Came in here on a hot day from rockwood park. The place was empty and we thought about going somewhere else as it was warm inside as well. We decided to stay and I got the sushi lunch and my husband got the hibachi lunch. They both came with salads which was a pleasant surprise but the pre portioned dressing was separated a bit. The gyoza was delicious. The sushi was warm which I'm honestly not a huge fan of but still very good. My husband said his meal reminded him of beef and broccoli and was disappointed by the steak. Cheap food for the price. Rice was really dark, I'm not sure if it's always like that or if it was burnt? It wasn't visually appealing and didn't taste like fried rice, it had no flavor. I got a tempura shrimp sushi roll which said it was cucumber and shrimp, I asked for cream cheese instead of cucumber and ended up with avo in it somehow as well. We really used to love this place for to go hibachi. The last two times we ordered the hibachi was super greasy and oily. The food is always ready quickly and they're always very nice. I'll still order some sushi to go as it's a fast and close option, but we won't be ordering hibachi from them anymore. The sushi is nothing special and the rolls aren't large, but they're affordable and satisfy a quick craving. They do have lunch combos for sushi which we get as the price makes sense. read more

Update... I have been back a few times since the first review. And I am upgrading them to 4 stars because they have done a great job of accommodating my requests and things that I wanted with my meal. Also I think they heard some of the feedback and you can get lunch specials for a couple of dollars more and it's a good deal. I had the hibachi and I really like the chicken hibachi. I don't eat rice, but the chicken and veggies are great! I think they are making changes in the right direction to compete with the others in the area and it's fast. First, I have been so excited for this place to open. It pains me to give them a 3 and the reason they get a 3 is because of location. It is so close to my house I would still eat here, but only if I didn't feel like fighting traffic to go somewhere else. Here are the ways I evaluate a restaurant: 1. Food quality and cost - I had sushi and the coconut shrimp roll. The salmon sushi was a good quality, it wasn't Martin's sushi grade, but the price was too high for a takeout restaurant. I paid the same price for these rolls that I pay at a really nice sit down restaurant. They don't have the overhead cost with staff, decor, or plating but the same price. My husband had steak hibachi. He said it was ok. It was 12.99 so lower in price than the traditional hibachi restaurant, but he said the flavor wasn't there. He said he would have it again because it's close to the house, but the yum yum sauce was more like mayo than the other sauces. If the sushi prices were lower they could get more people. But another fast food sushi restaurant just opened near by and their price value is much better and in line with the atmosphere. 2. Atmosphere - there isn't any... This is like a fast food take out for sushi and hibachi. Love the idea but the prices should reflect the atmosphere. 3. Service - it was quick so that was an advantage over the other restaurants. I wish those that were running it were more engaged with me, but that's ok. I love the places that get to know customers. Welcome glad you came let me explain our menu we just opened... Just more your points with the customer. Look I'm not giving up.... I really need a good sushi/hibachi place by the house but I'm worried the price of the sushi is too high and they aren't going to make it. I will be back... Great sushi place. Have been here a few times sushi is Rock solid compared to other places in Chesterfield area. Got the Sakura roll, highly recommend it! Be warned a bit spicy. Also got salmon rolls. They are more salmon then rice which is a plus for me. For a strip mall place don't hesitate to stop there for a quick bite. For perspective it's not akida level sushi but much better then places like sushi-o. read more

Ordered through their site (really easy with all the options available) including payment online. Conveniently told when it would be ready too. We ordered three hibachi express plates (includes small cup of salad with dressing, vegetables and fried rice but for $1 more you can get noodles and $.50 you can get yum-yum sauce) - one steak cut in cubes, one beef cut in wide strips, and one just vegetable (meaning no meat and more veggies). Vegetables for hibachi included mushrooms, zucchini, onions, carrots, broccoli and several more things. The hibachi fried rice, meat and vegetables came in a smaller than what I expected container about the same size you usually get for Chinese combination plates; was really hoping to get the portions that fit in a large styrofoam container so we were disappointed. The sushi I ordered was a spicy salmon roll which came in a small square styrofoam container and I expect shifted in transit because the presentation was less than stellar and not superb in flavor, but given I got it takeout and not exactly freshly served ... I can't complain too much. Nevertheless, during this quarantine/pandemic/social distancing, my wife has found other places offering hibachi (but no sushi) that had better flavor and portions for the same price, but unfortunately further away from us. I am happy to see this place open (as it is closer), and plan to try it again later. read more

