I'm a fan. So far my favorite spot in the sopi area. Went on a weekend and it would appear reservations are better on the weekend. The place is absolutely not the prettiest but the food is good and the meal very enjoyable. I love it for a low key date night. read more

I read some older reviews and got a little concerned but decided to go anyway. I haven't been here in a long time and I don't know why. We went last night for my birthday dinner and I am so glad we did. I started out with the French Onion soup and it was delicious, it had plenty of onions in the broth and used bread instead of croutons to hold the cheese. My brother and I got the prime rib with the sautéed mushrooms and was one of the best we have had. My wife got the ribs which were a little dry but very tasty. My sister-in-law got the pork chops and they were very tender and good. We had a great time and would highly recommended this restaurant. Steve L read more

Ribeye Steak was cut very narrow and a little tuff. Broiled Beef Medallions was ok, baked potato warm at best, broccoli cold. Two of us, w water tax and tip abt. $80.00 - a lot of money and not much bang for the buck - disappointed. Our waitress was the best part of the night. read more

Went here a couple of of days ago with my mother and daughter for dinner. The food was fresh and perfectly prepared. The overall service of the waitress was a little gruff which soured the overall meal with my family. Especially when we asked if it would be possible to get a few French rolls to take home with our leftovers. Was shocked that for two ribeye dinners and chicken fingers for my daughter and a $80+ dinner (no alcohol) bill, we had such significant pushback and eventually refusal of receiving any more than the 3 rolls we originally received that could be picked up in the local grocery store freezer section. So this is the reason for 2 stars. I would suggest that management take a little more of a stance on the give than take, and make sure that this is expressed through their front line, their waiter/waitress. read more

Outstanding meal! The food quality and the preparation was perfect. The service was attentive but lacking in that the waitress mixed up everyones salad as well as entree. We all had to switch our meals back and forth with each other to get what we ordered. It seems that the patrons do NOT adhere to the resort casual dress code recommendation. Worn and dirty jeans, trucker caps, etc. The staff should all wear a similar outfit as well. It is a very old facility and small. We will surely return. We have been eating at Beefeaters for years and have loved it. It has recently changed ownership and we wanted to try it with some friends. So I will give you the good and the bad of it. Pre covid they had an amazing salad bar with so many toppings it was incredible. Unfortunately covid ended that and they have not brought it back. Instead you get a small basic salad and there is a list of several things you can add. The salad is okay but certainly nothing we would order again. Two of us had French onion soup. This was a disaster. I am used to a bowl full of onions with a piece of bread on top with melted Gruyère cheese. What came was a bowl with very little onion in it at all. I had to search to find any and on top was a tiny crouton with something melted on it. It was a tad over salty, watery and tasted like they used onion powder in it. Next we both had the prime rib. Mine was a good size, well marbled piece of meat Cooked rare as I wanted. It was tender and delicious. The a jus was very good as well. My sides were red russet mashed potatoes which were good but not the portion i was used to. They have cut back. Our server asked if I wanted it loaded like my wife's baked potato and I said yes. Mistake. It was two it was the skimpiest loaded potato on the planet. I could not find the sour cream or bacon bits and nor could my wife. Worse was the put a what looked like a half slice of American cheese on it that was very low quality and hard. They actually brought my wife her sour cream in a tiny plastic container, but it was less than a teaspoon. This is something new now, they bring everything in little plastic cups. I asked for horseradish and I got less than a half teaspoon in a cup. Fortunately our server, who was very nice, brought me more and even she seemed surprised how little they give. Someone in the kitchen is watching food costs a little too much. One of our friends had the ribs and loved them but said they were very dry. The other had a steak and loved it although she likes her steak well done and it looked certainly well done. To me it's a travesty to do that to a filet. The drinks were good and the service was great. To sum it up, the dinner was not up to par with the previous visits but still enjoyable. We may go back but may not. The meat was good but do I want everything else to be sub par, with cheap ingredients. Oh, and I forgot, one of our guests ordered the chef special side dish of the day. It was asparagus. It took a long time after they had served our meals to finally come to the table....and was three spears. That's a bit little. read more

