fan of pickled things so considering that it was still good lol. Steak bites were good (3.5/5) too and cooked perfectly. It doesn't look like a lot but we were able to split it among 4 people. Lastly the bar Ella burger (4/5) was probably my favorite. Shoutout to the kitchen for cutting the burger in 4 for us!! Solid place for a drink! This place is cute, especially compared to the old business that used to be here. Margarita ($12) was good and service was great at the bar! Ended up coming here because the surrounding bars were packed/had lines during St. Patty's weekend. This was a lot less busy, but still had a handful of people, which we enjoyed so we can actually have a place to sit and hear each other. No complaints at Bar Ella! Hosted my birthday celebration here this past weekend, and I just wanted to say how much I appreciate all the attention to detail Krista put into making the day so special. The customized menu was such a thoughtful touch, and she even helped put together my balloon decorations. The former Bub's At The Beach has been remodeled and reopened as bar Ella which was a play on the last name of the primary female owner. The ownership group also operates several other establishments in town like the nearby Tavern at the Beach. The inside looked much more upscale and didn't resemble a stereotypical bar on this block in PB. It was a bit noisy when I visited during one of their first nights of business. There was a parklet in front of the suite, however it wasn't operational yet. The one-page menu offered elevated items compared to the typical bar staples. This was reflected in the prices which was $10+ for nearly all of the food. The twenty or so offerings were small plates and shareable items including Clams Casino and Whole Branzino. Two desserts were on the bottom of the sheet. I sat at a high-top table across from the bar which stretched along the right side of the room. I chose the Crab Cake and Flat Iron for my meal. The first was a lump crab patty seasoned with old bay and served with fresh greens. I would like to have seen two smaller patties for this dish and the sauce on the side as a dip as opposed to being smeared on the bottom as a base. The second was six slices of steak cooked medium-rare as my preference. The meat came with four fried pieces of potato that looked like fish sticks. It was gratin dauphinois which was sliced raw potatoes baked with horseradish aioli. This was definitely not french fries or tater tots. The concept of bar Ella was intriguing because it stands out on Garnet Ave which is filled with bars and fast casual joints that cater to the younger college-aged crowd. I enjoyed my dining experience enough to give it a four star rating. read more

The moment you walk in, you're greeted with a space that feels both stylish and inviting--modern, boutique-y, and just the right amount of luxe. The food is creative and full of flavor: the charred cauliflower was a total standout, and the fried olives? Blue cheese-stuffed perfection. Next-level. Also obsessed with the "Girl Dinner" concept (pro tip: get the bE martini they add blue cheese stuffed olives!). Oscar, our server, was incredible--attentive, genuine, there for the vibes, and had great recommendations. The cocktails are thoughtfully crafted, the vibe is perfect for a date night or a girls' night, and everything feels well-curated without being pretentious. One of my friends recommended this place, and I have finally had the chance to try it out. Rumor has it that this place is too good to survive in PB (in terms of food quality and cuisine and possibly due to the usual placement on Pb surrounded by smoke shops). My boyfriend and I went around 6:00 p.m. this past saturday, there were only about 3 other customers there. We decided to sit at the bar, in hopes for more energy and unfortunately got the opposite. The hosts was super nice, but the bartender was pretty rude. Definitely in the top 5 worst service experiences I've had. No introduction, after she took my boyfriends drink order she asked for IDs (which is not general problem) but didn't seem like she was going to take my drink order at all... They had an expresso Martini special, $6 for the whole month of July, I love a good expression martinis so I figured made sense to order it. We also ordered the deviled eggs and crab cakes. My expresso Martini was super watered down and very disappointing. I was texting on my phone when the bartender asked us what we wanted to eat, which you would think would not a great time to interrupt... after 30 minutes or so, we paid for the bill and we're working on finishing our drinks, I was on my phone and noticed she took our drinks and my water... luckily, she didn't have the hand to take my boyfriend's water, so I had the chance to drink some of that, at least. but wow, I've never felt so rudely rushed out. As a reminder there's Essentially no customers and twice as many employees. and I've not given in to her rudeness. This entire time, I've kept it calm, cool, and respectful. Found this place on Instagram and went for happy hour! They have $6 espresso martinis the whole month of July so of course we ordered them. I really enjoyed the espresso martini and the bartender was great! We also ordered the brussels sprouts from their happy hour food menu that changes every week. They were good but I wish they were crispier. After happy hour ended, we got two specialty cocktails (hot girl summer & blueberry pickin) which were ok. I got the blueberry pickin and didn't really care for it. We sat at the bar and the chairs were quite awkward and uncomfortable which was unfortunate. I feel like there might've been too many chairs as all the chairs were quite close together. Overall, I think I'd try this place again for dinner and sit at one of the lower tables. read more