I seriously love this place, it's like a 5 minute drive from my house and their prices are amazing. I got the hibachi steak and shrimp lunch special and it was only $7. They have a little sitting area but we always get it to go. Staff is super friendly and really fast. read more

One of my favorite spots in Chesterfield. Both the Hibatchi and Sushi are great. The owners/staff are always friendly and welcoming, they even remember the details of my usual order when I call and forget the "add-ons". A decent value for the money, which is a fleeting thing these days, however I do not appreciate paying extra for Yum-Yum sauce as it (for me anyway) makes the dish (cause I'm a sauce lover). I can't imagine that a little extra sauce would cause them a set back. Dear Mr./Mrs. Owner, I suggest that you provide at least the first 2 yum-yum sauces for free ... cause it's costing you a STAR on this review. read more

Came in for a quick bite. Bought the spicy tuna roll, tuna avocado roll with 2 orders of tuna sushi (nigiri) all for about $20. All good with larger than normal cuts of fish, so I was pleased. It's a small place for mostly takeout. So doesn't offer saki (that I saw). But they offer sushi classes which is different. And even a recipe on how to make sticky rice. Will return read more

Along my journey towards sampling some of the hibachi/Asian dishes that restaurants in RVA have to offer, I stumbled across Hibachi & Sushi Grill. Historically speaking, my Hibachi experience is somewhat limited. I've been to Kabutos a handful of times as well as a a Hibachi place near the Walmart off Forest Hill Avenue. So I was going into this experience knowing what I liked and knowing what quality Hibachi food taste like. So how did my experience go? To find out, read below: The Good: The Price- I ordered the Chicken Fried Rice. Many places in the RVA are charging $9+ for their portions of Chicken Fried Rice. This restaurant charges $7.99, which isn't the cheapest price, but is reasonable nonetheless. The Bad: Taste- This Chicken Fried Rice was extremely bland, and looked like it was fried just enough for the white rice to change colors .The chicken, while real, did not appear to have been cooked with the fried rice and did not appear to have much to any seasoning to it. There was also corn in the fried rice, which was a huge WTF moment. And the rice was lukewarm. Portion Size- The meal that I purchased was the equivalent to a small order of Chicken Fried Rice (portion wise) from your average run of the mill Asian inspired restaurant. After consuming this meal I was still somewhat hungry. Overall- After having the fried rice from Kabuto's and the Hibachi place over near that Walmart, I kinda set my bar low for what good chicken fried rice from a Hibachi spot should taste like. And somehow this restaurant couldn't not even meet those expectations. I would not recommend that anyone get the chicken fried rice from this place. TWO STARS. read more

First of all the menu doesn't tell you within every role so there was some thing I was allergic to in a roll and I had to take Benadryl for it. My sister ordered a cucumber and avocado roll and she's allergic to shrimp but they package the shrimp tempura and the cucumber and avocado roll together. The crab Rangoon was crab less I searched through all of them looking for the crab I found none. I'm disappointed and unsatisfied with my order. We've been ordering sushi from here for a couple of years, never had a problem until now. Most of our mango avocado and California rolls had rotting avocado. Not just vascular leaching - a lot of brown, slimy, and even black avocado. Attaching a photo of some of the rolls but I didn't get a photo of the worst of it. This is my second visit and I must say I am hooked. I ordered a hibachi steak and shrimp, Gyoza, and a blue crab roll. My wife ordered the steak and scallops again. First let me say that this place cooks and serves FRESH food. You know its fresh when you do smell the seafood. To me nothing is worse than opening your steak & shrimp or scallops and stinking up the whole house. Well that is NOT the experience you have here. This stuff is FRESH, perfect smell, perfect texture, and perfect taste. The Gyoza was perfectly cooked pork dumplings that simply melted in my mouth. Pretty decent sushi here everything tasted fresh and clean. Ordered to go, got Rainbow Rolls and Spicy Tuna Rolls. Price and portion was spot on. My only complaints is the pickled ginger and wasabi tasted like it was direct from a can/tube. Well that and they forgot to include chop sticks in my bag. As I was staying at a hotel had to eat them with my fingers which isn't ideal. I can't speak for any of the hibachi items.. but the sushi was good. read more
