The food was amazing at Ike's!! We were visiting LA and went to the El Segundo location and were very impressed with the bread and generous portions. I got the Hunter Pence on their recommended Dutch bread (though I generally favor French, I'm glad I went with their rec!) and was leery about the combo of sauces (honey mustard + BBQ), but it was epically good and I'd absolutely go back and order it again. My hubby got the sandwich with cheesesteak and loved the bread though was less impressed with the quality of the steak...said he'd return again buy order something different next time. I remember how popular Ike's was when I lived in NorCal, so decided to grab lunch here since I was in the area. It was empty on a Friday afternoon, so I was able to order and get my sandwich quickly. I ordered the most popular, Ménage A Trois ($14.50) on Dutch bread. Ike's is known for their Dutch bread, so this is a must! Of course, every sandwich also comes with a caramel apple lollipop. I ordered onion rings which was posted for $3.50 and they charged me $4.94. I guess charging me for the avocado could be charged to not knowing how to manipulate the register for an item on the side. This place has to be downgraded based on my last 3 experiences here. I don't think I'll be returning anymore. Each of those three times I went during lunch time. This last time really made me feel that I won't regret not returning. I placed an online order that it said it would take 30 minutes. I got there during my time for pickup and it wasn't ready. It took an additional 15 minutes and they didn't even bother calling out names. While waiting, there were so many others who were livid, clearly frustrated about the wait as well. Why do my food moods have to be so complicated! I knew I wanted a sandwich, but it was a battle between the Hollywould's SF cheesesteak or Amuna's Tuna. I turned to Hubbers to make the decision for me, and without hesitation, he strongly suggested the tuna. After running a quick errand, I found myself ordering the very thing Hubbers suggested "No cheese on world famous dutch crunch." He asked if I wanted to upgrade i to a combo, but I wasn't that hungry "Just the sandwich, please." Took it to go, back to work in no time and multi-tasked by eating and working at the same time. This is one generous sandwich. I knew immediately upon unwrapping this tuna goodness that there was no way I was going to finish it. I re-wrapped a half immediately, saving it for a 2nd meal. I really like the dutch crunch (I've had it with the Paul Reubens before) and I'm so glad I had it this time with the tuna. It really is well made. The tuna is a good blend of fish and seasoning. They found a way not to make it too fishy so it wasn't overwhelming by any means. However, I felt it could use a bit more umph - I can't quite put my finger on it - but on a personal preference, I might have tweaked it a bit more on the seasoning department. The tomato added to the texture, but nothing more. FOOD: 4. Good, but not great. Plenty of room for improvement. The dutch crunch is a saving grace, for sure. SERVICE: 4. I haven't been to Ike's in a minute so it was nice to check this place out again. From what I remember, the menu is pretty overwhelming and they made tons of additions to the menu over the years. If it's your first time, I would take a minute or five to really examine the menu in depth. If you're coming during lunch time, I would allocate at least 30 minutes to order and get your sandwich.... it gets backed up! I don't know if it's because of a staffing shortage but it took forever to get my sandwich. I got the Matt Cain sandwich and I really enjoyed it. The bread was terrific and the sandwich was loaded with roast beef, salami and turkey. I loved the sauce too. Ike's has great sandwiches, no doubt. When I'm in SoCal and over Jersey Mike's or Jimmy John's, Ike's is a fine alternative. They definitely give me Quizno's vibes with their warm toasty dutch crunch bread, but it certainly feels a bit more upscale in a way. On weekdays at lunch, Ike's usually has a few patrons, but ordering is nice and quick. It's clean and cool inside with plenty of seating, and there's patio seating to eat with a pup as well. My go-to is the Steph Curry -- which sucks as a Laker fan -- and includes a heaping pile of turkey, provolone, yellow BBQ, their signature dirty sauce, lettuce, and tomato. Everything is made fresh so it does take some time but worth it in the end. The regular size feels like an absolute brick in your hand. It makes for a heavy lunch, or you can save a half for the next day. All the ingredients feel super fresh and tasty and compliment well. They also have chips, cookies, and other add on options available. $15+ for a sandwich is kinda crazy to me, but it is 2022 and the quality feels justified. There's a ton of options on the menu from the breads to the sauces to the meats (or lack thereof) so there's surely something for everyone. read more

Let me tell you these two dudes may be the hardest working dudes in El Segundo as they made sandwich after sandwich trying to meet a very large amount of orders. On top of that they were trying to make it right by giving out coupons for $3 for those who were waiting. We finally get our food and my dining companion and I decided to split a We're Just Friends and the local vegan exclusive A Sandwich Called Quest. That's when things got extra odd. Turns out they gave us the wrong sandwich Before we could even open our food they brought us the Friends as we had the women next to us Jaymee Sirewich. We tried to give it to her but they said they would make her a new one. Kinda glad they did because it finally happened. I found an Ike's Sandwich I didn't really like. I was open to something new and yeah Orange flavor on a sandwich isn't for me so We're Just Friends will be exactly that. I love Ikes. I went here on Super Bowl day, and bought the Mike's meatless Mariana sub. Thus when I arrived from Vegas, and a pit stop here in LA, I ordered the same sub again. It's Vegan, to a degree. I say this because it comes with pepper jack cheese that is not vegan. I never understand why some many restaurants and even at supermarkets will have a plant based food product, with dairy cheese. (Side note: I love the variety of Ike's sandwiches overall. They're also unique and fun in their names too!) For my sandwich I chose the James and The Giant Peach. This vegetarian sandwich comes with vegan fried chicken, Ike's yellow bbq sauce, Ike's signature dirty sauce and cheddar. When I first bit into this sandwich; it was definitely love at first bite. It's no wonder this place is called Love and Sandwiches! I loved the flavors that were packed into this sandwich. Their signature dirty sauce along with the yellow bbq sauce just mixed together to give the perfect, saucy sandwich. It was fantastic on top of the tender vegan fried chicken.
