Holly is amazing. I first started coming to her when I had a strange issue where I couldn't smell properly (I kept smelling a chemical smell). I knew that if I went to my GP he'd just tell me it was an allergy of some sort and give me medication. I thought I'd try a different approach and try acupuncture. I'm so glad I did! I have had some chronic problems with my neck, but what really inspired my visit to Holly was my recent hip strain, which I got from running. She treated both my neck and my hip - it's so amazing how needles in your feet, hands and ears can work like they do! - and they are both feeling much better. Last visit, I literally limped in, and walked out with zero hip pain for over 24 hours. And even though it's back to aching a bit, it is WAY better than it was before I got treated. And also on the second visit, I asked Holly for some help with my TMJ (I'm a teeth-clencher, and I get periodic aches and pains in my jaw as a result), and I have had no aching at all for several days. I go to Megan for acupuncture. She is amazing. Very focused and listens to what you are saying. She always takes time at the beginning of the appointment to find out what is going on with you. She tailors the treatment to your needs. I have serious digestive and hormone issues and she has been a miracle worker with my inflammation. She orders herbs for me that have worked wonders. Beyond being late, rushing during treatment, being charged for every little thing (she charges for the use of her heat lamp), and having a office that smells of perfume, she does not talk with you to find out why you are there and what she can do to help. I have a friend that recently got so sick that he could not walk. We went to the emergency room and no results. I saw no real improvement with my knee pain after several sessions. After one of my sessions, I had some pain and it felt like something was tweaked. It took over a week for that discomfort to go away. I've have suffered from diverticular disease and IBS for almost 20 years, endured multiple surgeries, hundreds of hours in gastroenterologists offices, CT scans, sonograms, eight colonoscopies, a barium enema (joy of joys...not), extremely restrictive diets for years on end, and industrial-strength chemical products from virtually every pharmaceutical company in the country, incurring tens of thousands of dollars in medical expenses along the way. One major surgery helped quite a bit years ago, but my problems have persisted chronically and with frequent flare-ups for almost 20 years. In a few visits, Holly Goguen has done more for me than a small army of dedicated and gifted gastroenterology specialists has done in decades. Think about that. I am not kidding. I am barely even exaggerating. (Okay, maybe the drugs weren't quite industrial-strength, and there were too few doctors to make an army. Maybe just a phalanx.) If you suffer from serious gastro problems, you might understand how close to the edge this type of pain can push you over time. I have just started treatment for stress and getting constant colds and flus that last for, well, what seems like forever. I was a little nervous about acupuncture but nothing else has worked so far so I was pretty much up for anything at this point.
