Beavertails is a small dessert establishment located in the tourist trap of Clifton Hill. It's only a counter where you order your dessert and leave. There's a bench right in front of it, but otherwise, there's no seating. The cashier told me that #1 (cinnamon & sugar), #2 (chocolate hazelnut), and #8 (banana chocolate) are their most popular flavors. I ordered the chocolate hazelnut, and it came with powdered sugar on top. It's good stuff! The desserts are pretty big, but dough is nice and light so you don't feel disgusting after eating the whole thing! It's good but nothing to rave about. However, if you're in the area and craving something sweet, check it out. read more

Cashier says the most popular are the banana/hazelnut, strawberry cheesecake and the cinnamon. Each ranges from 6 CAD to 8 CAD. They have other varieties to include Oreo, Reeses, and even drinks like lemonade and smoothies. If you do a combo of BeaverTail and a drink you save about 1 CAD. Tried banana/hazelnut and the bread is so warm, crispy and fluffy! It's almost like a dessert pizza with wheat bread. Wish I could've tried the strawberry cheesecake: would definitely come back. Open late, went around 9pm and short wait around 5-10 mins for line and food. read more

Heard about this place while wandering around the local shops and decided to stop for a snack. These are an interesting concept and we have nothing like this in the US. I think the closest thing I could compare a beavertail to is funnel cake and that comparison doesnt do it justice. We tried the banana with nutella and pecan pie. They were delicious and easy to eat especially since the edges are puffy making it a perfect vehicle for your ooey gooey toppings that are nestled on the inside of the pastry. Definately going to stop by one more time before leaving. read more

A tasty treat at the end of a long day in Niagara Falls. We grabbed a cinnamon and sugar beaver tail and enjoyed the sweet treat with a smoothie too. I really wish I had tried the hazelnut one - but I was trying to be good. I would definitely come back and enjoy the fried dough goodness shaped like a beaver's tail! My boyfriend and I aren't from around here and where we live we don't have access to beaver tails anywhere. This was one of the things we definitely came down for and let me tell you 100% worth it! I got the classic beaver tail and my boyfriend got the avalanche, they were AMAZING! it was super fast service for it being so busy! If your thinking about going for one.... DO IT!!!!! read more

I've only had BeaverTails twice in my life and both occasions were incredible. This location in Niagara Falls is very tiny on a small street next to Burger King. There was no line when my boyfriend and I stopped by on a late night. The worker happily took our order and within minutes we had our warm Avalanche BeaverTail ready to be demolished. The dessert is amazing. The dough is perfectly fried with a great balance between the topping flavors and the dough. I will admit, the dessert is extremely sweet and sugary, but it hits all the right taste buds. If you are not a huge fan of sweets then I would recommend going for the simple cinnamon & sugar flavor. What I love about this sweet treat is that it is a Canadian gem. I've tried desserts throughout the United States and BeaverTails are unlike no other. When in Canada you have to come try one of the legendary "beaver tails". Essentially it's fried dough with lots of yummy sugar toppings !! I love the variety of choices you can add to the beaver tail. I truly enjoyed coming to eat here and I would highly recommend others to come and try it ! OH. EM. GEE. You hear stories of amazing desserts but this was absolute heaven. I ordered the maple and it didn't disappoint. It's kind of a cross between a donut and a funnel cake. Be prepared to get a little messy though! For 7CAD, and to experience something truly Canadian, I recommend hitting up this spot. Unfortunately i couldn't wait to dive in so no photos, but there are several options and those around me who ordered different couldn't complain about any of the options! read more

Crazyyyy good. If you're craving sweets or have a sweet tooth, this is the place for you! I got the apple cinnamon, the cheesecake one, and the chocolate and banana. All super delicious! It was so light and fluffy and massive as well. Being in a touristy area, I guess the $6.20 was worth it. They have 4+ different "Vegan Option Available" items, where they basically exclude whatever might have dairy/egg in it (chocolate sauce), and serve it right up. It's hot and fresh, smells amazing, and tastes awesome. It reminds me of carnival food in a way, the fried bread probably, so it's a walking food (if you're careful). It can be messy, and is wild unhealthy, but it tastes incredible. I recommend both the Oreo one and the Pecan Pie one (if you like maple-pecan type pastries). Mine were both Vegan, so I'm sure the original version tastes good too. read more

But so yummy, I got the one with nutella and then i wen back for another one with nutella and banana, I think I could eat this every day!!! We'd had Beaver Tails before. In a dream. Somewhere. We couldn't remember when, what, or where. But we knew they were good. And so, seeing them here, we bought some. There were four of us, and thinking two would be enough, I ordered three. Apple Cinnamon, Avalanche (toffee cheesecake), and Triple Trip (peanut butter chocolate). All three were delicious and generously topped. The Apple Cinnamon may have been the closest to disappointing, tasting like canned apple pie filling with some added cinnamon. But, the warm and fresh tail went a long way to excusing that failing. If I had a suggestion or complaint, it would be that the paper gets all gloopy and you look like a fool trying to lick it off. The box in the pictures - I don't know if you have to ask for it or what, would be a better distribution method (although, I suppose they would pass the added cost of that to the consumer...). read more

Philthy Philly's was one of them. This eatery is in Clarkson, just south of the GO station. Clarkson is growing on me as a neighbourhood. It is roughly twenty minutes away from my workplace, so it's quite a distance from my home. I drove over here after work on evening. I pulled into this plaza, which has a bunch of stores that I want to check out when I'm back. I parked and walked in. There is plenty of parking. There was one person placing an order. It was enough time for me to review the menu and figure out what I wanted to get. Philthy Philly's has recently introduced Broad Street burgers to its menu. I love a good burger, but I was craving a cheesesteak more. I was pleasantly surprised to see the Grow-Op burger, which is a veggie burger. The person helping me with my Groupon was helpful and cool. The redemption was straightforward. I ordered a regular cheesesteak. I got steak, with green peppers, onions, mushrooms, swiss cheese, and apple butter mesquite sauce. I also got a Phil-sized bacon poutine and a Diet Coke. I got my Diet Coke and waited for my order at a table. It gave me time to observe the artwork around me. My order was ready. I picked it up and thanked the guy. I was ready to chow down. I was hungry! The bacon poutine is the best at this Philthy Phil's. The bacon was crisp. The gravy was perfect, melting all the cheese curds into the perfect cheese pull with every fork helping. One word: fantastic! My cheesesteak was so good. It was my first time trying the apple butter mesquite sauce. It has so many complex layers of flavour. I loved that it was almost different with each bite. Yum! This place has a single women's washroom, which was spacious and clean. I saw two guys go into the men's, so I can't comment on that and don't want to speculate! I thanked the staff here when I left. It's my favourite Philthy Phil's so far in my cheesesteak journey within and around the GTA. (304)

It was so good, I still talk about it. Service was fine, the young lady who helped us walked us through a couple of the poutines. Place is small but it was super clean. The portions are huge and the flavors were really good. The food was fresh and prepared well. Felt it was a little overpriced for the amount of chicken added. Most of the base is fries and just the top is chicken cut to very small pieces. The cauliflower one only had like 4 florets. The ambiance matches the vibes of what Smokes wants to represent. There's rock music playing in the background and it's a nice casual spot. The service is quick and the workers were nice.

The workers serving the ice cream inside were a lot nicer though they didn't really seem to understand how to make some of the orders. It was weird. I'm glad we got to try it but I recommend going somewhere else for a sweet treat.
