They got me hook, line, and sinker. I'm just mad at myself for having waited so long (I've had this place bookmarked for about 3 years now, seriously) Very, very impressed with how friendly everyone was. When I said this was my first time there, they gave me a very thorough rundown of what they serve and showed me a few things which I was exceedingly appreciative of. I ordered their classic roast beef sandwich with lettuce, cheese, and onion, don't bother with the sauces, it takes away from the already delicious roast beef flavor. I did however dip my spuds in the horse radish sauce and I thought everything was very delicious. Beefy King is a great local place to eat. Starts off with friendly employees that serve you with a smile and very quickly. It's a family owned and run establishment that's won many Orlando Sentinel foodie awards over the years. The roast beef is carved right there for you to see and then steamed on the bun. Great tater tots come in the meal deal. The horsey sauce is great on the roast beef and the tator tots (mixed it with the bbq sauce). An Orlando staple that I have never had the pleasure having...until today. This place has amazing hot roast beef sandwiches -- think Arby's but 100x better. The place has been open since 1968 and for good reason. They serve delicious sliced sandwiches that are hot and tasty. The prices are really affordable for what they offer. I've been driving by this place during my work commute for about 10 months. Always telling myself "that place looks like a homey, local Arby's. I gotta try it" When I finally did I was not disappointed. My food was yummy and hit the spot for what I was craving. I'll admit, this wasn't the best roast beef sandwich I've had in my life but for the price, taste, and speed - Beefy King deserves 5 stars. This is probably my 30th time here and it's just as good every time! Sometimes the wait is a little long, but worth it. They do roast beef, pastrami, bbq beef, turkey, all kinds of hot sandwiches! My absolute favorite is the bbq beef! It is a mixture of a roast beef sandwich and a sloppy joe! Best this on the menu!! We get the spuds aka tator tots. They rock and are always cooked just right. Make sure you get their homemade bbq sauce, it's the perfect addition to the sandwich or the tots. The place had been here for 50 years and I am pretty sure it will be here for another 50 years. This time around we got xl roast beef and the xl pastrami. I am not a pastrami lover but the texture of the pastrami was so tender. I did like that. Gradeschool lunch food. I didn't see a microwave but it tasted like it. DON'T GET THE REUBEN. Not on rye bread, they use cheap lunch meat, the cheese was liquid provolone, the sauerkraut was stringy, and they gave me two packets of dressing to put on the sandwich. I should have taken pix of this garbage. They are gifted with two stars because my gradeschool lunch room was worse. Maybe people down south are stupid and ignorant to Reubens, it's only $5.50 and I wouldn't eat at this place again if you paid me $25. Moving on to their wannabe onion rings. These are not real by any means. They're greased up breadcrumbs with something gross inside. It's shameful knowing people actually like these because they may have never had real onion rings. Side of coleslaw was a joke. Coming from a 5 gallon bag probably (I use to work for a low end restaurant too) you are paying more than $1 per ounce of corporate slosh. This is fast food at it worst. They've been doing beef the right way for 50 years and it shows. Today, for the first time, I ordered the Pastrami with Cheese! It was delicious! So flavorful and juicy. Great local lunch spot slinging classic comfort food. My husband loves roast beef, so he is easy to order for, I however, usually prefer something else. Luckily, their small menu is still diverse and I opted for the turkey deluxe sandwich, an excellent choice. Still busy in this uncertain and vulnerable time- which is always a good sign! Vicki/Vicky, was super bubbly and helpful at the window- so wanted to give her a shout out for being there 40 years! We ordered the regular roast beef, one with cheese and one without, onion rings and tots! We could not wait to get it home it smelled so good! Both sandwiches held up to the wait, not soggy at all. Ok, I know 5 star fast food. . . What's up with that?? This has been my secret go to spot for 30 years, I will eat here any time I can, and they have been part of the Orlando food scene for longer than that. Everyone that has ever been famous in Orlando has eaten here or had events catered by them, since forever. I know that Beefy King used to be a franchise chain restaurant when I was young, but this place has always been a local family run place that has been consistently great. I always get the same regular beef sandwich special with spuds and a drink. I get the sweet BBQ sauce from the drive through, ( the spicy sauce that they have inside in the bottle is good, but I prefer the sweet), and go to THE park (Eola) and enjoy. I have never been disappointed in 30 years and the staff is always been the most friendly group I have met in any Orlando restaurant. Enjoy often!! read more

