Their pricing has gotten out of control. I used to get a shot for my dog and it was $50 then $75 then over $100. I get they can only control so much of medication costs but they can control 100% of their Exam Fee costs and it's now $75 just to be seen!!! This is how much a nearby clinic charges for a package which includes the visit, distemper, leukemia, rabies and tapeworm preventatives!!! Y'all, do better. People are struggling out here and trying to do the best they can for their animals. read more

I arrived to a scheduled appointment @ 12 noon. Driving up to the clinic the parking lot was pretty much empty and I parked my car right directly in front of the door to enter. I was greeted by 2 office workers who were working the computers and checked in for the appointment entering the empty of customers lobby. I was given a questionnaire to fill out and directed to an exam room by an intern of the clinic. The intern was very diligent in their work and I was informed the doctor is with another patient and will be in the exam room soon. After 20 minutes of waiting in the exam room the intern returned and had an estimate in their hand for an 8 month old puppy, then informing me it was wrong and a another estimate was needed. Another 5 minutes passed and I looked into the lobby and I seen 3 women sitting together by the computers chatting away. I went back to the exam room and after another 10 minutes of waiting it was time to leave this clown show. Gathering up the box that contained the puppy and walking into the lobby towards to the front door it surprised the 3 women who were chatting at the computers. The woman that wasn't there by the computers when I first entered the clinic then asked me where I was going and is now ready to see the puppy. I informed this person that I will be going a different route as it is very easy to see the staff sure didn't value the customer's time or their money. Especially when everyone is chatting by the computers for at least a 10+ minute period. I still don't think I actually seen the vet at the clinic as I was never introduced to the vet. The clinic was empty and the 2 staff employees managed to produce an incorrect estimate after 20 minutes and never produced the correct estimate. The only person who actually seemed to care about how a professional vet clinic should be run was the intern really tells you all you need to know. read more

I can't thank them enough during this pandemic in 2020. They are considered as essential business. They stayed open during Covid-19 pandemic. Curbside drop off and pick up became a normal routine for me. But my dissatisfaction in 2021 was a dump in the cat litter box. It started with a medication issue. I picked up a medication refill few days before other Big Freeze aka deadly Winter Storm Uri of Texas. The consistency of the medicine is very weak. It was like starch water. It should be heavy sustenance sinking the bottom of yellow syrup. I brought it up during his annual blood work. Doctor Matt said, "we ran out of shrimp flavoring..." Like I was born yesterday. I took my cat back for recheck because of suspicion in the medicine causing his T4 count to be so high. That was about a month after correct medicine given. I made an appointment for 10 am. Employee said there was no other openings but I had to wait. Not sure what to expect. This is not a doctor's office for human. We can walk around to drink water or use bathroom. But cats can't. I don't mind paying for lodging if I knew how inhumane they would treat my cat. My cat was in carrier for too long before blood work done. Locked up in a confined space from 10 am to 5 pm, expect getting examined and giving medicine. No water. No food. No liter. When I picked him up, he was sitting in his own feces. I took him to shower immediately getting out of my car. I found some blood oozing wound on his hind leg. My advice to you is, If they don't have a definite time for an appointment, best not to bring your pet. read more

The staff is super polite and check in process is super smooth. The place was busy and I can see why. Because they are awesome. I even met a person who was regularly coming to this place for last 8-10 years. Dr. Stone and his assistant were super considerate and knowledgeable. They took their time to explain the issue with our cat. Dr. took her time to go through the file of my pet to see the history. Really not happy with my last visit and wanted posting this. As stated before, Lari, the lead tech, is still amazing and communicated a plan to me that was best for my fearful dog and I. However, Dr. Stone then barged into the room, muzzled him, had three people hold him down for a suture removal and he was so scared he peed himself. He shook and hid the rest of the day. It was horrible. Dr. Stone claims to be Fear Free certified, but I later found out only the lead tech is. I'm guessing this is why she thought it was ok to slam him to the ground the way Dr. Stone did. Don't let DOCTOR STONE TOUCH YOUR ANIMAL! If she acts like this in front of you, what does she do with you gone?!? I called back to ask for all my records because of this and was told they have to ask Dr. Stone for approval and I never got them! Absolutely awful place. What can I say I have one of the best clinics in my area, Molly my German Shepherd was in need of a leg amputation due to a car hitting her, I went to several vets and received several quotes which where over $4K. Beechnut Animal Hospital was by far the lowest under $2k; I could find but the moment you step in you feel the love from everyone they truly do love animals and makes me proud to say my doggy loves all the staff there as well. They helped me and gave me several options for her amputation as in cost wise and medicine. Molly came out of surgery and within 3 days she was back to normal and just so happy. 1 week later she got an infection due to me removing the cone and her biting/licking the cut they took care of her everyday with hydro water therapy due to me not having a hose at home for the therapy. I am truly appreciative to everyone that works there from the front desk,staff and most important the doctors for truly loving and caring so much for animals. The guinea pig I bought at petco which they brought in to this vet for checked up came back with description of skin lesion and a small bottle to wash once a day for 5-15 days. Well, that small bottle is enough for the skin lesion near it's nose but then I notice different areas on its back and spot on leg that show signs of skin lesion .when thoroughly looked at online for hours, turn out it's associated with fungal skin and mites! Paper of check up did not mention checking hair under microscope for mites or rule all possible outcome . I was very skeptical so I did a lot of research when I got him back . Also Vets suppose to know the difference gender but this place called the male guinea pig a SHE. I did lots of research and recommended people don't buy pets from petco or PetSmart . read more

