So I am from Reno, NV. I came to TX looking to move there... One day my kid and I was bored and decided to randomly drive to Shreveport, Louisiana. Just for the hell of it. We've never been to LA before. And figured it'll be an adventure. Once when we got to Shreveport we had no idea what to go do... but! I knew I HAD to try REAL Cajun food.... According to my IPhone GPS that BeaxJax craft house was the place to go. And man! Was it the best recommendation! ... Our waiter was awesome! I didn't catch his name, but he was friendly as hell! lol his Louisiana accent was amazing, I couldn't understand most of what he was saying but loved his energy. I ordered the 3lb crawfish, and I am STILL drooling over thinking about it. My kid ordered the ham and cheese sandwich, which was really good. I am still cracking up about how us Nevadans call crawfish - crawdads and the face reaction I got from the waiter was hilarious. Anyways though- full stars deserved! And the bill price is very descent... Hell here in Nevada we would have paid probably $80-$90 for what we got. So yes! Check this place out! read more

I ordered the Muffuletta poboy and it was terrible. I get a muffuletta everywhere that sells them and this was by far the worst I've ever had. I couldn't even eat it, but still got charged full price for it. I also order 2 beers a got charge for 3 and when I told the waitress she cocked her head to the side and asked in a snide kind of way if I'd like a refund, and I said of course, she came back with my change and slammed it down on the table, and said hope you have a good night but not in a nice tone. I give this restaurant a D- and the reason not an F is because my friend got the red beans and said they were alright. Our servers name was Kaylee, I highly recommend having her wait on you! She was insanely friendly, gave a "we've been friends for ages" vibe and it was perfect for me and my mom. The food was awesome! We got the nachos as an app(8/10) with chicken, 1lb shrimp boil (10/10), and their Crawfish Mac n cheese with the works. I visited BeauJax Crafthouse twice when I was in Shreveport. I ordered the hibachi bowl and blackened shrimp po boy both times. The food was fantastic, the service was great and the atmosphere was fun. If you're looking for basic Cajun food and some good craft beers, this is the place to go. We took a day trip to Shreveport for our son's lacrosse game and stayed for dinner before heading home to Dallas. After searching and reading reviews, we decided to try BeauxJax. Atmosphere was upbeat, with a larger bar area and several small two and four person tables. Aged brick and mortar walls, light wood-like tables, and concrete floors made for an appealing backdrop. Waitress was cute and friendly, attempting to teach us some Louisiana terminology for a crawfish boil. We ordered a cup of Etouffee and Gumbeaux to start. The shrimp in the Etouffee was tasty, but the sauce was good, but not amazing. Pretty ok. My husband's Gumbeaux had a more interesting flavor, but was primarily liquid and rice. There were a few teeny tiny pieces of chicken in the mix. We both ordered the shrimp boil, 1/2 pound for me and 1lb for my husband. His looked pretty good. Mine had 12 medium shrimp, sprinkled with a little bit of seasoning, two golf ball sized new potatoes and one 3" piece of corn. I was underwhelmed, especially since it was $12.99. "Oh well," I thought. The shrimp had good flavor, but not outstanding. Potatoes were plain and my husband's corn was literally still frozen in the middle. He asked for another and the waitress smiled, apologized and brought another piece of corn, quickly putting it in the table and rushing away. Kind of weird, we thought. Guess she was embarrassed or in a hurry, maybe. We ate, enjoyed each other's company, choosing to have a good time, and trying our best to ignore the slamming door going in and out to the patio next to our table. They really need a gentle self closer on that door. SLAM, SLAM, SLAM! Kind of irritating. But again, we chose to make the best of the experience. When we got the bill, I noticed all of the prices were higher than what the menu posted. So, I took a pic of the menu on the way out to confirm. Sure enough, we paid about $2.00 more for our food than what was listed. Not enough to break the bank, but kind of sneaky of them, we think. They seemed to have a good variety on the menu so we decided to give it a go. Now I'm in my hotel room and still hungry because it was barely edible. Blackened shrimp and catfish were neither blackened nor cooked well. Po boy bread was dry and flavorless. Cole slaw tasted like nothing. Etoufee tasted like cafeteria rice and gravy with some spices thrown in. Caesar side salad was meh. Simply put - Not good. A place with craft house in the name had a most boring beer list. We were in the area and decided to try BeauxJax for lunch, as it's unlike anything we have in our East Texas community. I was excited to hear that the po boys come on Gambino's French bread. Husband had a shrimp po boy with shrimp etoufee, and I had the boudin po boy with red beans and rice. I didn't try his food, but he said I definitely had the better lunch experience! We were seated quickly, and the food was delivered quickly, as well. The servers were friendly, if a little inattentive after we ordered. My husband wanted to order a drink, but the waitress didn't return until we were almost done eating. Driving through the town and took a chance. Went on a foodie trip to NOLA and surprisingly this place and another spot in Baton Rouge topped my list. The food was so good here and fair priced that I am planning to come back next month to this town just for this place. The owner told me about live free concerts he throws and attached to an ice creme shop/axe throwing then you have yourself a pretty dang good time. Recommend highly. read more

We moved tables because the original one was sticky and we let the waitress know. At no time did anyone ever clean it though. I thought that was weird since she had sprayed other tables around it, but whatever. Not my monkeys.... We decided to go with the ever popular Yelp choice of chicken salad for the appetizer. I got a cup of étouffée because I read the gumbo wasn't made with roux, and I got a Mac n cheese dish with crawfish. Manchild went with a half of steak poboy and bourbon chicken bowl. The chicken salad came out with our food, which sucked. How would you like it if I came out completely naked before I did my extra special dance foreplay show (it's just me dancing to "I'm too sexy")? See? Learn how to pace an order guys. Stop thinking about naked already pervs. The chicken salad was just ok. It wasn't anything memorable honestly. My issues, ordered the sausage and cheese platter, which came in a tiny tray with no crackers....who serves that without crackers. Sausage was good. I ordered the grilled shrimp pot boy. Nice size with 8 salad sized very lightly grilled shrimp. It was an embarrassing amount, should have been 3 times as many. It came with a bag of chips. No not fries or even house chips...a bag. Our drinks at a sit down restaurant we're in plastic glasses. Let's just say no one left stuffed. The service was very very good. The restaurant looked pretty cool also. Menu was very limited. They had an extensive drink menu, the food menu was a bit limited. The food was okay, but nothing to write home about. This was my first visit to Shreveport, so I thought I'd try some Cajun food at a local brewpub. 1) the food was fine. Not amazing but still tasty. 2) the beer was WAY WAY WAY overpriced. $9 for a GLASS of beer! I'm glad I didn't ask for a second. That's almost airport prices.... 10/10 would recommend to a friend. My husband and I love this place. The atmosphere inside and people are great. The food is solid. Now that the back is up and running with frequent entertainers, we have come more. I like that you can get a beer here or food but also order from the other places in the strip in the back. We brought my parents-in-law here when they visiting from out of town. They wanted some local food and not a chain. This more than met their expectations. We will always bring out of towners here.
