My favorite banh mi in all of Hawaii! The bread is very important and the French bread is made perfectly! Nice and crispy on the outside and nice soft on the inside and not full of dough, The balance is great. The goodies inside are well balanced also. So you get everything with each bite. They also have a few pre made items. If you like strong Vietnamese iced coffee it's strong here. The service is top notch also. Both husband and wife are the owners and do it all here. They're a very cute couple and super friendly and nice. They're both are Vietnamese so that explains the authentic flavors. The parking is right behind the building. This is more a pick up and go place. I always stop by here before I hit the beach or do anything that needs a packed lunch (ask for no mayo so it doesn't spoil if you're out all day, still amazing without it). The Veggie Bahn Mi sandwich was deliciously fresh a little kick of heat from the jalapeños. The sandwich as filled with lots of shave carrots and tofu. The baguette is nice and chewy with a great crispy crust. The BBQ Chicken Bahn Mi is filled with an intense smoky flavored tender chicken. The kick from the jalapeños is delicious. I also treated myself to a Black Tea Lemonade with Lychee Jelly. The drink was tart and sweet with little chewy jellies and perfectly refreshing. The shop is locally owned. The staff is friendly and hustles to keep orders coming. Prices are reasonable with sandwiches at $12.50. The shop has no dine-in tables, just a carry out counter. One of the cleanest Banh Mi's I've had. Besides the obvious crumbs you get biting into the bread, all the veggies and meats were packed nicely with no messy strays falling out even while eating. I got the Saigon Special. I didn't get to eat it fresh because I got it in the morning for lunch so I can't really give my full opinion on the flavor, but it was still good and meat/veggie ratio were great - there wasn't anything overpowering the other. The size was also just right for the price while also perfectly filling. Also got the Vietnamese Coffee - not too strong but still good. Parking is kinda weird. There are two stalls in the back designated for them but they're not next to each other... and they were taken even though I was the only customer when I came. Picked up a sandwich from here on my way to the airport and I wish I got like 4 more sandwiches! Perfectly toasted bread with the right amount of veggies and chicken. Thanks to Craig T for taking my wife and I to this little shop. We were going out for lunch and my wife said she wanted a BBQ Chicken Banh Mi Sandwich for dinner.So he dropped me off in front of the shop so I could pickup a couple of Sandwiches. I was disappointed at the Banh Mi selection. Only four to choose from. They did have the BBQ Chicken, but not what I was looking for. So I decided to try the BBQ Pork Banh Mi. Came and got the pork banh mi its was tasty and delicious, the pickled veggies were crunchy and added a nice kick there were a few jalapeños but it didn't overpower with heat. In fact i wished there were more jalapeños! The pork was tender and the bread very crispy and crusty. I also got a Vietnamese iced coffee which was very smooth and delicious. My total for both was $18 and change so pretty decent for a lunch meal. It's a very small hole in the wall place so there's no place to eat inside basically just a counter as you enter. There's a parking lot out back but they share it with a few of the surrounding businessss and housing so look at the sign and make sure you're parking in the correct spot. As of today you can park in stalls 2,5, and 8. They may change over time so check the sign. There's also a few road side spots down the road, just pay attention to where you can and can't park. Service was quick and prompt. My order was ready in minutes after i ordered. I think this is my favorite banh mi spot in HI. Since there's no place to eat inside we took it to a nearby park to sit down on a bench and eat. The Saigon special has pate which if you don't know what it is, don't look it up until after you've tried it. For me, the pate is what holds the sandwich together, ties it all up into a big bow for the belly. The pickled veggies give it that tang, and the meats are a perfect portion. The summer rolls are also tasty, with that peanut sauce for dipping. They also serve bowls and plates, definitely call and order ahead so when you get there, it's good to go. Two of my friends raved about Bella Banh Mi Cafe so I had to go give them a try. I've passed by a few times but never realized they have parking in the back. It's not the biggest parking lot so if it is full, you will have to look for street parking. There is about 12 stalls and 1 handicap stall available. The restaurant is cozy and their menu is simple. Takeout only as there is only a counter to order from and the kitchen in the back. They only have 4 options for Banh Mi! That's perfect because usually a place like this focuses on what they are good at and usually doesn't disappoint. Banh Mi is in their name of the restaurant so I had to order that. I ordered 1 Saigon Special Banh Mi and 1 BBQ Pork Banh Mi. For good measure, I also ordered 1 Shrimp and Pork Summer Roll because several reviews said to order it if they are not sold out. They quoted me a 5-6 minute wait but it took them just a blink of an eye to get my order out. Both Banh Mi sandwiches came with jalapeño, cilantro, pickled carrots and daikon and cucumbers inside a fresh baguette. The Summer Roll came with the typical peanut dipping sauce. I thought the BBQ Pork Banh Mi pork meat was well seasoned with a nice grilled flavor to it. The Saigon Special had a nice mix of flavors. Their Summer Roll was huge and refreshing. I did see 1 BBQ Pork Summer Roll available and passed on it since I ordered a BBQ Pork Banh Mi but I think it would be delicious now after trying their BBQ Pork. This is a great spot to pick up food from to bring on your flight! They said they can put the veggies on the side to keep the sandwich from getting soggy. Owned by husband and wife team, Thomas and Alex Le Tran, the restaurant was named after their daughter, Bella, and opened on 11/17/2019. Originally from Viet Nam, wife Alex works in the kitchen, while hubs Thomas is in the front, taking your orders and payment, and packaging your items for takeout. The initially offered a simple menu of banh mi sandwiches and later expanded to summer rolls and vermicelli bowls. Bella Banh Mi is known for their Vietnamese sandwiches, and their simple current sandwich menu includes: Saigon Special (pate, Vietnamese ham, pork belly); BBQ pork; BBQ chicken; and vegetarian (tofu, roasted rice, cabbage, carrots, leek). All sandwiches come with generous amounts of cilantro, sweet and sour pickled carrots/daikon, and jalapeno slices. I've tried their BBQ pork and BBQ chicken banh mi, and both are excellent! Lots of smoky, charred flavor in the pork and chicken that are juicy and well-seasoned and complement the crisp, veggies. I was a bit skeptical since the price is pretty high for a banh mi being at $10.50 each with only 4 options: Saigon Special, Bbq Pork, Bbq Chicken, and Vegetarian. There's really not a menu they just have a chalkboard so I'm assuming either their menu changes or they offer ver limited options. I saw a sparse tray in the back near the register that had a tray of spring rolls order and another item so I'm assuming those are offered throughout the day until they sell out. They are very tight meaning you only have room to walk in and order and pay. The sandwiches are premade which is nice so there's no wait. As soon as we ordered and paid, we got the food. It wasn't soggy or anything either. I got the Special and Bbq Pork. They were both really good surprisingly but the special was my favorite.
