They gladly worked with me to make a sushi roll with lobster tempura and asparagus inside of an eel-wrapped roll. The lobster was crunchy and tasty along with the fresh vegetables. We moved to Hanover and this place was only 15 min from our house. It has a little bit of everything for Asian cuisine- Japanese, Thai and Chinese. My husband had the spicy tuna sushi and pad Thai- he said it was good but it did taste on the sweeter side and was hoping for somewhat of a spice. I had the chicken teriyaki bento box- they forgot my rice and the chicken was a little dry. The sauce was more liquidy like soup than a thicker version of teriyaki. My kids had the sesame chicken with rice and that was actually really good. It reminded us of a Chinese restaurant we went to closer to our old home. That was probably the best part of the meal and it was enough for two meals for both kids so that's a plus. Will wonders never cease? Nestled within the tiresome strip mall on Bell Creek road lays a quaint little place called Bell Hut. The name is rather bromidic but the thankfully the cuisine is not. I'll be honest. I did not want to try this place. I found it using the Yelp app and noticed it had a perfect 5 start rating but only 7 reviews. Yesterday was a Monday and our "go to" place for Pad Thai was closed. Our options were limited and we were not in the mood to be disappointed. Despite my objections my girlfriend forced us inside anyway. It's a cozy little spot to be sure. Dinner for two or a party of four will work the best. My girlfriend and I put them to the test immediately ordering Thai tea and two of their soups. I played it safe and ordered Miso and Shan went for broke and got the Thai coconut soup with chicken. After just one taste we knew this place was going to be a winner. They didn't cut corners and I appreciate that. My miso soup was loaded with tofu and seaweed. Both soups were a symphony of flavor. I've never had Thai coconut soup, after trying this one; the bar is now set incredibly high. The entrées came next, Singapore noodles for me and beef Pad Thai for the lady. It's hard to put into words how we felt about the dishes. Our expectations were very guarded. It was like watching the season finale of a TV show. You might get complete garbage like Dexter, HIMYM, and the X-Files... *OR* you could get something wonderfully satisfying like the finale of Breaking Bad or Mad Men. I'm pleased to say the food was wonderfully satisfying. The Pad Thai had a wonderful depth of flavor. My Singapore noodles weren't dry and over seasoned like "that other place" it could not have been more satisfying. We both breathed a sigh of relief. Just finished takeout from Bell Hut and it was 12/10. I was first a little standoffish due to the pricing, but once receiving the food, it was 100% worth it. I picked up dinner for my parents and husband. My husband got the chicken hibachi which comes with the protein, fried rice, veggies, soup, AND a salad. It was awesome. My dad got the beef basil stir fry and my mom got the chicken broccoli stir fry-- both were very good. I ordered the spicy girl roll. The best sushi roll I've had was from this incredible place in the center of Hollywood, CA, and this was a close second. We just moved from the city back to Mechanicsville and so relieved we have a yummy sushi spot to frequent. Another important thing I'll comment on is how great of a system they have due to the pandemic. I called in my order and received a text with an order number as soon as it was done. Very good! The staff was nice and greeted us immediately when we walked in. We decided to stop here on our way from DC to Chesapeake and were starved. I got my usual: spicy trio which I was delighted to see it consisted of spicy tuna, spicy salmon and spicy yellowtail! Typically the third one is a filler roll (aka California roll). The presentation was lovely and the protein to rice ratio was just right! I didn't realize until halfway through our meal that we received a free edamame or spring roll when we checked in. Upon entering the restsurant we were greeted with warm smiles. We checked in and got the free appetizer ( 3 Spring Rolls with Sweet Chili Sauce ). Food: The spring rolls were filled with cabbages and carrots which were light and airy and were the perfect little appetizors before our sushi boat (see picture). Coming out, the food was aesthetically pleasing to the eye (and camera). Portion-wise, both the boat and appetizer was enough to satisfy the both of us. The fish itself was perfectly delicious. The only thing that disappointed us was the rice which was a little bit dryer than what you would expect with sushi and tasted like regular white rice (didn't taste any of the rice vinegar). When i called to place my order the gentleman on the phone was very nice and even repeated my order back to me. So, I was confident I'd picked a good spot based on the service before arriving. That same service was evident when I arrived to pick up my take out order, which doesn't always happen. Two wins for service. Anyway, ordered the lunch chicken hibachi and it was decent. Not the best I'd had especially for the price at lunch, but for this area I think it's good. Definitely tasty enough and reliable for a consistent meal and service.
