I had been feeling nauseous on and off for the last few weeks. I thought it had passed till this past Monday evening when I started feeling off again. Come 3am Tuesday morning, I wake up with chills, vomiting, alllll (I mean all) the bad stuff. Tuesday was an episode unlike one I've experienced before. I was in severe pain with all the major symptoms of an ulcer or gastritis. A smarter person would have sought medical care sooner but stubborn and uninsured, I rode the struggle bus into Wednesday where I managed to recoup enough to stare at my laptop for work long enough to accept work was not happening that day. I tell myself if I'm feeling this terrible by Thursday, I'll go to urgent care. Unable to make it to Thursday and at war with myself over seeking western medicine, the overprescribing of drugs to cure symptoms instead of healing the root cause, and the bills that come with it, I search for an eastern medicinal practice. Lo and behold, I find Dr. Lina. I called her 30 minutes to her closing time Wednesday even and she tells me to come in at 5pm. Bless this woman. She is an angel. I swear I was knocking on some effed up version of death's door and she brought me back to life. After she prescribed me 3 days of Chinese herbal tea and meal recommendations, and we set a follow up for Thursday (today) morning. I've been coming to Beijing Healthcare for a couple months now for a few issues like trouble sleeping, energy, pain and also asthma.
