Jim Beck was amazing. We called up, no real emergency but they had an opening. Arrived within 30 minutes. Our washing machine was backing up into our kitchen sink for quite sometime. Well, the 60 year old house couldn't be fixed with his 'snake'. He found us another company with a high powered Jetter. He didn't even charge us, since he said he wasn't able to fix the problem. I had Beck's Plumbing Employee come out for a emergency job, he was here in 1 hour, fix it right and the cost was more than fair. I am a tradesman for 25 years, I know good workers when I see them and the cost was $125 only. Other plumbers would have charged $200 plus, because there was soldering involved. I received a frantic call from my tenant one late afternoon a few weeks ago, stating that the water heater was gushing water all over the garage floor, she needed to get ready for work, and had to take a cold shower. Thinking there was little chance at 4 in the afternoon to do anything about it right away, I began looking on Yelp for a plumber to possibly come out the next day. The first name on Yelp's list was Jim Beck, so I gave him a call. Jim appreciated the urgency of the situation (she has small kids too) and was at my property withing 20 minutes. By the time I got off work at 5:30, he had replaced the water heater, and now had moved on to helping the tenant with some other "issues" in the house that had been neglected! Jim fixed a leaking shower valve, and only charged me for the parts since he was "there already" and the water heater went in so smoothly. Truly amazing! I needed my water heater strapped down for a mortgage appraisal. Jim was given the message and he called me to ask if I had time for him to stop by and give me an estimate now. So, he came by looked at how the heater was sitting in the enclosure and said that if the screw driver would fit, he could do it right now. Well, it did and he did!!! I know that it was not the easiest thing that he has done, but in no time at all he had my water heater all strapped up AND saved me the cost of emptying the heater, moving the heater, applying the straps, move it back and wait to fill it up! I called Jim on a Thursday to clear out an area drain and its run to the street. I wasn't going to be home until Tuesday which would have been fine with me but the forecast was for rain over the weekend and Jim didn't want to let it go that long. Jim and his family did a great job addressing all of our plumbing issues. They were very professional, arrived on time and we're extremely concerned about keeping us informed during the process. We originally had asked them to come in and check our pipes, because we are re landscaping the front yard. We have a large tree, close to the house and driveway and wanted to make sure the roots hadn't penetrated the pipe system. Unfortunately, they did. Jim was able to protect the driveway, drill a small opening in the garage floor and dig through the front yard 7 feet. We live in an area which restricts contractors by time, this made it more difficult for Jim, however he was able to adjust his schedule and get the job done quickly and efficiently. This family-owned company is a class act. Jeremy came on time (early even!) for my appointment to have two plumbing issues fixed. There was some miscommunication over being charged by the hour or by the job and we resolved it amicably. He fixed both issues quickly; saving me hundreds of dollars in running a new water line a previous landscaper had bypassed/cut off. Instead he found a capped-off secondary line behind a shed that just needed a new valve installed. When going to write up my bill he let me know that since this was my first time using them and since there was a miscommunication about price, and they wanted a happy customer, the bill was on them this time. I insisted paying for the parts and labor but he firmly and happily declined. This company went above and beyond to ensure my happiness as a customer. They have gained a life-long customer. I was very happy with my service with "Becks Plumbing", they are a family owned company that still has good old fashioned manners and a family feel to them. I had a problem with low flow out of my Water heater. Customer service sent me a cold-side dip tube but I couldn't remove the existing one. I called Beck's plumbing, on a Sunday, and Jim answered the phone. I explained the problem and Jim said he could come out right away (on Sunday) or whenever was convenient. I scheduled an appointment the next day and he arrived promptly at 5:00. He replaced the DIp tube and ensured the problem was fixed by checking the multiple faucets. He didn't even charge me for the full service call as he indicated I pretty much diagnosed the problem and had the replacement parts. Jim was prompt, courteous, and I highly recommend him. read more

