While not the most pleasing atmosphere (out dated decor, basic tables vs booths, etc.) the food was amazing. Lasagna had the most delicious meat sauce - finely ground beef - and the chicken Marsala (my servers favorite) was tender, large amounts of mushrooms and creamy. The food was ok. Service was ok as well. The space is crowded and the use of a blowtorch on food at the table in a crowded space is not safe or smart. The manager brought out a dessert with sugar on top as well as a blowtorch. He ignited the torch inches away from my friend and me in a very crowded restaurant prepared to ignite the sugar at the table. I was wearing a nylon dress that if ignited would literally melt into my skin. Given the crowded space, I was worried someone would bump into him while he was holding the torch so close to us. I asked that the manager not use the blowtorch at the table and it seemed to be a real inconvenience for him to consider safety of our friends at the table as well as other patrons sitting close to our table. Our server didn't seem to understand why we were concerned either. I won't be back as I don't believe the management is considerate of patron safety. read more

Went thereabout a week ago, had not been there in about a yea. The food was abominable. Shrimp smelled and obviously frozen and not fresh. Wife's steak was dry and tough. My brother's lasagna was terrible to say the least, strange taste of sauce, layers coming apart, overall no taste of tomato sauce and lasagna. The bred was not what I remember . Overall a terrible meal, ate small part of it, paid and left -will never return! Place has gone downhill A LOT for food quality. Food So Bad it Makes You Want to Write a Review I honestly have no idea how this place has more than 3 stars. Maybe pre-covid they had a different chef or source for ingredients? Not sure. My husband and I LOVE trying new restaurants and foods. You can check my post history- I'm not a chronic complainer or reviewer. But this food was so terrible I really needed to spare the rest of you from attempting to eat it until they get a chef that doesn't know what a microwave is or better ingredients. This restaurant is desperately trying to be a nice, fancy restaurant while completely neglecting the quality of ingredients and recipes of their food. Some of the worst food I've had in a sit down restaurant in Framingham and for sure in the Boston area. Firstly, the ambiance was fine. Pleasant environment, lovely background music. A nicely decorated space. Service was also fine, no issues there. Surprisingly crowded for a Monday night but many of the restaurants around here are closed Mondays so maybe that's it. Partner got a delicious hibiscus mint cocktail thing that was actually quite good. To start out with they brought us bread. The bread was clearly not made in house. Reminded me of a sliced subway baguette. It came on a plate with pre-packaged butter. Not the worst, but it was served on a plate with specific partitions for butter! If you're going to serve bread before the meal, at least make it nice with a spoonful of actual butter and not pre-packaged stuff. We ordered two appetizers: calamari and French onion soup. The calamari was made from extremely poor quality squid, very thin and rubbery. And the breading had the consistency of sand somehow? The tartar dipping sauce was good. The French onion soup was quite delicious, definitely made from a mix but whatever. The cheese was browned nicely. For entrees, we ordered crab stuffed shrimp with a side of vegetables and mashed potatoes, and a lemon shrimp linguini. Where to start. My entrée was the baked shrimp. It came with a container of melted butter which was nice. The shrimp was fine. The "crab" stuffing was approximately 90% breading and 10% crab if I'm being generous. It was completely mushy. No crispiness from baking or anything. Tasted microwaved. Relatively inedible. And I put some butter, salt, and lemon on them in order to even eat the first two. Very poorly seasoned and the texture was just gross. Mashed potatoes were pretty good, hard to screw those up. But the vegetables- I didn't even attempt to eat them. There were carrots and zucchini, two veggies with wildly different cooking times and textures, mixed together with absolutely no signs that they had been baked, sautéed, or anything other than dumped out of a can and microwaved/boiled. I have no idea how that happed. They looked entirely unappetizing and slimy? Ugh. The shrimp pasta had almost no sauce. And the pasta was wayyy overcooked. Like by at least five minutes. Or it was microwaved too, I don't know. Tasted a bit like a lean Cuisine. Shrimp was very overcooked too. We decided to try to salvage the evening by ordering the lava cake for desert. The one thing that honestly I don't care if it's microwaved. AND IT CAME OUT COLD. ARE YOU KIDDING ME. No melted center, nothing. Cold lava cake. Seriously. Needless to say, we won't be back. I'm so disappointed. This meal cost us about $100, not including a $20 tip which I left because it's not the waiter's fault that the food was horrible. We couldn't even ask for something different because everything we tried was so bad. Anyway, tl;dr nice atmosphere, trying to be fancy. Awful ingredients and everything tasted microwaved and canned. Poor seasoning and just yucky. Don't waste your time or money. Maybe come here for cocktails. But skip everything else. read more

