My toenails weren't cleaned underneath after I asked about it and my tech wouldn't remove two small ingrown more like hangnail areas that other nail techs have helped with before. * Nail polish removal was very rough and uncomfortable. * The massage lasted less than a minute and the whole service felt rushed. There were only 3 people in the salon: my mom, myself and one other person and they seemed much more attentive to the other woman. * The salon didn't feel very clean. The walls were dirty, the baseboards were dusty, they had stuff duct taped on the chairs that were falling apart. The furniture and pillows were mismatched and the hallway to the restroom had a shredded curtain and wasn't well maintained in the back. Bathroom was pretty dirty too. * There were only three technicians working on a Saturday and the overall quality of service reflected that. *They did have AC which felt nice during this hot summer, but other than not much else going for this place. I actually drove from South Bay to San Gabriel (LOL) because I was really enamored and respected her artistry. I loved the little salon and how professional Lannie is. She's been in the industry for well over two decades and it clearly shows. I appreciated her patience with me as I'm new to getting nails done. The single one star review is actually from a temp employee that is no longer with Lannie! Her prices are on par with most salons. If I remember correctly, it's $40 for single color gel, and then $2-3 per nail for art, $2 per nail for gold flaking. Obviously it really depends on the designs you want but expect about $75 on average, and don't forget to tip either. If you're not sure, she responds pretty quickly to estimated costs. The gel manicure lasted me about 2 weeks, and I ended up taking mine off at home but didn't do it correctly so my nails are pretty bad and will probably take a few more weeks or months to get back to what they were like before. I'd just get it taken off for $10 or so at a reputable salon next time I get gel. I'd love to come as a regular but the salon itself is too far away for me to be comfortable to make that time commitment (2 hour roundtrip + 2 hour appointment) every two weeks. So for now, I think I'll probably try to stop by when I have a day off or for special occasions. Lannie's really busy, expect to need to book an appointment 2-3 weeks out.

One thing I really appreciate is that she keeps up with the latest trends by adding new colors, techniques, and services. Although Cathy is usually booked by appointment, I typically see Mimi or Sami, and they both do an excellent job. They also accept walk-ins, which is convenient. There's another nail technician who wears either a cross or pearl necklace (I don't know her name), and she does beautiful manicures as well. Like most businesses, their prices have increased over the years, but I still find them reasonable for the quality of work. During my most recent visit, I got a basic pedicure ($23) and a manicure. Cathy repaired one of my natural nails using builder gel and powder, and my nails turned out beautiful. My total, including a $5 tip for each technician, came to $78. If you're getting gel polish, keep in mind it's an additional $10, which is clearly communicated. Overall, the staff is friendly, the salon is clean, and I've trusted them with my nails for over seven years. By the second time, she seemed visibly annoyed, so I decided to let it go rather than make the interaction more uncomfortable. I left unhappy with my manicure. She also left my hands oily from the cuticle product, which made the service feel unfinished. The pedicure technician was lovely, but the manicurist's attitude and behavior made the experience uncomfortable enough that I won't be returning.