Prime Rib: Signature dish. Not available on Saturday evening at 7pm. "Sold out". Why? It's not prime golf season. Food: Out of the BE fries. Really?! Sat eve at 7? I had to settle for a Sysco or Gordon Food steak. Recommendation: Gordon Ramsey type person to re-education of the steak industry. It's changing and BE needs to adapt otherwise Outback (chain) will kill this local venue. Service: I can cook a steak at home. It's the service that makes me set my spatula down. A great steakhouse with a menu that includes more than just beef. We fed a family of 4 for just over a $100. The adults had steak and the kids had ribs. For fun I ordered fried frog legs for the kids to try. The thought of eating frog legs made the kids jumpy. They tasted a lot like chicken wings. All of the food was very good and they had a great health grade. The waitress was great and very attentive to our children. read more

Service was excellent. Salad bar has many options to include smoked oysters that were a tasty salad topper. I ordered my steak medium, but actually received it well done so that is my only complaint. The steak was especially tender. I ordered the ribeye and it just melted in my mouth. My only hesitance in saying it was amazing would be that the cook seriously put way too much pepper on it. I love spice and I really do not like dull food, but it was a bit much. My husband ordered the prime rib and said it was exceptional. I had a bite and would not disagree. The salad bar was outstanding, I was shocked to see Vienna sausages on it though, I got them wondering if it was those or cut up hot dogs. It made me smile, but it's not a complaint in the slightest. Everything was fresh and the lettuce was crisp. The crackers and cheese were also funny. I don't like canned cheese, but my husband enjoyed it. The bread they brought out was so good and warm, I wish I had the recipe. Finally the service was great, we felt welcome and like we were able to truly enjoy ourselves. Our drinks stayed full, our bellies were overly full, and our moods were high at the end of the night. I would go back and also do recommend it. read more

Our golf group makes a point of coming here every year and it's fantastic. Excellent steaks and we love the salad bar. Great place to relive the days round over a delicious steak and beverage. This probably isn't a place I would have found on my own but one of our group works for Buckhead Beef (Sysco) and told us how nice the owner was and how well they ran the restaurant. My wife and I have not been back since last year but we're in the area and thought we would give it another go. Once again it was bad. The prime rib was not prime. Both cuts were cold and overcooked. The baked potatoes were far from baked. Big old glob of cold cheese on top. The salad bar was good and the beer was cold. That is the best I can say. First let me say that our steaks we order were delicious, but that is where it ends. When we were seated, we waited for a server. After another table was seated and was greeted by a server, then we spoke to the owner and finally our server came to us. To start with she was extremely nice. We order cocktails and then waited and waited. Our drinks were wonderful. We ordered. We got our salads and asked for another round. This time the drinks were horrible and not done the way we asked. There was a table close to us that left and another couple was seated. This couple ordered and was served and were eating before we finally got our food. The asparagus was horrible so sent it back. I came here and it was prime rib Monday, yay? The place reminded me of the 1970's-a BeefSteak Charlies? It was crowded with old folks and a few other pale hungry folk. I had the prime rib which was cooked perfectly and a baked potato. They also brought two warm rolls. The salad bar was OK, lots of 1970's tidbits like bacon bits and lonely corn. Over all the service was good and the atmosphere stale. IDK if I'd return or not, it seemed like I time traveled and almost bought Quaaludes from the waitress. This has always been our favorite steak house in the Southern Pines area. But I feel there have been too many changes happening at once, too fast. Firstly the quality of the steaks are not the same from what they use to be. It seems here lately the steaks are more thin and way more chewy than they ever have been. The ribeyes before use to be a lot more tender. The sweet potatoes are not as good as they use to be either. They have little to no flavor and do not seem to be cooked as thorough. The french fries have seasoning on them now (which not everyone likes) and you only get about six to the count. The rolls are not good now, at all. They taste cheap and like store bought dinner rolls. And for the price you are paying I feel they could at least be presented in a linen napkin (like before) rather than a paper napkin... The atmosphere has changed a bit also. The bathrooms are filthy every time we have been as if no one ever checks to see if they are clean until shifts are over. The music playing in the background is not as enjoyable as it once was. The jazzy tunes are not the coziest or fitting for this particular place... Like before. There is no longer a great smelling candle greeting you when you walk through the door either. Things like this matter to most regular customers, and it is sad to see such things change at a favorite restaurant you have always enjoyed going to. I hate to say it, but if things continue to change for the worst and no longer improve, we will not be returning. read more