I'm very grateful for Beechnut Animal Hospital. After a terrible ordeal at Briargrove, I called Beechnut out of desperation and they told me to bring him by in the morning. I was able to drop him off on the way to work. I like this, as I feel my cat is in line to receive medical attention, and the vet can priortize and take care of all animals (instead of walking in and sitting there like I had to do at Briargrove). I got a call a couple hours later directly from the veterinarian, and the initial diagnosis was explained to me. My cat did have feline resorptive lesions in his mouth, but he wanted to run another CBC to further explain why the white cell blood count was high. I ok'd the testing. The vet called back again about 90 minutes later. Unfortunately, it was bad news. The antibiotics that were given previously (at Briargrove, a few days ago) was doing nothing to combat the white cell blood count. It had gone even higher than when the CBC was done at Briargrove a few days ago. Black Kitty was only going to get worse and eventually pass away. Black Kitty was born with Feline Leukemia, and the symptoms were far outweighing anything that could be done to help. The veterinarian said chemo could be started, but that would only bring Black Kitty back to about 25% of his usual self. I did not want old BK to suffer anymore so the decision was made to euthanize. I left work and made my way up there. The staff at Beechnut was second to none. I felt like they were compassionate and professional. I was taken to a room and they brought BK in. I was able to be there and give him some last lovings, and thank him for being a part of my life. FeLV positive kitties have a life span of 2 to 4 years and BK made it to 7 years. As BK passed on, I could hear the goings on of other animals being taken care of, being checked out at the front desk, etc. I liked that because of the fact that, even though my old BK was at his end, there was life going on around us. This happened on 4/15/16, and I couldn't write this until today. I'm crying as I write this because BK meant a lot to me. I felt like we got personal attention and I can see why this clinic stays busy. I don't plan on getting any more cats right now but if/when I do I will definitely take them to Beechnut Animal Clinic. read more

