We all know that restaurant hours are not always what they seem. Restaurants will post hours like 4-10pm (or whatever time) then get there 1/2 hr before closing thinking you're safe. But in reality, kitchen is closed. Or, you might get lucky, get seated- but you're getting the evil eye because you 'just made it'. We took that chance when our Oumou Sangaré concert at The Caramoor finished at 9:30p on a Sat. and got here 25 minutes before the restaurant AND kitchen closed at 10. Thank you. I can't comment on how 'they used to be', what their food was like in the past, who's managing 234 now or stuff like that- because our Saturday dinner was tasty. To be honest, we felt Bedford234 is a haven for quality eats with a nice menu standout of appetizers, soups+salads, main plates, sides, a detailed wine list and cocktails. 234 has a raw look of woods, black border windows, metal and artwork softening the entire space. Service from Sophie was exceptional and didn't rush us. Our Goat Ch+Fig+Honey crostini starter was scrumptious. I will mention that the 7 crostini pieces we received weren't just "toast". These were griddled with a crispy (but not crack your teeth crispy) outside and soft in the middle, probably rubbed with a garlic clove and brushed with olive oil. That's my guess. Drinks were nice, my Roasted Halibut+greens (wanted more greens)+heirloom tomatoes+Pistou main plate was fabulous and hubs enjoyed his Hanger+Chimichurri+fingerling potatoes. We really lucked out at 234 in tony Bedford. All I know is, Saturday night screams at least one spot to grab dinner when all the other kitchens in the area or surrounding towns might close early with no window time- and that's here. Despite the limited time, these folks did a fantastic job at pacing our meals accordingly. By the way, we also got to enjoy our out of the ordinary Strawberry Shortcake without wolfing it down.

Our wine group met here for a dinner recently. I had never been but will certainly be going back. They started us off with a dish of Mere Point Oysters, Maine Row 7 Beets with Rouge Creamery blue cheese, Heritage Jamone, creamed spinach and a truffle crostini. They were all wonderful. Next on to Octopus Carpaccio which consisted of thinly sliced octopus, chorizo sausage, potatoes, peppers and meyer lemon. Next course was Black Sea Bass with lentils, black truffle and baby brussels sprouts - This was a knockout dish. The fish was oh so tender and flaky and they did not skimp on the truffle. Superb dish. The next course was Venison "Agnolotti in Brodo" with radish and caramelized fig. The venison was tender and delicious and the pasta was perfectly cooked! The last main course was grass fed beef short rib with mushrooms, pearl onions and carrots. This just melted in your mouth!! Dessert was this absolutely ridiculous pizza with carmalized figs, shaved nuts and vanilla ice cream. I've never had anything like it, but hope I do again. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a smallish dining room and can get a little loud, but the staff is extremely helpful and friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I will be back!

Where do I start? Bedford... home of the wealthy horse back riding minimalists. You cannot expect to come to this town and not drop some $$$$$. Okay, got that out of the way. Now to the food and drinks!! Omg!!!!! Fresh, richly flavored and tantalizing to my tastebuds. We got the poke bowl, quinoa bowl, winter daze drink and a cucumber martini. The quinoa bowl was delicious and spicy! The spice was a nice surprise! It was a pretty good size also and I felt satiated by the end. The poke bowl has a generous amount of Tuna which is not always the case with Poke despite the title of the dish. All I'll say about the drinks is that the Winter daze tasted like Winter and the martini tasted like vacation. GO there! NOW!

    Five star burger!!!

Went to the Bedford Post Inn after seeing them advertise their "Sunday Pancakes" (as in, Sunday in…read moreBrooklyn) on social media. I had never been to Sunday in Brooklyn but upon reviewing menus from the Bedford Post Barn, several menu items seem to be taken directly from that very popular restaurant and with the same NYC prices. Upon entering there is a medium sized dining area with inviting tables along with counter seating along their coffee bar-- while I went during the winter, it looks like the outdoor space would've been a beautiful place to sit as well during more temperate months. With reservations I was always promptly seated, and service was friendly enough and orders were taken in a timely manner. After going to the Bedford Post Barn twice, I can say that the food is good quality, tasty, yet still on the pricier side-- everything is about 4 dollars more than what you would get at a comparable American restaurant of the same quality in Westchester, though I'm sure these prices are inconsequential for their target clientele in Bedford. The Sunday pancakes were decadent with a great caramel flavor from the maple praline and a thick, rich cake-like texture. The BEC sandwich was actually wonderful, the texture of the egg is great and the hash brown adds a great crunch, but kind of small for $20 and having no side. The club sandwich was generous with turkey but skimped a little of the dijonnaise sauce (TBF I think if I asked for more I am sure they would have accommodated me) the The french fries are amazing-- great crunch and well seasoned. The café drinks were also very high quality. The food, ambiance and service made for a really nice brunch experience if you are looking for something a little more elevated for breakfast in terms of ambiance moreso than any ingenuity with the menu. While the Sunday Pancakes are unique, for the rest of the menu they have the basics done well and presented well here.

I am seriously flabbergasted by the low reviews here... I think people are coming here with expectations that are of a 3 Michelin star experience in the city, or something weird. I found myself at Freddy's to celebrate my dad's birthday. He was in the mood for a burger and…read moreafter searching the Westchester area we ultimately landed here. The pics, reviews, and menu all seemed to point towards a yes - so off we went. Freddy's is located within the main commercial hub of Pleasantville. It's not a large restaurant, but holds a decent amount of seating with tasteful and laid-back decor. We were there right at opening at 4:30p, so it wasn't crowded but started filling up as time progressed. The menu is mostly American - arranged by apps, salads, entrees, sides, and desserts. I decided to start with the burrata which was served with diced butternut squash, brown butter, and grilled bread. This was...not what I was expecting. Burrata usually comes as an intact sphere that you cut open to reveal the soft cheese inside. This was already broken, and served in an almost deconstructed way. It honestly looks like a way to cut corners as it was definitely not a whole burrata. That, and the lack of flavor do not make it worth the $17 they charge. My main was better - I ordered the smoked chicken which was a breast on the bone and came with grits, spinach, and honey au jus. This was tasty - the chicken was juicy with crispy skin, and the au jus added a welcome sweetness to the grits and spinach. We opted for dessert because birthday - I chose the carrot cake which was just okay. No nuts, raisins, or noticeable carrots - so, a spice cake? As a side note, we were there during HV Restaurant week, however in lieu of a dedicated menu they offered a prix fixe app/entree/dessert off their menu. It sounded great at face value, but then we were told the portions would be smaller - and for items they couldn't shrink they up-charged if we ordered off the regular menu. IMO, not the best way to do restaurant week - either have a dedicated menu for it or don't participate at all. That being said, we decided to order off the regular menu. Service was good, everyone was friendly and food came out at a good pace. Overall, Freddy's sent me mixed signals - the food wasn't bad, but this isn't a place I would go out of way to try again - it's more of a local spot in my perspective. If circumstances found me here again, though, I wouldn't be mad.

Food just wasn't that good. The table ordered a variety of dishes--mid at best…read more Service was also 2 stars, not friendly at all. Tell my friends to pass or go at your own risk
