I'm guess I'm weird but the attitude of the staff and the restrooms score third and fourth for me after food and cleanliness. ATE: Fried Chicken and Beignets FOOD: The food was superb and while I'm trying to cut down on fried foods, I couldn't resist! Everything was cooked well, tasty and not greasy at all and the beignets? What can I say? Fantastic! The only problem you'll probably have is not eating too many! VIBE: Laid back! The decor is minimal and casual and there was a bit of a line to order (meaning popular?). There's an area where you can stand and watch the beignets being made which I thought was very cool! The kitchen is kind of open and transparent also! There's a small area in front where you can eat but it only seats about 12 people? The dining area seats maybe 50. SERVICE: Excellent! I really liked the gentleman working the cashier! I had the sense that he was the owner(?) but I forgot to ask. He worked the room when he wasn't at the cashier and asked if the food was ok, did we need anything, etc. Give this man a raise! PRICES: Not bad, you get PLENTY of food! As long as the food is good I'm happy to pay and I thought the prices were reasonable! PARKING: A little tough and why this place isn't a five star for me. Had I tried this chicken without knowing what kind it was (supposed Jamaican "Jerk") I would just think it was a regular fried chicken. Barely a hint of any Jerk spices - which it usually has, and that was a disappointment. I love jerk chicken. The tomato jam added some hint of sweetness, but all was very underwhelming. The only other beignets I've had before were from Downtown Disney, but these are so much better (and not hollow, ifykyk). We wanted to try their banana pudding shake but unfortunately they didn't have any available (or any cold brew) at the time, but we'll definitely be back to try! This cute, hip spot is located across the street from Riverside City Hall, a few blocks south of Mission Inn, where I was staying. From the Inn, you can walk down the pedestrian plaza 3 blocks to City Hall to avoid vehicular traffic. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, and all meals come with 2 beignets minimum. They also offer classic boxed beignets (8 or 12 pack) and 6-pack artisan beignets (peach cobbler, bananas foster and berry). In the tradition of New Orleans, their coffee has chicory, both hot, cold brew and as a milkshake. I think the beignets are made to order. I ordered a breakfast beignet combo (4 beignets, grits, Andouille sausage, scrambled eggs) and the peach cobbler beignets. I'm not a coffee drinker, but some other patrons left without ordering when they were told there was no hot coffee, only cold brew. Now I've had beignets at New Orleans' iconic Cafe Du Monde, and locally I remember having them at the Beachcomber Cafe at Crystal Cove, Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney, and Joyce southern restaurant in downtown LA. I would rank Beignet Spot's third, after Cafe Du Monde and Beachcomber, both of which are lighter/fluffier. All are heavily doused with powdered sugar, a requirement. I think I prefer my beignets this way, without additional toppings/sweetness, although the peach cobbler topping was quite tasty. The grits lacked flavour (more butter please), but the sausage was fine, the eggs a bit overcooked. Overall a good spot for a beignet fix. read more

I was really disappointed at the quality of the beignets on my first, weekend morning visit. They just weren't as fluffy or as light as I have grown to know and love beignets for. It was a very slow time only one seated table and a second to-go order waiting along with myself. The shape and overall texture of the desserts lacked for me but I did really enjoy the sweet tea.
