Had an unexpected great experience here. They had a great selection of salon and professional products that are not carried by regular stores. I got some Bumble and Bumble products that were on sale and cheaper than online, which is great because I get to help a local business, get my stuff today, and be environmentally friendly. Pro tip: If you want to try stuff they have salon and professional products in travel sized bottles, so you can try without commitment or look great on the road. I love this place. I recently came in and purchased the Bumble & Bumble Orange Shampoo and the Seaweed conditioner. I got the orange leave in heat protectant spray. My hair is so soft and silky now. I was also recommended to get the light pink blusher and it looks so much better on my fair skin. That guy that works there is fantastic. I bought some hairspray and after 3 uses it clogged up. I tried cleaning the nozzle but to no avail. I brought it back to the store to exchange the hairspray for one that worked and the employee working there refused an exchange. She said once I purchased it that was it and I was out of luck. I used to drop $200+ dollars every few months in there but I've never been back and never will step foot in that store again. Horrible management / ownership. I came into town for work on a business trip at Facebook I'm an engineer, and my co-worker recommended this place. I had just taken my hair out from being twisted up due to me swimming all weekend. I walked in and quickly the lady greeted me and said oh sorry we don't carry black products. Excuse me, that was my first thought. As I'm looking around I see products that I use on my hair. I will say this... People like her are the reason why the world is so divided I'm also an influencer as well as my mother is white and my father is Korean. They have fake products here. I just moved to the area and needed to replace my devacurl shampoo stat. The bottle looked exactly how it should, but even in the store, I thought the product inside was a different color and smell. I asked the girl about it, thinking maybe devacurl just changed their formula, but she didn't know anything. Once I got it home, I became suspicious. I then bought a second bottle from Amazon. I've been shopping at Beauty Plaza for about three years. I've always thought the owner was knowledgeable about her product lines, and has been pleasant towards her customers. Recently, the owner had her college daughter, who was on sumer break, running the store (by the way, thankfully, the younger sibling is 180 degrees different). I asked a question about the new hair bands, specifically, whether all of the hairband selections were displayed. Much to my dismay, her daughter answered me in a belligerent, haughty tone. There was nothing wrong with my question. Irrespective of her treatment, I decided to buy a couple of small things, in part, to give me an opportunity to tell her how I felt. I said "Are you okay? Try to cheer up -- you seem like you're in kind of a bad mood" (which I said with a nice, big smile). To paraphrase, she said she was, in fact, feeling cranky because she was hungry and she hadn't eaten all day (it was only about 12 noon). As a result of her snotty disposition, and further in light of the hundreds of dollars I've spent at this store, I'm boycotting BEAUTY PLAZA. I do not appreciate that while I've been a good customer of BEAUTY PLAZA for at least three years, I received such arrogant and stuck up behavior from a woman who's young enough to be my daughter. At the register, I proceeded to tell her that I was a good customer and I've spent hundreds of dollars in their store, to which she replied "Well ... all customers are important to us." Brilliant! You would have earned a lot more respect from me if you had followed up with something like, "Gee, I'm sorry if I sounded cranky. I'm just hungry." In short, after telling her I was a good customer of the store (actually, a "read-between-the-lines" statement to better mind your "p's" and "q's" if you don't want a good customer to tell mommy), she acted as if she could not care less whether or not I return to her store. Thankfully, I live in the U.S.A. and I have the right to shop elsewhere when I'm treated poorly. There are plenty of other beauty supply stores where I can shop. And, yes, I will call the owner, her mother, to tell her that I thought her daughter was rude, snippy and haughty when I asked her two simple questions. I stopped in here this afternoon hoping to find Loreal Fine Eyebrown Liner...Not! The store is small, cramped but well stocked. Mostly appeared to be hair care products and nail polishes but then I wasn't really checking it out big time since I was on a mission to fine an eyebrown pencil and sponge applicators. I did find that they had a nice selection of eye shadow sponge applicators but I didn't buy one since $3.49 was way too much for such an item. Awful. i purchased a nailtiques formula fix. Got it home and it was empty! I drove back to the store and the other 2 packets they had were the same. Clearly they had evaporated. I had my receipt and to that point our interaction was amicable - I wasn't that upset because of course, stuff happens. However, I was then refused a refund. I am aware that they have a no refund/exchange policy but under California Law you have to refund defective products. You can not refuse to do so! I did not want to take it out on the girl who had clearly no idea of the law but when I asked to speak with the owner they said they could not phone them. Apparently I could come back at "about 6.30" and I might catch them then. Might. Of course - i have nothing better to do than drive back for a 2nd time to discuss a refund I am legally entitled to with someone who "might" turn up. Ridiculous. I said I would try and find something for the same price but I now resented giving any $$$ to someone who flouts the law and I didn't want some spurious product - I wanted my $$$ back. I then requested a written confirmation that they were refusing to refund a defective product so I could complain to the relevant legal office and at this point the other assistant elected to give me a cash refund. Finally someone with sense but I hope she does not get it in to trouble for it. This was a very small amount of money but if it has been a more expensive item then the experience would have been the same. I will never shop here again and if you do I would recommend not purchasing anything which you can't afford to write off. FYI: Exact wording form the State Attorney's Office website "Sellers are not required by law to accept returned items unless they are defective". And Sections 1791-1793 of the California Civil Code which address implied warranty of merchantability". read more

