I'm giving three stars because I know how damaging a one-star review can be for a small business, and I've had good meals here before. The noodle dishes at Beijing Noodle have been solid in the past. Unfortunately, the soups were really bad. My husband ordered the beef and broccoli soup and I ordered the wonton soup with noodles. Both broths were extremely watered down and completely lacked flavor. Mine tasted like pork water with seaweed. We kept taking a few bites hoping the flavor would show up, but it never did. Neither of us finished our bowls - we each had a small serving and threw the rest away. For about $40 for two soups and potato pancakes, it was a pretty disappointing meal. I was so impressed with my experience here! It's in a tiny strip mall in sleepy Fort Collins, but the noodles are very much awake! My friend comes in here a lot as he lives nearby, is Chinese, and knows the owner. We had tried a viral noodle spot in Denver the night before that was twice the price and half the flavor. Beijing noodle really hit the mark! There is a row of parking outside, and we had no problem finding a spot on a Saturday afternoon. We saw in a cozy booth, and the owner himself takes care of the customers. Everything feels so authentic. I started with a hot tea, which really hit the spot and the potato salad, which had the perfect amount of flavor, balance, and not too much soy sauce like in some places. We also tried the cabbage, the scallion pancake, the oil spill noodles, and the Henan gravy noodles. You really can't go wrong, they were some of the best I've ever had, my only desire was that they would put more meat on the noodle dishes. The tiny chunks were so scarce and left me wanting more in every bite. I would have also loved more scallions in the scallion pancake. But it was perfect to dip in the noodle oil and really soak up that flavor and juiciness. Everything was divine, the prices cannot be beat, the ambience feels clean and genuine, and there's nothing better than the feeling of supporting a local family business. Highly recommend. Oil spill noodles are to die for! I love this little spot and it's one of my favorite places in FoCo.

Placed and order to go and the food was ready quickly. The restaurant was full, but seemed cozy and had an overall good vibe. We got the smashed cucumber salad, green onion pancake, spice tofu, and the sichuan spicy wonton in chili oil to try a few different options. We were underwhelmed with the food. The sichuan spicy wonton and the spice tofu were bland and had little to no spice. We added sriracha, but still lacked flavor. I hate to write this review because I'd rather support small businesses and this restaurant has seemingly authentic flavors, but this was just not something we would be excited to eat again. The best part of the meal was the cucumber salad. The green onion pancake was a close second although it's pretty expensive for just one. read more

