Seriously the best experience I have ever had with a plumber. I called at 8:15, really nice and knowledgeable woman on the phone. Jim and Elijah arrived by 9:30 on a busy Monday. First they looked at my leaking water heater; background, I had already had an $1850 bid and a $2000 bid to replace the unit. Their bid: $1500. But that's not the best part. They started looking the unit over and then said - how about we fix this leaking hot line and see if that corrects the problem before we go replacing the whole thing. $150 for the service call and the line replacement (new high quality stainless steel line that won't corrode) and we are back in business! Probably saved (or at least delayed for a few years) spending the replacement money, and anyway I definitely saved $350 if and when the replacement is needed. This crew is professional and fast. My 1920s home is on non-traditional well/pump and septic. Old galvanized plumbing needed a complete repipe & water heater. They provided a proposal with options and got me on schedule right away. They even worked with me to keep my two big dogs safe and out of the way during construction. When professional trucks and the crew showed up I expected a mess and day or two without full access to water, but I was wrong! Absolutely wonderful company and staff! If we were staying in Simi Valley, we wouldn't use anyone else for plumbing. We are moving out of state. During the home inspection, the inspector identified the water heater was installed incorrectly and needed to be fixed. Beck's sent Jim the owner the same day. Beck's is officially my go-to plumber. We bought our house in October and the seller mentioned slight back up issues with the main sewer line. A sewer inspection gave us the all clear, but come March, we had sewage backing up into our tubs. Beck's came highly recommended and they came out first thing the next morning and snaked the drain and recommended putting in a cleanout in the future so they could do a proper inspection with a camera to find out the real problem. Sure enough, 1 week ago things started backing up again. They broke ground Monday to install the cleanouts and what we thought was going to be a normal size job turned into the sewer line replacement from hell - the pipe was crumbling. Jim and his team were out here from dawn to dusk everyday. From the beginning, Jim gave us detailed and professional advice and helped us understand the variables that would affect cost and functionality and what type of material the home had. After years of being overcharged and subpar service, we were in the market for a new plumber. We were reffered to Becks Plumbing by a friend. Very impressed with Becks Plumbing. The came out immediately to fix a leaking bathroom faucet and a clogged patio drain. Mr. Brock replaced both faucet lines in bathroom, which were old. The roots in the drain were so bad, they couldn't be removed, but they diligently tried. It was suggested I need to replace drain pipe. I had scheduled an appointment with another plumber a week in advance and took time off work to deal with multiple plumbing issues and the guy didn't show, answer his phone or return my texts to get a status. So since I already took the day off I figured I'd try to find another plumber to come out to do the work. I found Beck's Plumbing on Yelp and based on the reviews I gave them a call to see if they could possibly come out. Not only were they able to come out, they showed up twenty minutes later! All work was completed in a timely and efficient manner for a fair amount, even though one issue snowballed into a larger problem (due to old original piping). Beck's Plumbing is the most professional, reasonably priced and honest plumbing company out there and I highly recommend them to anyone. I'm new to the area and needed a plumber to fix a leak under the kitchen sink. I called a plumber with good Yelp reviews but had a bad experience with him. As soon as he went under the sink a "new" leak mysteriously appeared and he proceeded to tell me how bad the problem was and that my house was in danger of flooding if he didn't fix it right away. I read about Beck's in a Simi Valley forum when we were in need of a reliable plumber. I went to Yelp to check them out and saw so much positive feedback that I had to call them. We were using another local company and weren't completely satisfied with them. They were pretty pricey. They happened to be the ones that our realtor set up for part of our inspection when we bought our house. So I switched to Beck's when we had a leaky kitchen faucet and a high pitch noise coming from some of our pipes. Elijah showed up right on time and fixed the faucet. The cartridge had to be tightened. He was here about forty minutes. He also checked our water pressure. Elijah didn't even charge me for the visit. Then Jim came out a month or so later because we need to replace our toilet soon. He answered all my questions and sealed up the opening where the shower head comes out of the wall. We had a pipe leaking under the slab in our 45 year old house, so it was time to search for a local plumber to fix the problem. Online searching and family/friend recommendations yielded a lot of different names. We ended up going with a relative's recommendation of Jim Beck of Beck's Plumbing... and we're very happy with that decision. Prompt, honest, fair price, quality work, hard working, good guy... all what you hope your plumber choice will be, and definitely what was delivered by Jim! Our pipe leak required capping off the water supply to the leaky pipe under the slab and rerouting the water supply through a new exposed pipe. Though it was a large expense we would have preferred not to have incurred, Jim charged a very fair price for the all-day job performed. Jim Beck does great work at a fair price. Not too long again, I called him because I had been experiencing a mysterious water-hammer problem that would occasionally cause the pipes to shake violently in my home (sounded similar to a jack hammer - no exaggeration). Long story short, less than 30 minutes after my initial call to him, he came to my house to assess the problem, made his diagnosis in about 15 minutes, then made the repairs about two days later. I was very pleased with his workmanship, and respect for my home. He was kind, patient, prompt, and got the job done as agreed to: on time and on budget. I would gladly call him again for any future plumbing problem/project, and would highly recommend Jim for any of your plumbing needs. read more

FYI, Clarissa told me on the phone they charge $95 an hour plus materials, and the minimum charge for a house call is $95. When the plumbers arrived, Jim had his son Jeremy in tow, who is basically his apprentice. Jim informed me since there were 2 of them working, he'd have to charge me $135 an hour, not $95, plus materials. He assured me that in the long run that would be cheaper than 1 guy at $95. Jim inspected my troublesome toilet, on which I had previously changed the flapper valve without curing the problem: every 2 minutes the water level in the tank would drop 1/3 of an inch, causing the tank to keep refilling itself every 2 minutes, 24/7. He advised me that the flush tube was cracked, causing a slow water leakage from inside the tank to the drain pipe, so that the tank kept refilling. Jim asked Jeremy to use some tools to unbolt the toilet tank from the toilet bowl. While Jeremy was working on this, Jim rushed off to buy a complete set of hardware for the toilet tank. When Jim came back, Jeremy told him the bolts were too rusted to remove the toilet tank, so Jim used a hacksaw to cut the rusty bolts so the tank could be separated from the toilet bowl. Then he removed all the old hardware inside and outside the tank and replaced it all with what he had bought: a Flushmaster, a new flush tube Douglas Valve, a new drain pipe and flapper, and new bolts to attach the toilet tank to the toilet bowl. Once the problem toilet had been repaired, he had a look at the other 2 toilets in the house, and changed the flapper on one of them. For the other one, he recommended that I change the flush valve with a new Flushmaster in the near future, before it becomes a problem. At the end of the 1-hour visit, Jim charged me $95 in labor (not the $135 he first mentioned) and $30 for the materials, for a total charge of $125. I'm happy the problem toilet was fixed. I'm also wondering why they wouldn't have all the necessary parts to replace all the hardware inside a tract house toilet tank on their truck, instead of needing to run to a store to buy it. The only justification I can see to having 2 guys would be so one could run to the store while the other one disassembled the toilet. In this case, the apprentice was not able to disassemble it himself, and the run to the store would have been unnecessary had the plumber been prepared with all commonly needed toilet repair parts on the truck. I can see the value to Jim to train up his son on how to do plumbing, but I'm glad he only charged me $95 for labor, not $135, in this particular situation. If I had multiple separate plumbing issues in different parts of the house to solve at once, that's when the job could be completed faster and for less money for $135/hour compared to $95/hour, but that was not really the case today. read more
