If there is a sight to see in Downtown Santa Fe it is the Bell Tower Bar. Towering views (no pun intended) but seriously awesome place to stop off during your tour of the square after some major shopping to recoup and have a drink. I have never bothered to write negative reviews but I am making an exception. I have been visiting Sante Fe and this bar for many years. The draw is the view as the food and drinks are mediocre. My wife and I were confronted by the manager/receptionist after we joined a family at their table, and they were happy to have us, and were told we had to wait for 15 minutes for our own table. We were ordered to leave the table and it went downhill from there. The attitude was confrontive and ugly. We were then told we can never come back. Trust me, this has NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. We look forward to going to the Bell Tower every time we visit Santa Fe. The drinks are great, the food is good and the view can't be beat! Make sure you call ahead if the weather is questionable- they close at the first sight of gray skies. It's open from 11am until 8pm. It's small and limited seating, so plan accordingly. When they first opened, the service was not so great But that's been a few years. We went this past wknd and have no complaints. If you want a lovely view - go to Tower Bell If you want an alcoholic beverage - stay away. We ordered two different kinds of Margaritas, My theory is that the bartender passed the bottle of Tequila over the drinks, and skipped putting any in. It was so watered down it was a joke. When we mentioned it to the waitress (who didn't seem surprised)_, she took $2.00 off the drinks. If you're doing to charge $12.00 for a Margarita, and want locals to come back, there must be an improvement on the quality of the drinks served. Right now, I'd not recommend it to anyone. read more

I really want to give the Bell Tower a better rating, but that service is just bad. They're friendly and all, but beyond slow. I think I waited at least 20 minutes for my waiter to bring my check after I asked him for it and he walked by me many times without even acknowledging me. I can't imagine a better place to have a drink while watching the sunset than the Bell Tower. A couple of key tips: 1. Look up what time the sun sets and get there early. Everyone else in Santa Fe has the same idea you do. This isn't some hidden, super secret spot. 2. Dress very warmly. 65 degrees sounds pleasant enough, but when paired with 25 MPH winds, it feels more like 45 degrees. If you get there early as recommended, they have a limited number of blankets which are key in making this an enjoyable experience. read more

My GF and I stayed at La Fonda and decided to head up to the bell tower for sunset, which we heard was nice. We got up there around 7:40. No one was at the host stand but soon came the manager, Karin. She told us that we couldn't stay long cause last call was at about sunset. Which was fine we only wanted one drink, yet it felt like she didn't want our business. She sat us and we were quickly greeted my our server marissa. She had a tray full of drinks but she said she'd be right back to suggest some of her favorites. The atmosphere was chaotic but due to it being so close to sunset we expected that. The view was amazing. Marisa came back quickly and told us a little bit about the menu, something called the margarita trail, and what her favorite cocktails were. My wife got the sunset and I got the mana margarita, which was on the margarita trail. Both were too sweet and way too expensive but the view was incredible and the service was great. We could tell Marissa was very busy yet still attentive and kind. The sunset was beautiful but it was pretty windy and cold so definitely suggest coming with a jacket. read more

If you're hoping for a bell tower like at a church, guess again. It's more like a covered area on the patio with no bell. The pillars for the covered area are also bulky so they block much of the view. It's also a stretch to call it a "lounge". It's an outdoor bar with metal patio furniture. Regardless, the fifth-floor rooftop bar at the La Fonda Hotel was a nice visit and has some very good margaritas. read more

Oddly enough, even though I grew up here and have been living here the past six years, I've never even eaten or had a drink at La Fiesta Lounge. It always looks lively and fun though. The Bell Tower though, that's something else. Truth be told I wish they'd do something a lot nicer. It's a rooftop with patio furniture and drinks in Dixie cups. I think the spot and the entire reason it exists - to watch gorgeous sunsets - justifies something much more elaborate - but no matter. I go up there all the time when I have visitors or have a date. Scenery beautiful, service horrendous. Computers were broke so it took them 40 minutes to give us two patron and tonic drinks.we also ordered chips and salsa, but were told after 50 minutes that the chef was gone and they could not bring them to us for a while. Great spot for a drink while enjoying the view over santa fe, I recommend sitting at the rail to appreciate the view. They have a limited food menu but we were happy with our choices. Our server was excellent and quickly gave us the chance to replace our local wine selection with something more palatable. Well worth a visit. read more

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE AN OUT OF STATE VERTICAL ID! Despite being 23 and having a valid California license they will lie to you and tell you they cannot serve you due to New Mexico law regarding vertical IDs HOWEVER if you look at the verbiage in the law it's specifically regarding New Mexico vertical drivers licenses or IDs. We were prepared to drop some serious cash on some margaritas since it was the end of our trip and we wanted a romantic night together. This was the ONE thing I truly had my heart set on doing in Santa Fe to watch the sunset over the city. If it were law we wouldn't be able to be served anywhere yet here we are at the rooftop pizzeria which I 10/10 recommend for good craft beers and amazing food. ***updating to reply and say that it is NOT the law I've spoken to various bartenders/owners/and even someone studying law and this is just a misconstrued version of a law pertaining to New Mexico vertical IDs. To say I won't be served statewide is simply false as I'm served frequently. I would rather an establishment own up and just say they won't serve a vertical ID for the sake of being safe from stings rather than trying to blame it on a law. And if that is the case it needs to be advertised either on your website or menu so that patrons like myself don't waste my time and money just getting to your establishment. read more

Bell tower Bar is the Best sunset view in downtown Santa Fe. I can see why they call it Land of Enchantment. Not a lot of beverage selection and get there early for a table. The go downstairs for dinner. read more