Soooo, my wife, 2 children and I reserved a table in the bar for dinner, upon my wife's (a Southern Pines native) suggestion. She has been to Beefeaters numerous times, but not in recent years. Upon being seated, an unnamed female server (she never gave us her name) with a sleeve tattoo on her right arm came and asked what we wanted to drink. Mind you there was no silverware or menus on the table yet. We asked for menus.They were delivered. I inquired about beers. She said that they were not on the menu, then proceeded to turn her back to us and read of the brands of beer on tap. None of which could we hear as she was facing away from us. A server or expeditor brought us a plate with crackers and pub cheese. Still no silverware. Drink orders were taken and delivered. The order was eventually taken. Salads and soup were delivered. The entrees were delivered. My wife ordered a beer with her dinner that was forgotten. A reminder about the beer rendered a prompt bottled beer in a room temperature pint glass. In her effort to pre-bus the table, I literally had to put my hand on my half-eaten cup of French onion soup to keep "server" girl from pulling it away. The rest of the meal was mediocre at best. The service was anything but attentive or professional. Between the lack of descent service and patrons milling around without protective masks on (Covid-19 cases expanding), we could not get out of the restaurant quickly enough. For the sub par service, we left a sub par gratuity. FYI- Prior to our current careers, my wife and I worked in everything from sports bars to the Pinehurst Hotel in the South, to fine dining in New York City to working catered events with Chef Wolfgang Puck running the back of house in Beverly Hills. We've worked the gamut. Bad service is bad service and the tattooed one was NOT in the weeds. This was just lack of care, personality and attentiveness. We will not be going back to Beefeaters anytime soon. Good food, good reviews or not, bad service can ruin an evening out in a matter of seconds. read more

Went with a group of 20. Service was terrible considering we made reservations 2 months prior to our dinner. The staff tried to help out but the Manger was terrible!!!! Food was ok but nothing special. Our golf group has been going to Beef Eaters for 20 years or more. We had 1 waiter for 20. Until we asked, service was slow, and it took almost 3 hours to have dinner. We hate not to go back next year but after talking to the Manager we will not be going back. I actually gave them 1 star because of the waiters tried to make our visit pleasant. I think the Management needs to regroup and overlook their operations. read more

I have been here a few times in the past and normally its been excellent and I normally like going to places like this because it isn't a chain restaurant...it took a loooong time for the waitress to take our order..20-30 minutes....this is the 2nd time I've gone in there asked for a steak medium well and it comes out well done..its still a good steak but its not what I asked for..and I'm not sending it back because it took about 30 minutes for them to bring my food to me....the waitress, Connie, was rude to me and my son...I was very polite to her and she just kinda ignored me...which is fine..if you want a bad tip then be my guest...I asked for A1 steak sauce and she brought it to me but my son thought it was going to be in a bottle not a ramekin...so he asked her to bring him out some as well...she didn't huff or puff..but she put her hands on her hips almost saying..you gotta be kidding me....then when she brought the bill she put the appetizers on the bill even though I did not order appetizers. read more
