Hi all I'm just commenting because I was there when Kriti P. Who commented on Dec 2017 and wanted to clarify about how horrible she was to the staff and to not take her review seriously. She threw so much of a fit and the whole time said she'd comment on yelp so I've been waiting for her to comment since I love this place and think she was absolutely cruel. I've gone to this place several times and they always do the best job on my nails, and I know they do cuts and colors all the time too. Anyways Kriti comes in without an appointment and sits down and is already mad at them since she had another client. They try to brush her hair (btw her hair is incredibly thick--I can't remember the last time I saw such thick hair--and she keeps yelling at them to stop touching her hair, so you know this is gonna be a fun day for Ann. Then Kriti goes on and on about how they never remember her and she first says she was there a year ago for a cut and then later says she's there every month. For a blowout (a service that's not even on their menu....) she then asks the price for highlights and a cut which is $100, an insanely great deal. Better than I pay at my salon for sure, since highlights are usually the most expensive type of color job you can get. And Kriti then says she always pays $50 at this place (even though she said she's never dyed her hair?) and won't pay more. Honestly if you have that much hair and only want to spend $50 your best bet is Walmart boxed hair dye and scissors. Ann says $90 which is still not going to turn her a profit, and then Kriti goes on and on loudly about how rude Ann is! She's clearly being absolutely rude and difficult to negotiate price. So Kriti keeps calling Ann rude, and I'm sure Ann doesn't know what to say since "customer is always right" and how could someone in that position explain that they're not being rude, so Ann says "I'm sorry, I'm just tired." And Kriti keeps saying "that's not my problem, you're being rude, why should I even let you near my hair?" Ann keeps trying to talk to her but Kriti won't stop talking over her about how rude she's being and Ann can't get a word in. So Ann leaves because she's upset, and the girl is just pouting and being reaaaally rude to all the other women working in the salon. And then Ann comes back to try to negotiate and ask Kriti if she still wants her hair done. And Kriti says "well you're tired, how do I know you're not going to burn my hair off?" And Ann is just so backed into a corner there's not much she can say and Kriti keeps being rude and saying horrible things and Ann leaves in actual tears. Kriti continues to pout around and say "you all can't treat me this way I'm a customer" but honestly all she's mad about is that she would be charged $90 for a cut and color. For the record--salon academies and schools would charge at least $120 for that much hair to be cut and colored. I don't blame Ann at all, I don't know what you could say or do to possibly make a customer like that happy. That girl walked into that salon ready to be angry just trying to get a cheap hair cut and color out of it. And clearly she would never leave a good tip. Ann was gone for a while but when she came back she looked really upset still and her eyes were puffy, so not only did Kriti ruin Ann's day but she also left a horrible review simply because of her own tantrum. So now I'm leaving this one. I'm always amazed at how horrible people can be to service professionals and the crazy extent people will go to to take advantage of others to pinch pennies. Is being that horrible really worth saving a few dollars? And why on earth would you expect a good hair cut and color for actual box prices? Anyways I was upset enough for Ann and myself for not speaking up in the moment that I just spent way too long writing this all out. In summary: Kriti is the rudest person I've encountered since I moved to Sunnyvale a year ago, I've never seen anyone be so disrespectful in this area, and I hope no one takes her review too seriously. It's a great little salon with the cheapest prices around and they've always done an incredible job for me personally. My mother and I went to get our eyebrows waxed here, and it was a painful experience. When we returned the next day, the staff kept telling us that we have sensitive skin and that our eyebrows looked fine. My mom repeatedly mentioned to them that her skin is not sensitive. They really tried to convince us that it's normal. I don't usually rate my visits but I don't recommend going to this place for eyebrow waxing. For me, hair cuts are like trying on different items of clothing: I'm willing to try new things and have gone into places without knowing what I want. I've spent anywhere from $85 to $12 for a hair cut and have come to the conclusion that since I cut my hair frequently, I might as well go cheap since I usually try a new hair style. My Mom suggested this place solely on the the price ($14 and up) and since I haven't found my "go-to" stylist yet, I decided to try out Ann's. I walked in and waited for Linda since Ann was working on my Mom. I waited about 15 minutes since as I walked in, she was finishing someone's hair and then there was another lady she was working on and then a couple minutes after these two women left, some guy just strolled in and plunked his butt in a chair! HELLO! Customer waiting! I don't know if he had an appointment with Ann or if she thought it'd be faster to do his hair first before mine, or what, but at least she could have acknowledged to me that it'd be a few more minutes. When it was my turn, I sat down in Linda's chair. She didn't greet me or say a word to me throughout the cut. She cut with precision and efficiency and I ended up with not a new do, but a longer version of what I was sporting when I came back from Japan last December. Upon inspection at home, after my hair was dry, I noticed that my bangs were uneven so I corrected it. Other than that, the layers were perfect and I was happy with everything else. The cut cost me $15 which isn't bad at all. Ann's is not only a salon (4 chairs) but a nail place as well. There are 4 manicure tables in the front and about 4 pedicare seats in the back. This was the worst manicure I've ever had! They were very kind and friendly here, but honestly I won't be coming back. I could have done a better job myself. I picked a light color and I had to ask for extra coats so that the streaks wouldn't show. She did not paint the polish to the edge of my nails, and in the end there was nail polish all over my cuticles and nail beds. Most importantly, I seriously question how sanitary this establishment is. Things were very old/grimy/dusty, and I was so nervous about the tools that were used. The "hand massage" was so sad, not enough lotion, and the towel they used was cheap quality and was just a dry towel, not heated/hot. Very cheap, but you get what you pay for I suppose. She literally cut my hair with straight horizontal cuts at the edge without sectioning or anything and without lifting the hair strands for layers! This is how I cut my hair at home during COVID time in 2020. I just kept watching thinking that she's just setting the hair length, but nope! She was done with the hair cutting! she set them with blow dryer and it looked ok from distance, but I was wrong, after coming home I checked the hair strands and they were so much of uneven lengths! I got tired of paying $75 for a mediocre haircut so I came here with low expectations looking for a cheap, fast haircut and was very pleasantly surprised! Linda gave me a beautiful straight bob cut ($18 for a short haircut without shampoo). I also had a $25 manicure with gel polish from Lily, which was just as good as the $50 manicure I get from my usual place in Mountain View. I called on a Friday morning, and they were able to see me within the hour per my request, no questions asked...not even my name and number. Went in for my regular monthly haircut, my regular coiffure Linda isn't there but she's so busy and so am I, it's been days since I was trying to synch up with her schedule. Unable to do so, I decided to just go in today, I desperately needed a haircut. Today's Linda's off day, so I had her sister Ann (who's the salon owner) cut my hair. She was tied up with a customer, instead of waiting, I decided to have my very first pedicure. The girl was very gentle and, at the same time, very thorough. She carefully pedicured around both my feet applying solutions and sand down any tough and dead skins. After the pedicure, she even gave customers a 10-minute foot massage. It was done to perfection - just the right pressure. I wondered how a gentle soul could master that much pressure at the right spot and moment. $20 for the pedicure (with massage) is really a nice deal, especially when the pedicurist was as gentle and caring as she was. I came here to get my eyebrows threaded. I used to go to Allure Beauty Salon but only one women did eyebrows there and shes almost always booked - so I stopped going there. I ended up going to Seema Beauty Salon to get my eyebrows threaded for about a month and they did a fair job... but my eyebrows were always done too thin and it was a different women everytime... so my eyebrow shape changed every visit depending on who i got that day. I read the reviews for Ann's Hair and Nails and i thought i'd give this place a shot. I walked in and she was able to thread my eyebrows right away. I'm 110% satisfied with how she did my eyebrows!!! I was nervous at first because i usually had them done by indian ladies and going to an asian women made me nervous - but she knows exactly what shes doing! she made my eyebrow shape perfect for my face and she cleaned it up nicely! Usually i have to pluck away some hairs that the other beauty salons didnt get - but not this place. She also has you lay down to do eyebrows instead of slumping over in a beauty salon chair like most threading places do. I didnt feel uncomfortable at all and she was very professional. I will definitely be back here in 2 1/2 weeks to get my eyebrows done again. read more

