I have only been here a couple of times, but the staff is always so kind and courteous. The food comes out very quickly. One of my favorite dishes so far is the alligator sausage, whether as an appetizer or sandwich. It's a great place to go for more of the type of local, home cooked type of meal. It has the boudin, alligator sausage, po boys, gumbo, etc. The staff have been very accommodating to my daughter who basically would only eat rice or crackers there, as well. My only critique would be I have another daughter who just can't find anything she would eat there, unfortunately. Maybe a couple of additional things for kids to eat would be nice. For starters, if you're going in with small kids, look forward to being put in the corner where they're opening & closing the back door so y'all can be cold. The boudin & crackers was about the only thing that was worth getting. I found this place on Yelp last minute, but idk how it has so many good reviews. This "Cajun" food is not nearly as good as Fontenots in Caldwell parish, where true Cajuns own it. Our waitress wasn't great. Had to ask her for things several times & she kept up with the people around us a little better that didn't have kids. Just a little aggravating. Came in with high hopes of the food being good but it was alright. Probably wouldn't go back honestly. read more

We found this place when Maps was saying they were closed. We were looking for our second choice but didn't understand the directions. So glad that we misunderstood! We were promptly seated. Our waiter was very engaging and informative. I had the half muffaletta with red beans. My husband had jambalaya. Neither of us were disappointed and thought our dish was great! Looked on Yelp to find places we hadn't been to in the area. This place was close to the Horseshoe (where we were staying). I can now say it's one of my favorite 2 places for Cajun food in this area. Wife and I had already tried frozen pirough weeks prior and were very disappointed in the entire experience but we still decided to come back and try beauxjax this past weekend . needless to say we will not be back . We were told that outside tables were first come first serve so we waited for one to open up, we went ahead and sat down due to not wanting to lose the table but didn't see a waitress for another 30 minutes or so. Waitress was very rude and unappealing to say the least. Drinks took just as long as our wait, and food was very poor quality for the price. I like the energy of this place, the costumers and servers are always very respectful, I've never seen any complaints about the atmosphere. I will say though, the food isn't the best. it's ok good and if your really hungry it will fill you up, I'm sure you can go with something simple that can't be messed up. I got a New Orleans and a Philly Po boy last time I went, I've also had the bowled shrimp Cajun Chicken Bowl Loaded Mac and the cheesecake. We chose this restaurant based off of the beers on tap and their mac n cheese photos from yelp! Came in and a kind gentleman from the bar greeted us then proceeded to seat the two of us immediately. There's plenty of bar seating, and table seating indoors and outdoors. Their menu is really simple - I appreciate simple menus! Wanted to try a po-boy for my first time so I ordered the Geno's Boudin po-boy with a side of Gumbeaux. They have a condiments bar with LOTS of hot sauce varieties and veggies, pickles, etc to top into the Po-Boy. The jalepenos they have are so addicting to eat alone! Their gumbo is good as well! DISCLAIMER: I'm not sure what the gumbo standards are out here but I'll definitely order it again as a side when I come back to Bossier. My husband ordered the Crawfish Pepperjax Mac n Cheese with a side of The Works (sausage, chicken, shrimp). Unfortunately, the kitchen only added shrimp into the dish and forgot the sausage and chicken. Maybe an order mix up? It was presented beautifully and before we could catch our waitress to let her know about the mess up - the kind man who seated us came out with a side bowl of sausage and chicken. This dish itself was surprisingly fulfilling. We also ordered local? beers to try out. Flying Tiger Heroic Hops and Parish Ghost in the Machine. Both decent beers. The pieces were extremely reasonable, and the service was fast and friendly. Overall, if I was in the area again I would 100% go back, or recommend to a friend.