Taking a break at lunch during a hard working day and I decided it would be a good time to support Beefy King. I guess like 100 other people had the same thought because it was packed. I decided to play it safe and stay in the drive through. It took a while to order but it was so worth it. I ordered a roast beef and cheese with a side of spuds. Before starting my review, let me get the ball rolling by saying DAMN; what happened to all the roast beef sandwich joints?! Sadly, there are very few establishments out there, and not many of them aren't all that great. I happened to be in Orlando because I had a particular errand to run today and, after a 3 hour drive, how can you not stop for a meal?! Going inside, this place was jumping from the start. I ordered one XL beef sandwich with onions and cheese (starting at $5.55 for XL sandwich) ,and one regular roast beef sandwich platter ($8.75) which came to total $18.08. Starting with the pros: the prices I felt were highly reasonable for the portion sizes given , in house roast beef was absolutely succulent and shaved very well to my liking, and highly enjoyed the home made mild/hot bbq and horseradish sauce to accompany my order! Unfortunately, a well formulated au jus was lacking and I felt could completely transform the roast experience at Beefy King to a even higher level. A much better place than Arby's for a roast beef sandwich. Definitely add cheese. It's worth the extra few cents for a more gooey sandwich. The bread is so soft! and...they have TATOR TOTS! What more could you ask for? I haven't had their food at the restaurant because it's only open until 3PM (Drive-thru until 530PM) and I do not get off work until way after. There's a small parking lot available to its customers. However it was easy to find parking. They also have a drive thru window in the event you don't want to get out of your car! The physical space feels like it's family-oriented, historic and traditional diner. They have all of their awards on the wall-- well deserved awards night we add. The staff is extremely friendly. We shared that this was our first time here and they went above and beyond. Andrew ordered 2 roast beef sandwiches with cheese and onions. I ordered one junior roast beef with cheese. The meal came with a drink and tater tots. In true Andrew form... he drenched his first sandwich with hot sauce. We don't recommend that because the hot sauce was legitimately HOT. He drenched his second sandwich in radish which he claims was enjoyable. I didn't add any condiments to the sandwich and it was DELICIOUS! We both wanted to get another one but we also have to watch our spending. The lemonade and ice tea were really good! They are refillable if you so please. We sat to eat. I have driven by Beefy King a thousand times over the years and never paid much attention to it. Then one night I saw a segment on the news about the restaurant's 50th year in business. Everyone on tv raved about the place so we checked it out today. The beef and cheese sandwich is really good. When I put salt and pepper on my sandwich it sent it over the top. I've lived in Orlando for more than half of my life. I have passed this place so many times not knowing what deliciousness was inside! For whatever reason I decided to take a chance and try it. Just last week I had Arby's and I wanted another roast beef sandwich but I ended up on yelp and looked at this place. I got the courage to go. I get there and the line is soo long! I couldn't stay because my lunch break is only 30 mins but I told myself tomorrow I'll get there before lunch rush. I ordered a meal deal regular roast beef. I added cheese and onions tots and lemonade. The whole meal was amazing! I could not believe how many times I just passed up this place. Never again! This is my new go to. Everything is super fresh. (5/21/2019) Met my boss here for a working lunch, he got chicken (what??) and I, of course, had to get the beef. Went with the original Roast Beef, but am def looking forward to Pastrami next time. Beef was bloody (like I like it), well-seasoned, tender, juicy, and really, well, beefy. It really is shaved off the rump roast and you can tell. Love the creamy horseradish sauce for some zip. I luckily got a parking space in the lot (because someone pulled out). I could see fighting for a space being a serious detractor during the lunch rush.
