I went when they were closing but they managed to pull off wings. I asked people around town and they told me to come here for the wings. I tried it and saw that it was good. I am not from here. But I've been here long enough to know how most restaurants are in the area. This place is something I would have expected in Dallas. The ambiance is country western. With fun decor of animals and country singers. The bar is very busy on Friday and full of fun people. Food: got the famous chicken fried steak and it was fantastic. Freshly cooked and crispy fried breading. The gravy is a lil spicy with jalapeños but not too much. Fresh green beans perfectly cooked with a soft snap in every bite. Perfect size for a big appetite. She was taking care of another African American and addressed the concern only to be lied to as there was no waiting list until we arrived for a party of 6. This is my second visit to Tejas and I've enjoyed it both time. I do find it a bit pricey, but we'll get into that. I went with a big group of people so that I could try a little bit of everything. Let's start with appetizers. The brisket nachos are PHENOMENAL! But don't trust me, try it for yourself. The cheese fries are ok, but not the greatest. I wish the fries were thicker and maybe had some chili on them to make them less dry. The queso with chorizo is prettty flavorful. Now for the main dish, skip the wings. I've had better, a lot better actually. And $8 for 6 wings just seems pricey to me for mediocre wings. Also I like plain ranch and all they have is chipotle ranch. The Tejas burger is a solid win! If burgers aren't your jam then try the shrimp and grits or chicken fried steak. All were really yummy. And don't skip out on happy hour. They have some great drinks. Located in town oaks square with baskin Robbins, mc Donald's, dillas and oyster bar, Tejas was a backup when we couldn't get seated at some other local eateries around there. We loved their brunch when we finally got to try it and since then it became the brunch place of our top choice! My favorite is their chicken and pancake, and my husband gets the brunch burger or the bowl. Everything is really cheap for what you get and the service is usually great too!