You can tell for yourself as soon as you walk in your nose buds will tell you this place can cook, and not the kind of Americanized Asian food. This is authentic Beijing cuisine. 5 stars to the food. 3 stars to the service, even though everyone is nice, it can take a while to be greeted at your table, and get water refills. I feel like the good reviews lied to me :( sichuan noodles had 0 spice let alone any tongue numbing sichuan pepper spice! They tasted like they used old peppercorns that had zero flavor except an overpowering staleness - I know because I've bought old sichuan peppercorns on accident before from a store that clearly didn't move stock fast. I love sichuan food and this was just plain noodles with stale ingredients to boot. The lunch platter was granted only $10 but the portion was still crazy small. Very Disappointed -- What Happened to This Place? I'm not sure what has changed, but this place has seriously gone downhill. The cleanliness has noticeably declined, the staff are unfriendly, and even the owner seemed disinterested and disengaged during our visit. First time here. I got the tea egg. It tasted like a regular boiled egg, the flavors were subtle. Main dish was the tendon noodle. Tendon was soft and melted in my mouth. The noodles were fresh and the broth was seasoned perfectly and I didn't have to add anything to the soup. Portions are large, good for the price. I guess I'm going to be an outlier in this review, but our lunch today was not very good at all. We had the Kung Pao lunch special and honestly, it wasn't good at all. The chicken was cut up in the very small cubes along with some cubed veggies, it just didn't look like a traditional Kung Pao chicken plate, in used to seeing chunks of chicken and chunks of vegetables. The sauce taste left kind of a bad taste in my mouth an hour or so after the lunch, nothing a good teeth brushing couldn't take care of. We asked for water but when it came there were flakes in the water. We didn't intend to drink any but I accidently took a drink and realized it was squeezed lemon. I first visited Beijing Noodle months ago after wanting something different and new (to me), as well as authentic. Almost all of the Yelp reviews I read raved about the Oil Spill noodles, so I decided I should give it a whirl! This cozy spot is located in a miniature strip mall next to a dry cleaner with plentiful, albeit it somewhat tricky to navigate, parking. I've ordered online twice and eaten in person once and highly recommend both! Service is friendly and prompt in both ways, and the food comes rushing out much faster than I would've expected, especially seeing how there's always been a pretty full restaurant each time I've stopped in! The Oil Spill noodles are out of this world delicious - tender and abundant with a perfect amount of spice and the Sichuan peppercorns that make your tongue go slightly numb. Adding the pork is a MUST if you're not vegetarian - soft crumbles of pure flavor, and perfectly steamed broccoli to balance out the silky oil. This last time, I went for the Wuhan noodles with sesame and peanut paste, again topped with pork, and while they were absolutely delectable the first night, they lost some of their spark the second night and dried out a bit. Don't worry, I'm still working through them - we're on night three of leftovers with plenty more to go, and I'm not mad about it! My husband got the Henan gravy noodles after perusing the pictures online, and wasn't disappointed. Thin house-made noodles stir fried with a slightly sweet bean sauce and a generous amount of salt to balance it out. One thing I have to note is the prices - this place is CHEAP! Especially for the mountains of food that you get! Three massive dishes put us just over $35 ($42 after tipping), and we're still trying to finish what's left. Visiting my mom and sister, coming from Texas, I was hungry for some genuine Chinese food. Food wise, is more of a 2 star as most were bland and didn't have much authenticity as a true Beijing restaurant. The waiter was nice, and surprisingly spoke very good Chinese with us. Then the owner stopped by and was friendly. So the 3 star was really more on service. Food wise, this place is overrated as it's just basic Americanized Chinese restaurant in a small town. Beijing Noodle is a place that I want to like so much more than I do, based upon what I have tried so far. The owner is so nice, and it's clear that it must be authentic based upon the number of Chinese students from CSU I see every time I stop in. I have a feeling that I am just missing something ... maybe I need a Chinese friend to just take me under their wing and show me how authentic Beijing-style food is best enjoyed. I've tried some things that other Yelpers have raved about - the beef soup noodles, the oil slick noodles, other noodle dishes that escape me at the moment - and while I find the noodles themselves to be really good, somehow the preparations just don't come together for me. I was hoping that the beef soup would remind me of the unctuous, long-simmered soups I had in Hong Kong (yes, I know Hong Kong is a long way from Beijing, but it's my only frame of reference), but there is just something missing. I loved the chewiness of the wide oil slick noodles, but to me the flavors of the dish were overpowered by a raw garlic flavor. I wish I could just buy noodles to prepare for myself at home. While the noodle dishes are not for me, I do have to say that I've enjoyed the lunch specials at Beijing Noodle. You do have to accept that there is one special for the day, not the dozen or so offered daily that you will see at the American Chinese restaurants around town, and that when it is gone it is gone. It is relatively inexpensive, comes with a generous serving of rice and a vegetable of the day. I particularly enjoy the special when they are serving ma po tofu and roasted chicken. I've also enjoyed the Chinese hamburger - a yeasted bun sliced and filled with pork belly - which makes for a tasty, inexpensive light lunch. If I'm feeling hungry I'd get the scallion pancakes, too. Although I don' t seem to get the mainstays for this restaurant, I do appreciate that they bring something unique to Fort Collins and hope they continue to do well. read more

Soooo good! In town for a conference and had dinner with a friend who lives in Denver. Searching Yelp we found this hidden gem. Small and unassuming, we could tell that we had made the right choice as soon as we walked in. The smells were intoxicating! It was hard to decide but we wound up getting the pan fried pork dumplings, pork wonton soup and the oil spill noodles. EVERYTHING was delicious! Piping hot, the dumplings were filled with meat and juicy. The pork soup was also delicious, with the wontons, noodles, scallions and seaweed. The broth was so flavorful I could eat that alone. The real winner, however was the oil spill noodles. Tender noodles made fresh in house with the most delicious chili flavored sauce and ground pork. I came in expecting something similar to Fujian-style Ban mian but this tasted completely different. The entire dish was DRENCHED with sesame and peanut sauce that when I lifted all the noodles, there was a pool of sauce. I kept mixing and mixing, hoping the sauce would eventually go away, but to no avail. I finished the noodles but left a good amount of food remaining due to it being in a soup of salty sauce. As we sat and waited for our food, a steady stream of student-aged patrons were coming and going from the restaurant. I ordered the Wuhan Noodles with Hot Sesame and Peanut Paste and a green onion pancake appetizer. The noodle portion was so large it lasted me 3 days. It was really tasty, though I wish there had been some additional protein on it. The pancake was flaky, greasy, and delicious. Next time I'd probably split the entree and the appetizer because we ended up with too much food!
