We've gotten only takeout hibachi, sushi, dumplings and spring rolls here, but each time the food has been very flavorful and well prepared. Their chicken is the most tender I've ever had for hibachi, the rice is fluffy, yum yum sauce is divine. We get cali roll & tempura rolls repeatedly. You won't be disappointed! read more

Decent food for the incredibly remote area of Powhatan. The main issue is a lack of transparency on prices of items. Not a single item has a price on the menu above the cash register. Was definitely overcharged for my meal because other people paid less for the same items. Shrugged it off because all that tells me is to not give my business to Osaka ever again and not recommend it. If you are the owner please realize price transparency is incredibly important in a small community where word of mouth of your business spreads. read more

Hibachi is quite yummy, but a little on the pricey side, in my opinion. Yum yum sauce is also very good. Build a void when Desiring Hibachi but not wanting to go closer to midlothian. read more

This is the best sushi place I've ever been in, the quality is exquisite. They prepare it well and I love the salmon and tuna rolls. That's all I get. And it's not overly expensive. The hours are convenient. Solid 4.5 to 5 stars. I stop by there every chance I get. read more

My husband and I always order take out from Osaka's, as it's fast and insanely affordable. The las vegas roll never lets me down. My husband gets the hibachi beef or chicken and it is always pretty good besides all the onions (he doesn't like too many onions). The service is pretty straightforward, they just take your order and give you a time, but when you go in, they are usually pleasant. The vibe is nice. read more

I am a regular at what is my favorite Resturaunt in town, Osaka. The lady behind the counter is always so cheery and nice and super friendly towards my mother and I when we come in to eat. The Mrs. and I came here for dinner tonight. We got the Spicy Tuna roll, California roll, Dragon roll and Veggie Tempura. I'll go from worst to best: The Spicy tuna roll wasn't all that spicy. I'm used to enough heat from a spicy roll to make my scalp sweat a bit, and although it had good flavor the heat just wasn't there. The California roll was good. The veggies in it had plenty of crunch, and the sesame seeds added a nice pop. The Vegetable Tempura was crisp on the outside, tender on the inside. The sweet potato was our favorite out of the mix. The Dragon roll was outstanding. Again, fresh veggies, and the fish was delicious. Portion sizes were good, rather on the large side. The staff was friendly and helpful. The shop was neat, clean and well lit. Total for all the dishes plus a side of rice came to under $30 after the tip. We'll be back for more. read more

Was really looking forward to this place opening once I found out about it since I've been wanting a Japanese restaurant closer to Powhatan for a while now and they didn't disappoint. Since they just opened and I haven't sampled the whole menu yet, what I did try (the Deluxe Bento) was great! The meal was flavorful and filling. For a little under $10 you get a heck of a lot of food, at least compared to other takeout places nearby. And the sushi was as good as any I've experienced. The only complaint I would have is the lack of some common sushi rolls found elsewhere. Also it would be nice if they allowed for custom rolls. Maybe this will change over time. Anyway, I would highly recommend this place for your Japanese fix. read more

Ordered online for pickup was quoted 20 mins and it was ready when I got there! Nice, clean restaurant. I got home and was pleasantly surprised with the size of everything. I ordered the hibachi chicken and the California roll. Ate about half of everything and I'm stuffed! Prices were about average to other places, can't complain! Everything was delicious. I want to explore the menu some more but so far so good! Will be back! read more

We love Osaka and eat here more often than we should probably admit to. (The pork dumplings are a weakness.) Two out of four of us love their sushi rolls. Everything is always fresh and flavorful with plenty of ginger and wasabi to clear the sinuses. My favorite is the bento boxes - either the regular or the deluxe which includes shrimp & veggie tempura. The tempura is some of the best I've tried on this side of the country. There is a wide variety to choose from. Either rolls, hibachi, teriyaki, tempura - it's always good. The sticky rice is perfect. The service is friendly and the food is always fresh to order. I hope they stay around a long, long time. While Powhatan has no shortage of Asian restaurants, Osaka stands out with its Japanese menu. read more

Yes, it is a small place in a strip mall that is not filled with decor and lavish booths. What they may lack in decor will never be missed once you get your food. My daughters' favorite sushi place and a great place for Japanese food that is fresh and flavorful. Always VERY prompt and efficient. My personal favorite is the teriyaki chicken deluxe Bento box, or any of the sushi rolls. Crisp veggies and good, hot, fresh food. highly recommend. read more

We frequent Osaka for take out. Our "go-to's" are the Hibachi dishes. It's a huge serving size for around $7-$8 and is ready to pick-up in 15 minutes. I always have enough for lunch the next day. My only complaint is that they don't include many veggies! I'd ask for double veggie next time. read more

I was really excited to try this restaurant as I love Japanese food. I ordered the Teriyaki Tofu, shrimp tempura and the miso soup. I was VERY DISSAPOINTED with everything. The shrimp tempura was pretty good but the rest was awful. I threw it away! The Tofu was HUGE hunks covered in some kind of batter (?) and was not fully cooked. The Veggies that came with it were bland. The Miso soup was very salty and very different than all the other Miso I have had. Maybe I just ordered a dish their not used to cooking ( tofu ) regardless it was BAD :( I will not be recommending. This is probably the worst sushi I have ever eaten. The California roll tasted not fresh, and the spicy mayonnaise was horrible! Tasted sour..the staff was also sour. They were extremely rude to me and I was extremely disappointed. They need some help on how to make sushi. Never coming to this place again. read more

Pretty decent Sushi! We've tried almost every roll. There are some favorites the hot lover's roll, las vegas roll, and the Okaska roll. We also got the hibachi chicken lunch. There was tons and tons of rice, not a lot of vegetables like we are use to. The prices were okay as well. so overall a nice little find. Will definitely be back! read more