Supremely grateful that I found this vet!!!! I took my 5 yr old pitbull, Ruby, to see them after she tore her ACL in both legs. I had already taken her to another vet when it initially happened to the first leg and they were saying the only option was surgery. I did some research and was very opposed to the surgical route for a multitude of reasons (which I won't bore you on here). For me the biggest thing was that Dr. Slack did not once push for surgery. She was very sympathetic and understanding of my hesitations and was still doing everything she could to help Ruby while still working within my comfort levels. There were some concerns of infection and spinal injury and Dr. Slack was very transparent about the costs for bloodwork and x-rays and understood that I might not be able to afford both of those at the time. She was still willing to prescribe steroids or pain medication regardless of my choice but also informed me of the risks. I decided to do the bloodwork and wanted to wait on the X-rays for the follow up appointment if needed. Dr. Slack answered all my questions, prescribed steroids, and made some helpful suggestions based on the results of the bloodwork. Its been 3 days since our visit and I'm already seeing improvements! Before our appointment Ruby seemed depressed and hesitant to eat anything aside from cooked food. I noticed her front paws were swollen and attributed it to her putting all her weight on her front legs. Dr. Slack figured out from the bloodwork that her protein levels were low which apparently can cause swelling! I have since added more meat to her diet and the swelling has gone down! She also found sores in Ruby's mouth which the steroids have seemed to clear up so now she's happily eating anything and everything like she did before! Ruby has even been wagging her tail and sitting up more often. And just now she stood up on her own for a second!! I had to make her lay back down so that she wouldn't hurt herself but that's amazing! I think she's feeling good enough to want to move again!! Anyway, I'm so glad to have found a vet that really puts their patients first. In my experience I've encountered that a lot of vets that have tried to push and shame me into expensive treatments and tests. It makes it difficult to trust what you're being told. I did not find that to be the case AT ALL here. I do also have to say that I was starting to consider surgery but wanted to see what other options I had. I also wanted to try wait until after I was back from a trip I have coming up soon, so I wasn't in a rush to make any big decisions. When I found BAH, the reviews were so impressive and really only positive. Many of them mentioned Dr. Matt and the tightrope surgery and how it was less invasive, had a smaller chance of reinjury and was a fraction of the cost of the more popular TPLO procedure. I knew that if Ruby had to have surgery, I wanted her to go to him. But when I called they informed me that Dr. Matt is no longer doing the surgery and recommended 2 other clinics that do tightrope. Those clinics did not come even come close to the positive reviews BAH received. So since I wasn't ready to fully embrace the surgical route anyway, I figured it would be fine to just take her to BAH for a consultation. The reviews about their compassion and putting the animals first is what did it for me. And to be honest, since they couldn't do the surgery themselves, I figured they might try to provide alternative treatments. I'm so glad I went with my gut. We still have a long road to recovery and while I have not officially ruled out surgery yet, I'm glad to have found Beechnut Animal Hospital and Dr. Slack. read more

I brought my dog in this morning bc he had his back and front claws hooked together and twisted in a really painful way. I tried for an hr to fix it myself but I ended up hurting him more. I was nervous to take him to the vet bc I figured they would overcharge me like crazy. I got there at 7 when they opened but the drs don't get there til 8:30 so I waited. The lady working at the counter, dawn, was very sweet and helpful. Once the doctors got there it was a five min fix and we were all good again. And they only charged me for a nail trim rather than a full exam like they could have. Really nice people that work here and were very sweet to my dog. I absolutely love these guys. I've been coming here for years, and that's because of the amazing customer service, but most importantly because of how well they take care of my babies. When I say we have a zoo of pets, I'm not exaggerating. People have literally said that to us multiple times when we have guests over. Anyway, whenever we come in, we are usually recognized and greeted right away, and they remember our pets too. The front office staff is very friendly and you can tell they genuinely care about the pets well being. The office always seems clean too which I can imagine is hard to do with animals coming in and out all the time, and anytime my pets have had any accidents, they treat it like such a normal thing and make sure you don't feel bad at all. The Dr.s are also top notch. Our pets are always comfortable (as much as they can be once they know they're at the vet) around them, and once the Dr actually spends time with them, the pets ease up. He called on the weekend just to check in on Scout. He did t surgeries prior to the amputation and did all he could to try and save Scout's leg. Been a client of Dr. Gregg Matt and others there at the clinic for general pet services for many years. Can't say enough good about their general services. Last year as we were approaching Thanksgiving holiday, my 9yr old Border Collie started favoring her left hind leg, to the point of not supporting any weight. Borders, by nature, are very active and she enjoys bounding out quickly after squirrels and large birds who visit our yard. Dr. Matt determined that she had torn her ACL and somewhat damaged her Medial Meniscus. Traditional surgery would have been very expensive and a fairly extensive recovery period. For a dog of her years, this was not the best option. He then introduced me to the new technique of "tight-rope" joint repair. An amazing concept and a far simpler procedure. Well, just as he laid out, within 2 months after this surgery, she was very much back to normal, still limiting her activity. By three months, there was no noticeable limp or limitation on what she could do. Now, ten months later, she is extremely healthy, active and shows absolutely no sign of ever having any ailment in her joint. This is a far cry from where she was not able to place her paw on the floor, to back to full use. She runs, jumps, chases and even occasionally stands on hind legs as she peers over fences and counters. This is an amazing transformation The procedure was performed at the clinic, small incision, no long stay, and rapid recovery-following the Dr's recommendations! Eight months after my dog's torn left ACL was surgically repaired by Dr. Matt, he tore his right one while at a boarding facility. Ugh! We had such a good experience the first time around, I went back to Beechnut and Dr. Matt did the surgery on the new tear. It has been seven months since the second surgery and, even though he just turned nine, my dog is running around like a two-year old! There is no evidence of a limp on either leg, no arthritis, no scarring. My dog acts like he did before he had his first injury.
