Stumbled upon this place while walking in Edgartown. I ordered a Thai iced tea and decided to grab a table to enjoy my tea. Tables are first come first serve. The Thai iced tea was really good. They have food here and a bar (the Hemingway). Super cute place.

Cute little spot for brunch. It's a fast casual place where you order at the register and they give you a # to bring your food out to your table. They had a mixture of high tables. The bar has water for you to help yourself. I got the shakshuka and it was delicious. It was very flavorful and the tomatoes were sweet. Def would recommend

Love Behind the Bookstore for breakfast and lunch but tried it for dinner for the first time this summer and it was pretty great. We loved the mushroom & shishito appetizer as well as the baby cauliflower & farro and the roasted half chicken. In a town full of ice cream choices it is also worth noting that their ice creams are delicious and worth ordering. The only quibble I have is that they seated us at a high top table and I wish when you made the reservation it would let you choose standard or high top. Nonetheless, I will absolutely be coming back for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Really wanted to like this place, the ambiance is great outside for dinner but mistake after mistake made it tough. We had a larger group but the restaurant wasn't packed and we were on the later end of the evening so people were leaving. We put our drinks in very quickly and they took an hour not to mention 4 people were sharing a bottle of wine which could've taken 2 minutes to get. Our appetizers also took a very long time. We tried to get our servers attention to just close our tab and we would go somewhere else with food but she disappeared and the manager ended up having to take over for her. They got us free bread and shots of something to make up for it which was a nice gesture. My order came out completely wrong (ordered the special for the night - prime rib and got the steak frites) still after this and some food was cold.

Probably the coziest breakfast spot on MVY. Best coffee on the island by far. Food is pretty good as well. Just be prepared to wait in line because it's always busy af.

We stopped into this cute little spot for coffee. Their caramel latte and red eye were tasty and the perfect late morning pick me up. The seating area was extremely cool, such a fun vibe and area to hang out in.

Literally located behind a bookstore with outdoor seating and a cute cafe for all your drinks and pastries needs. Ordered the cappuccino for $5.50 slightly small in size but decorated well and tasted delicious.

Great little outdoor spot to enjoy a casual breakfast or lunch. We visited twice during our stay in Edgartown and liked the food and atmosphere. You order at a counter and they deliver the food to you, so there isn't much to say on the service. As with most things in Edgartown, it is VERY expensive for what you are getting. There were two of us and we paid close to $100 for breakfast which was probably not worth that sticker price. I would return on my next visit to MV because I did really enjoy the outdoor seating area. Also, definitely get the pistachio croissant! You will not regret it.

They make their own chai for their iced chai lattes!!! There is plenty of outdoor seating in a garden setting with shade. You order inside.

Most amazing place I've ever been. The atmosphere is perfect and the people who work there are amazing! I moved to the vineyard recently and everyone at behind the bookstore has made me feel so at home. Not to mention their matcha and coffee are TO DIE FOR! Definitely stop in :) it is so worth it!

We loved this little gem so much we went 3 times on our girls trip. The breakfast, pastries and cocktails were all delicious and the staff were all friendly especially Jose and Miguel.

I ordered the fried grilled cheese sandwich. I only ate half cause I wanted to eat the rest later! That's how good it was!

This is a cute causal setting. Upon arrival they informed of 10-20 minute wait if I opted for counter dining. I agreed and was pleasantly surprised with a table that opened up within 10 minutes. We ordered the peach pancake special, chicken and waffles, and the Cowboy Up frittata. Presentation of the food is A+ Yet... My husband took one of bite of his chicken and made a strange face. He said it tasted "off". By the time I received my frittata and pancakes and bit into them, nothing had any flavor. Pancakes taste like they flipped bland flour and eggs, frittata as though not one lick of seasoning hit the batch of eggs. I started surveying the person next me because I was truly surprised. She said she's been going there for 10 years and the food is usually good. She recommended I say something, so I asked our server if I could speak with manager. I explained why to her and she returned stating that they have discounted the food. Soon after the ?chef came over. Rapidly asked what's wrong with the food. As I tried to explain, she kept cutting me off with a rebuttal. She eventually walked away interrupting the conversation. She then walks back, not sure if conviction hit her. She apologized saying sorry if it felt like i wasnt listening. I said that's exactly what it felt it. I said I didn't understand why she would come ask me for feedback if you weren't going to listen. She said she had several orders to take care of, and, yet again, prematurely ended the conversation. I'm not sure what purpose she was trying to serve, but there's nothing like having a terrible dining experience to then top it off with disrespectful staff.

We waited what felt like forever for our food and then my food (potato pancakes) came out about 10 minutes earlier than my husband's egg sandwich. The egg sandwich though was not really a sandwich as my husband had hoped for it was an English muffin on a plate with runny eggs placed over the top. It wasn't something that was worth waiting for. The staff were friendly enough and the vibe was fun and quirky. It might be worth it just to go for the scones and muffins which are already made.

And it was PACKED when I visited, so I had high hopes. Unfortunately, the food and drinks were a major letdown. I ordered the breakfast bowl, and for the price, it tasted like a pretty basic microwave meal. The eggs had that watery/sweaty texture you get from reheated food, the sausage tasted like a microwaved frozen patty, and I'm pretty sure the salsa was straight out of a Pace/Tostinos jar. Even the jalapeños were the pickled kind rather than fresh. For the price point, I expected something fresher and more thoughtfully prepared. I also ordered a shaken espresso, specifically because I wanted something coffee-forward with just a little milk. Instead, mine was overwhelmingly milky and barely tasted like espresso. Definitely not what I was hoping for. One other thing that really bothered me was the setup around the utensils -- the straws and forks were positioned right next to what appeared to be dirty/used water from the sanitation area. It just wasn't particularly appetizing or confidence-inspiring. I'm honestly surprised this place has such a strong local following because the experience just didn't live up to the hype for me. The garden is lovely and the atmosphere has potential, but at these prices, I expect significantly better food, drinks, and attention to cleanliness.