I decided to give Bella Costa another chance since my last review in which I wasn't at all impressed I've been doing takeout at Bella Costa for the past several weeks. The Fisherman's Platter small plate is excellent. It costs $15 and includes a piece of scrod, three good sized sea scallops, two shrimp, french fries and cole slaw. I substutute garlic mashed potatoes for the french fries. They give you two huge scoops. I also love their eggplant parm. For $16 they give you a huge portion and it includes your choice of pasta. Each order gives me three meals. Bread and butter is included with every meal. Please support this family owned and run restaurant. They have indoor and outdoor dining and takeout. They are adhering to all of the Covid-19 rules and regulations. If you haven't tried their food before, do a takeout order. If you used to be a regular dine-in customer, continue to support them. We went for my wife's birthday, which included our toddler and baby. They weren't to busy, There were only a few tables that had guests, at-least in the room we were in. The decor and ambiance was pleasant, very clean and welcoming. We started with Fried Calamari for an appetizer. I ordered the Chicken Marsala with a French Onion Soup. My wife ordered off the "specials" menu, I can't recall the name but it was a pasta seafood dish, that contained lobster and shrimp(see picture). We also ordered chicken fingers off the kids menu. The Calamari arrived within 15 minutes. It was fresh, hot and was a good portion along with the peppers that came with it. Our daughters chicken fingers came shortly after. It came with 3 big chicken tenders and a large portion of fries. Chicken was fresh and crispy along with the fries. We then waited for about 30 minutes for the main courses. Sadly, this is where Bella Costa missed. My chicken Marsala was fresh, good portioned but bland. The soup was good. My wifes dish had a great portion of seafood, but sadly, was also very bland(it was a 40$ dish). We had a very nice server, she was helpful with providing a pen and paper for our daughter to draw while we waited for our food. However, she was a bit un-attentive,given how little guests were seated. We had to wait to get our waters filled and and the check-out process took to long. I was visiting Framingham and a friend and I came decided to eat at Bella Costa. It was a Friday evening and it was busy inside but they were able to seat us immediately. The interior was nice and clean. There was a man playing the piano and that was very pleasant. My friend had wine and the veal. I had water and the ravioli bolognese. The portions were very large and the food was good. The price wasn't too bad either considering the amount of food we had. I was able to get three meals out of my ravioli. The server was nice and attentive and it was a pleasant experience. If I'm ever in the area again I will go back! read more

So I waited for my coworker to leave for the bathroom to give my credit card to the waitress. I wanted to take my coworker out, but because I didn't want her to think we are dating because we acted really close, I said to the waitress "I'm taking her out because it's her bday!" Bella Costa has some decent Italian food. Their Chicken Marsala is my favorite. They have a main dining room with a full bar to the left and a second dining room for functions, banquets & parties to the right. A few times when the main dining room was busy and filled up, I was seated and waited on at a table in the function room. Bella Costa has a Sunday Brunch Buffet served in the main dining room. The Buffet includes unlimited coffee & tea and offers omelets made to order, bacon, sausage, eggs, home fries, baked fish, chicken marsala, linguini, ziti with sauce, salad, fruit, coffee cake, bagels, bread, pudding, & whipped cream (aerosol can). This is some good eating!! I've enjoyed the food here many times when I lived nearby. The service is good too -- given several refills on ice water and coffee. read more

