    Mega huge side salad.

On a leisurely weekend drive to Grand Rapids from Toledo, we found ourselves hungry in Waterville during a pandemic. Normally we'd keep driving, but the pandemic has made being adventurous with eating tough, and when we noticed Dale's was open with outside seating, we decided to give it a try! Long story short, the food is solid, the portions are big and the view from the sidewalk is pretty lovely. If you haven't been to Waterville, it's classic historic small town America, and the food definitely follows suit.

Yes. A 5-star review for a diner. Location is ideal. Menu is extensive but not overwhelming and all the things you expect at a great diner - including chili, home fries, and homemade pies. The staff is friendly, efficient, knowledgeable. The food comes out fast and is high quality. I wouldn't change a thing (although they are closing for 3 days the first week of November for renovations - I'm sure it's maintenance and necessary but I still wouldn't change a thing). Great for breakfast or lunch; worth any wait quoted. Great service, great value, great tasting food. The trifecta for a dining experience and a delightful restaurant. Today we ordered two 'skillet' breakfasts: 1. Country: Home fries, sausage gravy, peppers and onions, topped with two eggs and shredded cheese 2. Veggie: Home fries topped with two eggs, spinach, peppers, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, and our shredded cheese blend. Both with biscuits for the small upcharge. Both delicious. Website: http://www.dalesbarandgrill.com/dales-diner/ This diner is the perfect small town diner and the food is consistently great. I no longer live in town, but enjoy coming when I visit. Parking is free street parking and a good indicator for how long your wait will be. (Totally worth any wait though) Decor is charming with historic photos of Waterville and seating is comfortable. My favorite orders have been the skillets (the home fries are Hand-sliced potatoes lightly griddle-fried with onion) but Dale's is famous for their burgers. I save my burger orders for Dale's on Conant in Maumee since I cannot get a breakfast skillet there. :) I'm convinced there is not a bad food order here. Excellent choice.

Long wait this morning. Hope it's good.

I really have nothing bad to say. The door was delicious and the service was great. We were told it would be a half hour wait, which turns into an hour wait. That's how busy and good the food is. I've never eaten anything other than breakfast here and can't comment on the lunch menu items. I would recommend getting there early though on a weekend or your going to have to wait fire sure.

First time here and won't be the last! Hubby and I were in the area for a long morning bike ride. We wrapped up our biking and were starving - I yelped the area and Dale's came up when I sorted by score. We got a cute little table outside. It was a bit overcast but the weather was great for breakfast outside. I ordered bacon (crispy) and home fries (crispy) along with a side order of cinnamon pecan French toast. The bacon was average thickness and not that instant microwave stuff. Home fries were plentiful and perfectly "crispy". The French toast was incredible. Lot of pecans and a great cinnamon whipped butter.

Loved this popular place! Had eggs, thick sourdough toast and their sausage. All amazing! The waitress was very kind, she made great recommendations! I recommend if you're in the area. Also, be prepared to wait a bit. We waited 15 minutes. Was worth it!

This was a fantastic place! Very small but worth the wait. I was in a party of six and everyone was craving something different. We all loved our food. The prices were great and the service was friendly and fast. The coffee was strong and refilled without asking. I would definitely come here every time I visit the area. A true gem!

Breakfast quesadilla, and hash browns is what I got. Super good. Good service. Outside and inside eating.

I kind of thought the nicer tables would have been saved for folks that made reservations. The waitress took forever to take our drink orders. It took forever to get the drinks. We ordered our meals when the drinks came so we could try to get ahead of the curve. The soup/salads came and before we could finish, the main courses started coming out. This really upsets me. Take forever to take our orders and then rush us out the door. Dinner rolls are available, but one has to ask for them. It's in very small print on the menu. Why the server can't ask if the diners would like bread is B.S. I know their method saves them money, but I think they could change their practice and still keep the lights on. The prime rib was tough and not very flavorful this time. The server didn't bus any of the salad or soup dishes, so the table was an overly crowded mess by the end. Seriously, to have to keep your side towards the middle of the table is just a P.I.T.A. Not sure how much potato fell off of my fork on its way to my face. The price for dinner this time was $107.00 for the same meal we had back in November. That does not include the tip. In the end, not worth it in any way.

The sign on the door said that staff were taking precautions against COVID-19, however we did not see any staff outside the kitchen wearing masks or gloves, or see any closed tables. On entering, we waited by the 'please wait to be seated' sign for a couple of minutes before a smiling, young waitress took us to a table. The menu was surprisingly extensive; my daughters each ordered the chocolate chip pancake, while I got the Mexican Hat Dance with a coffee. However the waitress kept forgetting things, and had to come back twice to ask questions like what kind of cheese (pepperjack). Our orders were ready in what felt like a pretty average amount of time, considering there were only three other occupied tables in the restaurant. The food itself was good, but not great. All of the food was amazing, but hands down the table favorite was honestly the whipped feta. It's what dreams are made of! It had a slightly spicy oil topper, and delicious crostini! The only note I would give, is that the bacon appetizer really needs to come with a steak knife for sharing. It was a little too hard to cut with just the butter knife. Steaks and sides are all prepared perfectly, the button mushrooms were a hit as well. I would completely recommend this restaurant to anyone, and will return again if I'm back in the area.

We arrived 45 minutes before closing, and the host asked if we'd like to sit in the bar where they offer the full menu. Saying yes was fine until the last 15 minutes. A better choice would have been to sit in the dining room. We started off with drinks, V ordered a Mai Tai, and I had a Tequila something or other. The drinks tasted good, if I were a betting person, I'd say that they touched the ice with alcohol, and that's about it. I don't drink very often, so I always know if a drink contains a meaningful amount of alcohol. They brought out a warmed puff bread. It was unique for sure, and tasted good too. Our appatiser was Lobster Tail served on a bed of vinegar-based coleslaw with miso or something similar. The flavors worked together fabulously. V's entree was a beef stir fry. He said it was ok, but nothing special. He also ordered the Smoked Gouda & Rosemary Mac & Cheese with bacon. That side dish was very tasty, but overpowered my entree, though it paired well with his beef. I had the Miso Halibut, which came over with Sweet Chili Bok Choy and Jasmine Rice. This entree had perfectly paired flavors; I'd certainly like to have it again. Our waitress was friendly and attentive; we couldn't ask for better service. Sitting in the bar wasn't a good idea as in the last 15 minutes a loud-mouthed womanizing man started sharing his conquests with six other people.
