Bedard Automotive What can I say? I am a graduate mechanical engineer, worked 35 years on nuclear submarines, taught mechanical engineering as CSUF for 15 years and a car guy. I've worked on my own cars extensively for 65 years and go to Bedard's shop only when I'm stumped or in over my head. Very infrequently do I take a car in for any kind of service or repair but when I do it is not an easy diagnosis or problem to solve. Bedard's seems to thrive on difficult problems. Typically, I talk to Matt Bedard (used to talk with Chuck Bedard) when I drop off a car. He is always straight forward, honest in discussions and extremely thorough in his work. When you go to a dealer you get to talk with a service person who may or may not know what a transmission is. At Bedard's you talk to Matt which eliminates the chance of misinformation and eliminates 1/3 of the dealer charges. So, I rate Bedard Automotive thusly: Atmosphere: The best Mechanical knowledge: Absolutely the best Price: 2/3 dealer charges Time required to do the job: What ever it takes to do it correctly. Price: About 2/3 dealer charges Quality: Absolute best. Bedard Automotive is the best.

Prices are a little high but they do great work! They keep you up to date on your vehicle, and do a great job with there inspections.

He is Neel the owner (as you might've guessed) of this establishment on Imperial Hwy, which is thankfully not too far from us. He diagnoses quickly, gets the job done efficiently, charges reasonably compared to other mechanics we've gone to in the area, and above all is a man of integrity--he's allowed us to pay for certain repairs days later to make sure our car is running properly first. He is transparent about his shop's limitations (they don't do German cars but refer us to highly rated shops nearby). He is clearly very experienced and knows how to weigh the best repair options, especially for older vehicles. I plan on relying on Neel for years to come. Cheers!

They were busy but insured me it would only be about two hours for an oil change, break inspection, and tire rotation. Got a call about an hour later from Neel himself saying my Rav 4 was ready to go and didn't hassle me about doing any additional work, which I feel you get every time at a mechanic shop. It was a great feeling to just get the service and feed back you requested. Thanks Neel and Hector for the honestly, professional input, and transparency. Look forward to working with your company in the future. Only downside is parking. Be patient and you'll find one.

I'm always on time with oil changes 5k miles no matter what year... I relied on the old reviews of this place with Tatsu but I agree, I met Kevin and he isn't that welcoming, not sure if he's going thru something in his life and taking it out on customer but I also agree, he's short, can come off as rude and idk, doesn't seem to enjoy talking to customers about cars. I asked for oil change only and got quoted over 200$? He tried to say the better oil was recommended but like dude I can go to valvoline right now for 100$ no questions asked.. I think they try to charge more because they use high tech diagnostic equipment which is great for major issues but for simple things I was displeased to get upsold when my almost new car is in great condition..... I was hoping to build a lasting relationship with this place but I'm going back to my trusted dealer who is a bit farther but worth the drive, Fitzgeralds Auto in Costa Mesa or OC Masters Tech in Orange for my MAZDA!

It was not. He was wedged in there for 12 hours with no food, no water, and zero litter box access. He was absolutely losing it. I ran through every option. Fire department? Busy with the actual chemical explosion rattling all of OC, fair. Animal control? Ghosted me. My cousin, currently out of the country, tried Tesla Roadside Assistance through the app. Tesla's answer: their technicians are not trained to rescue animals. Noted, but deeply unhelpful in the moment. Two other mechanics passed too. Jesse was my third Yelp attempt and my last real option. He showed up within two hours, no fuss, and got straight to work. He tried everything - the frunk, underneath, removing the right wheel - methodically working different angles for an hour and a half because my cat had chosen the most inconvenient possible position to be chonky in. Jesse stayed patient the entire time and got him out safely. My cat is home. He is fine. He is completely unbothered, as cats are. Jesse showed up when nobody else could. That is not something I will forget. Oh, and his prices are insanely reasonable. If you need a mechanic who will actually show up and problem-solve, Jesse is your guy.

I paid Jesse $120 toward motorcycle service, and apparently accepting payment was the only part of…read morethe job he was interested in completing. I had ordered a part and was waiting for it to arrive, so about a month passed. During that entire time, Jesse never contacted me to ask whether the part had arrived or to follow up on the work I had already paid him to do. I eventually had to reach out to him myself. Over the following three weeks, I sent multiple text messages and called several times, all of which were ignored. After getting nowhere, I called from a different number--and suddenly Jesse answered. His excuse was that he had been "busy." I asked him to send me my money back and he hung up and blocked my number. In total, nearly two months passed after he took my money with no communication, no follow-up, and no attempt to complete the service. Being busy may explain a delayed response. It does not explain ignoring a paying customer for over two months while continuing to keep their money. That is not poor time management; it is poor business practice. There was an $80 diagnostic fee, so technically I am only out $40. Financially, it is not a huge loss. Professionally, however, it says everything I need to know about this business. A reputable business does not take payment, fail to complete the agreed-upon service, ignore every attempt at communication, and then offer excuses only after being reached from a number it does not recognize. The motorcycle needed a diagnosis, but the bigger problem turned out to be the business itself: unreliable, unresponsive, and completely lacking in accountability. I would not trust Jesse with my motorcycle again, and I certainly would not recommend paying him anything upfront.