Thanks for another great recommendation yelpers! I made an appointment in case they were busy on a Saturday, I got in for an hour later. I got eyebrows threaded and upper lip waxed, and a pedicure. I came 15 mins early and was seen right away. The salon lacked a bit of finesse. Magazines looked cluttered. The hair stations were very modern and nice but the massaging pedicure chairs seemed squished in the back like an afterthought. Ann was very careful with my eyebrows, professional and detail oriented. They looked amazing after. Upper lip doesn't require as much artistry, but she got it all off quickly and fairly painlessly. My pedicure was good, quick, clean. Massage left a little something to be desired. I guess it depends on the technician. Paint job was nice, she went back over with a brush dipped in acetone. She didn't try to up sell me too much like some places do. Manicure? Paraffin? Extra massage? Scrub? However, for $20 some other places do hot stone massage or hot towel therapy? They didn't have that here, but I was still happy enough with the pedicure. I thought the hair removal was far superior though. They also do full service hair services. Oh and I was surprised to see that most of the technicians spoke a good amount of English! And there was absolutely no gossip in Vietnamese, only work related things. I am fluent in Vietnamese and never tell them unless they ask. Its particularly annoying to me that this is a common problem with these inexpensive salons. :( read more

This place is why I just do my nails myself. I went here on my lunch hour to get a french manicure in black. They told me they had black nail polish. After my nails were prepped and I paid, I found out they only had black in some crappy brand, so I had to settle for a dark purple in OPI. I told the manicurist that I wanted the tips to be wider than my natural nail, not super thin, twice. I even told him when he was applying the color and I knew it would be too thin after he took all the excess off with a brush. The line ended up breaking way before my actual nail ended. Totally annoying because the only reason I went to get them done was because I was too tired to paint my nails super perfectly today. I should've just saved my money and done a better job myself. The polish is spotty, uneven and not dark enough. The tips are crooked and not the same size. My nails are not smooth in other places. Not impressed at all. The only good part was the hand massage. They only take credit for anything over $20, and charged me a fee of $1 for paying less, which is illegal. On top of that, it says french manicures are $13, but they charge $15 if you want any color other than white. Wouldn't come back. If you want your nails meticulously done, I wouldn't go here. read more

Many places will try their hardest to sneak that in, even when you specifically tell them not to. The place is not big, so if you are looking for a luxurious scene this is not that. Personally, I had been fed up on paying $45 plus on haircuts for my thinning hair!!! No high-end hairdresser seemed to cut it to my satisfaction as well as to "my" face.
