For context, I probably have closest to a 2C wavy type hair, no color treatment, hair near my waist & my last haircut was maybe 6 months ago. I have very dry hair & want to keep my hair long while making it stronger & healthier. I booked a haircut & K18 treatment. I am writing this review 2 days after my visit & drove from the Costa Mesa area. Service- Tawnya asked a lot of specific questions to make sure we were on the same page for what I wanted. It was surprising how detailed some of the questions were, some were things I never thought about. She told me exactly how much she'd be cutting off & it was exactly that. We also did a leave in treatment which my hair desperately needed. I could instantly feel the difference in my hair. The ends were completely soft and my hair had an extra shine to it. People around me noticed too, two days after my visit & I'm still getting compliments about how great my hair looks. I will absolutely be coming back. Location - Look for Sola Salons when you pull up to the parking area. That is the entrance you'll want to take. Tawnya has her own private studio inside. Part of the reason I hate going to a traditional salon is the combined noise from all the stylists. It is overstimulating & I walk away feeling exhausted. So when I moved to Paramount I talked to a few different salons and found one right up the street and he sounded like he knew what he was doing (Big Mistake). Before I could even answer his question which was how would you like it done, he had stared cutting 1 1/2 inches off and then he made a statement to me this is how I like to do old ladies hair. I was frozen in the chair hoping there was away he can turn it around. I walked out of there so embarrassed. When my grandaughter walked in to pick me up she gave me a look as if to say. What did you do to my grandma I was so shocked she didn't I think she knew that would of made me feel worse But then I talked to Isabelle and I'm so glad I did. I was so afraid to go to another unknown stylist but the minute I sat in her chair I was at ease. The gray in my hair had grown out so badly I was nervous it couldn't be covered up but she did it with also a great color choice. She was so sincere after the color was done and she finally was able to take a good look at the cut she kindly said Geri there's nothing we can do about the cut until it grows out. She could of simply said oh I can fix it don't worry you'll look beautiful when I'm done and charge me more but that's not the woman she is though. The time you spend with her while in the chair isn't awkward at all So Monday I'm going to call to see if I can get in next Tuesday to cover the grays and a cut I hope it's grown out to be able to start the process of a great hair cut again. I started to lose volume at the roots and within two hours of styling my hair fell flat and lost all the volume I got from diffusing. As she washed and style my hair she explained everything that she was doing and I learned that for my hair I have to keep product away from my roots. Also my hair needed a cut to help with the volume since it was almost the length all around. Thank you Asia!! Best part is that she's less than 15 mins away from me. No more driving 10+ miles or being stuck in traffic for a haircut.