Run away as fast as you can! As a beauty junkie, I tend to visit many beauty supply stores and during my recent trip to palo alto, I visited this store with a friend to buy a new conditioner. My hair was frizzy, dry and damaged but the person who recommended me a product didn't bother asking me a few questions and she just grabbed a conditioner as soon as I said dry hair. Their price range was quite steep but my phyto conditioner from sephora was running out anyways and I just got the conditioner thinking that it will calm down my hair. But guess what! My hair became more frizzy and crunchy and I could not even style my hair the next day! so I went back to return the product and was told that they have a strict "No Refund Policy". I threw out the whole bottle in vain and now I'm going back to sephora, Ulta, Planet beauty where they have a full refund policy and better customer service. Ladies, save your money and do not fall into a trap like I did. read more

I went to this store for the 1st time last week and asked for a recommendation for a leave in hair conditioner. They immediate grabbed a product by Soma. Oddly the other customer in the store also was referred to the same brand....not sure if they are getting some kind of incentive to recommend a certain brand there. Anyways, I bought it and after a few days it was clear the product didn't do anything. I tried returning it and I was made aware then that they DO NOT REFUND YOUR MONEY! Period! I paid with credit card and they said we don't give cash refunds....even if paid by credit card! They ONLY do store credit!!! So basically all sales are final! Horrible place to purchase any beauty supplies; I purchased a lot of stuff including an eye brow coloring kit-light brown= for $10.00, but when I came home and apply it on my eye brows, they turned jet black. I checked the color capsules and they were black instead of light brown. I was so mad; decided to go back to their store and talk to them. The girls (which I found they were the daughters of the owner) were not helpful at all. They had aloof and cold attitude toward me and didn't accept to reimburse me for their wrong product. I was standing there with my jet black eye brows fuming. One of the girls told me that probably I cannot use another color to fade the jet black color since it is difficult to get rid of black color. She said it the way that it was amusing for her. I ended up paying $15.00 to get my eye brows color fixed. I would never ever go there again. read more

Let me start by saying that people here should know professional brands are expensive. However, there are things that are over priced. I enjoy shopping at this store because they have these discount/stamp cards that saves me a lot of money. For every $55 a customer sends they get 5 bucks off. Trust me, its not hard to shop $55 because of how much products they carry. I recently shopped here TWICE in the last 2-3 weeks to buy this product that a filipino chick recommended. She was so nice! The first time I went, I brought my fiance's mom who is filipino. She couldnt really speak english but she took the time to translate and i thought it was very helpful!