After all the years of working out in the area, we finally went to dinner at Bella Costa. The place is very cozy and gives off an old school family Italian restaurant vibe. The service was excellent allowing for plenty of time between courses. The menu had a great range of everything from delicious appetizers to pastas to excellent chicken, veal, steak and seafood dishes. All of their pastas are home made as well. Great cozy family restaurant hidden in a strip mall. Really comfortable atmosphere with live piano. It was a bit loud, but the music was entaining and pretty good! The food- something for everyone, a huge menu with a ton of seafood options. I had the Scallops Florentine (Sea Scallops sautéed with spinach and sherry wine in a wine sauce, then topped with provolone cheese served over homemade pasta). The servings are HUGE. I had a ton of large scallops throughout my tasty dinner. The homemade pasta really made the dish. Everything was perfect and delicious. Service was decent, servers were quick and friendly. Let us sit a while after we finished dinner. We did not feel rushed. The Parking- I went on a Saturday night and it was so difficult to find parking- had to park down the street in another restaurant's parking lot, but I think that the sign of a good restaurant. We had reservations for 4 and we definitely needed the reservation. The place was packed! Prices were definitely affordable, especially for the quantity and quality of food. So my wife and I have been frequenting Bella Costa in Framingham for years now and I have never been so disappointed in the meal as I had last Saturday evening. I ordered their top mixed seafood dish the Cioppini with scampi sauce over linguine. What a small portion! For $28. I received 4 shrimp 3 mussels that I found only one small one in the shell, a few scallops over a very small bed of noodles. It was good don't get me wrong, but what a scimitar portion! To top it off the female waitress wasn't to friendly and kept taking things off our table that we were still using! If and when we go back I will never order that again... Bella Costa is a staple in the Framingham area. I've eaten here a few times now and it is pretty good Italian food. Affordable prices comparable to other Italian restaurants. Unfortunately, my last visit has left a sour taste in my mouth and I probably won't go back. The good - the service was great. The servers and owners who stopped by the table were so nice and I don't have any complaints in that department. Even the pianist who started playing at ~6:30pm put together a great set while I was there. Restaurant was only half full upon my arrival and I was promptly seated but it quickly filled up through the evening. The bad - I brought home a doggie bag of eggplant parmigiana as it was such a hefty portion that I couldn't finish it in one sitting. When I was heating it up for lunch the next day I discovered that there was not just eggplant in the dish. I was also served what looked to be breaded veal (but it could have been chicken) and it was masked underneath a layer of eggplant in the dish. I've worked in restaurants and I know that it is commonplace for chefs to serve veal in place of chicken or vice-versa but I am shocked to see veal/chicken served on an eggplant only dish. The brunch menu here is inaccurate. There are lots of reviews that reference it, so I'm assuming something changed. There is no unlimited brunch buffet. There is an unlimited omelette to order offering ($8) and you can add on items to that like meat and french toast and such for more money. The omelette is literally just eggs and whatever is scrambled in it (more like a fritata than an omelette). The busier the place got, the darker the eggs were on the outside and the softer they were on the inside (assuming higher heat for faster cooking). There is no lunch menu available on Sunday, so you either order one of the limited brunch items or from the dinner menu. I can't believe the words "too much garlic" are being typed out of my fingers, but there is too much garlic in the Caesar dressing. It tastes like a pile of fresh garlic on lettuce. You can't pick out any of the intricacies of the other ingredients in the dressing (no anchovie, no other seasoning). Just lots and lots of garlic. Now I eat a LOT of garlic and it's never notices, but the boyfriend kept telling me I smelled of it into the night. The chicken parm is cooked the right way. Smashed and pan seared like your Italian nonna used to do and the flavor is good, but not robust. Portion size, also, is great. The pasta, however, was the most overcooked past I think I've ever had. Super mushy - a far from al dente as you can get. Linguine, also, wasn't linguine. Linguine is long and flat a little wider than spaghetti - this was long and square (much thicker than linguine). It's possible they just didn't have linguine and did whatever, but my server didn't say anything. Although, my server also didn't say they were out of anchovies (how does an Italian place run out of anchovies?) when I specifically requested then for my salad until after she brought out the plate without them, so the lack of communication is believable. Service was lackluster. Waters never got refilled, we had to try and flag her down for the check, but plates were cleared by passing staff well. The man who was making the omelettes (who I'm assuming was the owner), was full of charm and tried to take care of his guests. If our server had his enthusiasm, I'm guessing service would have been superior. Decor is cozy and there was a delicious looking collection of desserts in a standing fridge I did not try. Overall, I'd say this place is "A-Ok." I wouldn't travel for it, but if you're in the area it might be worth a stop. read more

I had not been here in years; I was not disappointed. The restaurant is in a big U of other small businesses. The size is deceptive. Once inside, the main dining room takes a diner to the left. Across the way is a terrific bar, backlit in red. The bottles are not crowded, a nice touch. The celebration was for my niece reaching a milestone birthday; the details aren't important. What is important was the food, excellently served by Michaela, the epitome of a talented, caring employee. Her quest to take and deliver our meals was flawless. I had the raviolis with marscapone. Outstanding! I was of the impression when she brought over the dessert tray she enjoyed the dozen descriptions. My choice was the tiramisu, far too rich to eat in one sitting.