Absolute best service we have ever had. After our downstairs bathroom overflowed multiple times, we called another very popular plumbing service in our area. After very minimal trouble shooting, this other company told us our backwater valve needed to be replaced. They quoted is $6,300 and said it would take two days to dig up our front yard. We decided to get a second opinion and called Beck's Plumbing. The owner and another employee stopped by that same day after hours and fixed the problem in 5 minutes, FOR FREE! They were so honest and trustworthy! We are having them come back to fix our shower next month. We will never use another plumbing service!!! read more

We recently had a slab leak (hot water line to kitchen sink) and called our insurance company to find out how this would work as we never have had to file a claim. They sent out American Leak Detectors to find the leak and fix the leak. Since they were coming on a Friday they authorized them to work over the weekend (apparently a 50% increase). The person they sent said he found the leak and also found a hot water that could be used to reroute the line. The guy they sent out had no intention of working over the weekend and left without providing an estimate. We called other plumbers on Saturday as we saw no reason to work with American Leak Detectors when they had no intention of working with us. We contacted James at Becks Plumbing and he came to our house a couple hours after we spoke to him. He seemed more professional than the other plumber who we also had come out to give us an estimate. We told James we wanted to work with him and he indicated that he could come out Tuesday morning and this would be fixed the same day. His estimate contained two prices one for the re-route from the other side of the kitchen where (American Leak Detector said the hot water line was) and direct access to get into the slab and fix the leak under the sink. We contacted the insurance company on Monday and were told the re-route wouldn't be covered even though this was far cheaper to the insurance company. On Tuesday James showed up with the expectation of doing a reroute (we told him he could leave his jack hammer at home), but after cutting 2 holes in the wall where American Leak Detectors indicated a Hot line existed they could only find a cold water manifold for the fridge. He indicated that he would like to call the company he normally works with PINPOINT Leak Detectors and these guys not only found the leak, they determined that the hot water line ran first to the sink and that the other guys missed the mark by over 5 feet. They also found post tension cables in out slab and marked those out. This was important as James indicated that if these are hit when jack hammering the slab they will snap and cause serious damage to the slab, house, and potentially him. While it would have been easier to access the pipe in the kitchen floor vs under the sink, he spared our new travertine floors from damage and cut out the bottom of the kitchen cabinet and jack hammered under the sink. He also documented the water damage in the wall, which was important in dealing with the insurance company afterwards. In the end we realized it was a good thing we went with Becks Plumbing as the other guys couldn't find the hot water line and likely couldn't have fixed it. In summary here is what we learned: 1) Do not use American Leak Detector, paid $300 for misinformation. 2) Do use PINPoint Leak detector, paid $370 but they accurately found the leak, hot water line, and post tension cables. 3) Do use Becks Plumbing or at least get an estimate from them. 4) Don't rely on the insurance company to point you to the best contractors. I hope this helps you if you are in a similar situation and just want your leak fixed. FYI expect this process to take a few days to get resolved as once the plumber leaves you have water but cabinets, flooring, ect to fix. While your insurance company will tell you that you have the right to fix this before they have decided what they will pay, you may not get enough to actually cover the damage. We spoke with the insurance company about this and they said they would work with the contractor we selected to cover it, but this wouldn't happen if you hired them, paid them, and then had to deal with the insurance company after. Our insurance company was fair, but we had to wait about a week to find out what they would pay to repair the damaged cabinets. GOOD LUCK... read more

First, let me preface this by saying it has been difficult for me to find reliable services in Simi Valley since I moved here 6 years ago. So I doubly appreciate the prompt, courteous and professional service I received from Beck's Plumbing this past week. I recently had my kitchen countertops replaced with granite. I needed to find a plumber to unhook my kitchen plumbing and then re-hook my new sink and faucet after the new counters were installed. I left one detailed voicemail with Beck's and the promptly called me back and offered to come right over and give me an estimate on the job. Once at the house, I was given a fair estimate for the work (plus a small leak in a pipe that perfectly coincided with his visit) and he was able to do the unhooking and leak repair that day. As promised, they were back the day after the countertop installation to reinstall my plumbing, sink and faucet. My kitchen looks fabulous and it was a stress-free project thanks in part to Beck's plumbing. I'm definitely keeping their number on hand for our next project (or leak).
