This is a serious craft supply store, not a Michael's where you can only buy pre-packaged and partially made things. No, here you can buy wires and beads and rocks and pliers and solder and clay and all the actual stuff to make your items from the very start. They also offer a wide range of interesting looking classes. Their gemstone selection isn't great - check out Silver Cove if you want crystals and stuff - but they have a good selection of beads which you can pick out individually in little trays, and their prices seem to be better overall than Silver Cove for most things. If you're into beading or jewelry making then I highly recommend checking this place out! read more

Location is a little far for me but they do have a large selection of beads and supplies to choose from. So if you're in a pinch and Michael's won't do - then Bedrock fills that niche. Give yourself time to look as things can be difficult to find. I find a lot of the gems are very over priced for what you get. Especially seed beads which I can get for $2.95 online per pack. If you need support for an order - call. I don't think their email works at least, I have yet to receive a response. Also worth to note: be wary when shopping online. I made the mistake of purchasing stretch cord and was surprised to see individual strands. Very expensive. read more

This is the place to go if you are in need of gems, beads, or other jewellery supplies. The staff is very knowledgable in the different supplies they carry. As well as being patient with novice people like me with my questions. I aways seem to find extra things to bring home. Being a crafter I have started to grow a collection of beads to add to creations. They have an amazing range of sizes and colours. These are the real deal and so beautiful. I'm getting up the nerve to sign up for a silver smithing class. That is just one of the many classes they offer along with rental time in order to use their equipment. read more

Arbitrarily I decided that silversmithing would be my new hobby, so I joined a class at the City Arts Centre this semester. I needed to purchase tools and materials and was told by the instructor that Bedrock was the place to go. The store is well organized, tidy, and quiet, and there are many helpful staff members available. The sales associate who helped me during my visit was extremely nice, as well as patient (I have no idea what I'm doing, and didn't know the answers to several of his questions about the materials I wanted). He spent a lot of time helping me and I ended up purchasing everything I needed for the class (as well as a few extra items that have already come in handy). My one complaint. Silver was pricey. Not any pricier than I expected, but at just under $2/gram it was around 70 cents/gram more expensive than another location in the city (I was informed by classmates who visited the other shop). Anyway, my visit to Bedrock was fruitful, albeit a bit expensive, and I'll definitely be back when I need more tools/materials! read more

"Buyers Beware!" I had some work done at bedrock supplies. I thought the prices were a little high. The main problem I had was when I tried to have some jewelry made. Some original work and a reproduction of an existing piece. I was assured that it was all very standard, and that it would be no problem. I paid for the molds, I supplied the silver, and made sure to pay in full on the spot. Roughly $350.00. They gave me a date of completion, however it wasn't met. This happened multiple times. When I did receive the work, it was very rough. My original pieces were damaged, cuts from demolding, and the welds were left for me to take care of. The finish was nothing like when I brought it in. Some pieces were taken apart and re welded, I was told they weren't. I received a one piece mold, so who has the two part? Yeah, I wonder. Incomplete, deformed pieces were returned to have a few pieces redone, multiple times. I was treated as if I was the amateur, (large holes, or whole sections missing)and told they have all the tools I'd need to repair the work in question. Excuse after excuse, something came up, I demolded too soon, I had a class, ect. I was left with un finished work that can't be used. The things I could use, (after grinding, sanding, and polishing, witch I know is my responsibility) turned my skin green. I bought my 99.9 sterling myself elsewhere, so what happened? I can't help but feel duped, and taken advantage of. Also to be treated like I don't know, or understand the steps, or what's going on, ect. What happened to my silver if my skin turned green? In any event, I would be very careful if I was thinking about having some work done at bedrock supplies. "Don't pay up front". Oh, also most of the reviews are from staff or family members who work at bedrock supplies. Buyers Beware. So thank you Bedrock Supplies for your skill, tact, and professionalism. read more

My fiance's dad loves this place -- that's how I stumbled upon this cute shop when I tagged along a year or two ago. I generally have a sense of caution when I were to pick up any new crafts: I have a big enough pile of "To be completed" projects in my closet. So, when I saw a Groupon for a beginner's bead workshop, along with $20 worth of supplies, I jumped on it. They have got an amazing selection of freshwater pearls! I just had my lesson yesterday; Helen (instructor) was extremely patient and devoted equal attention to each of us who needed help and/or guidance. Crimping was a bit of a challenge; the first time, I didn't leave enough wiggle room for my necklace, so it broke. I ended up re-beading my necklace 4 times! It was a riot! (A fellow student noted that if you are a beginner, do make sure you buy bigger beads; easier to see. Magnifying glass would have been helpful for the far-sighted students.) I would definitely sign up for another lesson and Bedrock Supply; I had a lot of fun! Their resident cat Princess is super friendly. Prices are quite reasonable, even without the help of a Groupon. They have cute sales; for the month of June, they've got pearls and Alexandrite on sale, which is awesome since both are my birthstones. read more

EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED with the high prices and lack of customer service at Bedrock Supply! Although some staff (Jerry, Dave and Patti) are helpful and friendly, other staff lack product info and knowledge. Sale pricing and return policies are unclear and their website is rarely up-to-date. Their 10% discount is a joke and only applies to very specified products and merchandise. Their prices are 70-90% higher than you can purchase online or on eBay. The only way you can get fair pricing at Bedrock is to take advantage of their anniversary sale. When I called to speak with a manager or the owner to discuss my concerns and ask about exchanging 2 items, I was pushed beyond reasonable frustration by Stephanie. WHY SHOP HERE when you can get the same quality products online at eBay at 70-90% off and don't have to deal with a rude sales person? read more
