I have been going to this place for eyebrows for about 9 years. They're usually just fine, but today the woman cut me. She was being very aggressive when moving the string and gave me similar to a "paper cut" when I said something, she said "sorry there's nothing to do about it". Great cheap waxing and threading salon! Great service, great technicians. Parking is a bit tight during student pick up in the afternoon. They cut costs where they can- if it looks like the table covering isn't fresh, don't be afraid to ask for a clean one. Also, the technician wanted me to lie with my feet on the head rest, without anything under my head, because it was more convenient for her. Um... no. I usually go here to get my eyebrows done and they always do a good job but one lady there should actually be fired immediately. She actually ruined my eyebrow and i didn't even realize until i got in the car. She took a whole piece off my eyebrow and She took about 5 seconds to do both of them she didn't care at all. went for the second threading on my Groupon and I will never go back again. I agree with Dana M. that there is no consistency. I am very picky about my eyebrows after having to grow them back after I was stuck with a surprised look after a bad threading job. I usually go to a salon in the city but was looking for something in the LI area. I am VERY specific as to what I want. Homegirl jacked me up! I had two different shapes and her response was"oh im sorry". I think the language barrier is a problem. When I went back to my usual spot she was like "what happened to your eyebrows". I wish there was an option for no stars. This salon has the worst service I've ever experienced. I called for a Japanese straightening in Saturday and was told that they had nothing until Tuesday. I said I had work, so I couldn't get there until 6. The woman on the phone did not seem to understand English and kept getting confused. Finally, we set an appointment for the following Saturday. I arrived that Saturday and was told that the girl that does the straightening was not in. How unprofessional. Not only was the actual service supposed to cost an exorbitant amount of money, but they did not have the courtesy to call and cancel with me. This procedure is lengthy and the place was not around the corner, so I wasted an entire day dedicated to this, just to find out they didn't have the courtesy to cancel. They did not even apologize or offer a different day. I will not be back here and I will not recommend anyone to go here and deal with unprofessional service. read more

I discovered this place with google maps, uh huh, I got the connect, and strolled in, no wait time, the stylists were very stylish and friendly (sooo rare but highly appreciated!) I got a wash, cut, and blowout for $30. Yupop. I was beyond digging the price, even more importantly, the cut was beautiful, subtle but sexy...subtle sexy, u could say, and I knew I would visit this place for my next cut. 2nd visit- I got an ambre (w/e with spelling), the girl was so nice and my hair came out SO HOT, it wasn't cliche or tack, everyone noticed, everyone loved. My most recent visit was 2 days ago, I got to speak to ( nd be cut by) the owner who is really nice and super talented. Everytime I go I gain more trust in their instincts to make my hair different and most definitely, crazy beautiful, and for a decent price. I tip well, according to me, cus I really appreciate their work, the look of the salon (cleanliness included) and the associates' abilities. O O Plus! Locale! This is not a place you can confidently go in and have just any girl working their take care of you. The last time I went, an older woman threaded my eyebrows and messed them up. For the first time in YEARS I have crooked eyebrows. One is much thinner and shaped differently than the other. What a nightmare. I can't wait for it to grow back so I can go somewhere else. I usually go to zip zap in Freeport but they had a super long wait on sunday and I saw a deal on groupon so I tried this place instead. Let me tell you I'm so sorry I did. The eyebrows themselves came out ok as far as the shape but the girl was so rough with the thread that I walked out of there with cuts all over my face that were red and swollen and bleeding and the next day had scabs on the sides of my face by my eyebrows. She totally butchered me. I'm sure they will look fine when the scabs heal but who wants to go through that? It was the worst experience ever. read more

I went in to have my hair colored pink, ombré style, and blown out. After 2 hours of physical torture of having my hair pulled, my scalp burned, and eyes red from the ammonia and bleach, my hair was bright orange, green and purple. The "stylist" said that my hair didn't take the color and that it was normal to be in extreme pain because my "scalp was dry." It took her another full hour to "fix" it. The result is absolutely nothing what I wanted and I was still charged $100. My 8 year old niece said that my hair looks like "rusty orange metal." Amazing. My sister just noticed as I was bending down typing this that I have a bald spot. Never would I recommend this place to anybody. read more

I think I am like most women, we are very particular about our eyebrows and who threads/waxes them. I went to Rani's for years, but there were too many girls working there to stick with someone consistent. I started going to Sandra on a regular basis. She is extremely friendly and always threads my eyebrows with accuracy. I'm pretty obsessive when it comes to my shape, but she never disappoints. I even had my hair dyed there once. I was slightly skeptical, but the price was amazing and it was only a single process color. The younger girl (I completely forgot her name, sorry!) took her time and didn't miss a spot. She even straightened my hair to perfection! (I am even more obsessive when it comes to my thick, hard to manage hair) More than anything, I really like small businesses where they know your name and what you like. I moved out of Merrick a few months ago but still travel all the way back to Beauty Affairs to get the personal service that I've come to seriously appreciate. I am a licensed Esthetician and Massage Therapist that loves my Job. I decided to give myself a break and go for a facial and a scalp treatment through Groupon. Well it was the worst expetience of my life. When i First got there, This woman came to me without introducing herself to me. Gave her my name and told her i have an appointment . She told me to follow her and took me to this room. told me to lay down. no gown no nothing to put on. she put the steam on and walked out. she came back in did not even give me a skin analysis. started puting stuff on my face and massage it in very rough then appied more stuff i had no idea what it was. she continued to massage it in my skin for a good 8 minutes so rough. then washed my faced with a cold rough towel. right after used a metal tool and scraped my face with it. she then slapped a mask on my face which went all up my nose and left the room for a good 15 minutes. i was picking mask out of my nose. Did not receive no massage no nothing. came back in room roughly took mask off my face and applied cream that felt horrible and said i was done. told her my eyes are burning and if i can get a tissue. she gave me a paper towel. just horrible. she was unfriendly did not ask for any of my concerns nothing. She just did not care because i was a Groupon person. I really dont think she is a licinsed Esthetician. and after all she did my hair. and that was just as horrible. One smart thing is she did not give mewas her name . I would tell the world. Dont go there. I went there on Tuesday Sept. 20th 2016. Just horrible. As a seasoned eyebrow threading client, i've lived and learned. You have to know where to go & who to go to. This is my "go to" threading salon. Plus, I never have to wait longer than 5min. With any salon, your direction has to be clear... clean up, or reshape, not too thin, small arch. I had a great experience, the lady, whom sadly i didn't get the name of, attended us promptly. We had mentioned if we could get henna tattoos done. Our girl was so talented! I've been very pleased with the eyebrow threading here. I never leave with redness like I do from waxing. I agree with other posts that the younger women do a really great job. I like that they open at 9:30 am when other salons tend to be closed, and lip and brow is only $10. I often get compliments on my eyebrows so they must be doing something right! read more

This was my first time going there. I went shortly after they opened the young lady who helped me was extremely rude. she kept making comments about how dry and bad my hair looked and when I asked her to cut my bangs and showed her a picture of what I wanted she did the complete opposite. when I asked her to fix it she said no because it doesn't look right. I left there extremely upset and unsatisfied. this place is unprofessional and I don't even know how they're in business.i would not recommend this place to anyone. their service is terrible. read more
